Song of Saya

  • Language: English

Fuminori Sakisaka has a traffic accident which kills his parents and leaves him heavily injured. When he has a brain surgery to save his life, his perception of the world changes: everything he sees becomes blood and guts, people's looks and voices seem like monsters, and food that normally appeals to him tastes disgusting.

As he contemplates suicide in the hospital, Fuminori meets a beautiful girl among the flesh-covered walls. She introduces herself as Saya, and is apparently looking for her father. Fuminori does not want to be separated from Saya, and asks her to live with him. She agrees.

It's creepy, and well, kinda disgusting for the weak of stomach as you say. But the story is interesting once you shut down your brain a little to avoid feeling nauseous X3, but it's a shame that you only get 3 endings...

I don't think anyone will truly enjoy this game but for anyone weak of heart or stomache don't play this game once you play it there is no unseeing... ._.

Haha, that is exactly what I am thinking as well.

The game wasn't bad, and it had a story that captured the reader, but I can't say that I enjoyed it even one little bit.

I still remember the time I first played it. (Which was just about one and a half week ago, but anyway)

It was midnight..

About three seconds really in the game.

I saw some weird thing, which I just couldn't identify, no matter what.

I heard that thing making seriously strange noises, like someone screaming at me.

And some disturbing music was playing.

Yeah, so after three seconds I closed the game since I've been totally scared :p

Two hours later, I actually managed to start the game for real then, and really..

You get used to it soon, and then it is not really that scary anymore.

Yeah, for me it was like, "Oh man, this world is disgusting, what is he really doing when he spends intimate time with Saya, what does she really look like, is she going to eat him, oh my god did she just kill somebody..." and so on lol. It was really interesting and I couldn't stop playing until the end, but I didn't 'enjoy' it in the traditional sense.

I was also wondering those things, but Saya is so cute I'd rather have the screwed up brain for her than see what she looks like normally. I was actually finishing the Vn and got the ending Spoiler--->where Saya turns the world ugly and spreads her seeds

Yes, her being really cute was actually the only source of comfort I got while playing the game, which made me feel sympathetic with the MC in a deep way lol. Also, I think you saw everything as long as you saw the scene at the end of that route with the doctor and her monologue. The credits were credits, so not too much to miss there.

Thanks I was wondering if I would have to go back and see if I missed anything.

I started this, and played for a bit, but had a real hard time getting into it. I intend to go back eventually someday, Definitely not for those who can't take gore. But interesting at the basic level at least.

You kidding me? This is one of my favourite stories ever, let alone visual novels. I can't even describe my feelings with "feels", because my feelings are too serious. The mix of grotesque themes, romance, human nature, plot, and soundtrack are all just wonderful. Mind you, I also love Lovecraftian horror (and all horror in general), but that's not the only reason why I love this VN.

i think if i didnt read alot of the comments ild have given up reading this

if your thinking about starting this you need to get into the frame of mind so it wont be a shock

ill edit this if my view changes

The story is really strong, completely contrary to my expectations. The atmosphere is on spot and realistic. The horror in it, especially in the beginning events, is mildly scary(which is saying a lot, considering I'm something of a horror nut).

Potential spoilers ahead: The truth about Saya was made obvious quite early in the story(even earlier if you put 2 and 2 together), but even so the romantic elements were fairly strong. The true ending(where Saya "blossoms") was my favourite. Overall, it's a little disturbing, and mind boggling, but... it's good. Even though you can't help but have conflicting thoughts during the H scenes. The soundtrack was quite good. Ito Kanako did an amazing job with the ending theme. I like most of her songs, especially the ones in Steins;Gate. Oh and about the changes in the main character's personalty.. hmm, a little extreme, but bearable(if you exclude the cannibalism that is. That was just gross).

Saya no Uta is first and foremost a love story , despite the grotesque theme. That how i see it. And it engrosses the reader with that mix of gore + meaningful plot. One of the best VNs ive read. Recommended to anyone who likes gore in VN but also likes a good love story , if you dont like gore just make an effort and read through anyways because its a masterpiece.
