Deardrops

  • Language: English

Shouichi was known as one of the ‘nobles’ of the violin world. Having started playing the violin when he was 3, he won the national violin competition when he was in middle school and went to Germany to play in orchestras. However, due to unknown reasons, he returned to Japan, gave up playing the violin and became a freeter. One day, he starts working at a live house and meets many other amateur musicians who are living their lives their own way. Together they will have to overcome obstacles in both their personal lives and as a band. To Shouichi, the live house is a new beginning in a new place… a new world which has opened to him when he thought that his future as a musician had closed.

I have just finished Riho's route a moment ago. I must say I've not been captivated...or perhaps, possessed...since a long while. The lingering feelings were so deep that I feel "let's just keep this moment a while longer.." I have enjoyed this very much!

Yeah the music is good, wish they had kanade's version of no music no future. I downloaded the tracks they had for the game a few of them are good. like Anytime, anywhere and My dear stardust. Can't wait till they release the english version of the new deardrops game d2b vs deardrops- cross the future. Since its a game where the characters from kira kira and deardrops cross paths its gonna be a good one.

I think Deardrops wasn't as good as Kira*Kira, personally. I also liked curtain call a little better too :x. There is this song from Deardrops that I really, really like, though.

I think the same. The other routes in Kira*Kira felt like actual alternate stories while the ones in Deardrops felt like afterthoughts. Yayoi and Rimu's routes were a lot shorter and had less development than Kanade and Riho's.

The music in Kira*Kira had a lighter tone to it as well.

G-senjou no maou , Sharin no kuni , Ever17 , Muv Luv series , Fate/Stay Night...and many others but these ones will do if you havent read them already.

Deardrops has one of the best routes in VNs that i read (Riho's route) and for that i give it merit , but i found every other route to be lacking in the same punch.

You love good plot and story?

Then let me name a few that shouldn't be missed, ever:

Muv-Luv series (first Muv-Luv, then Muv-Luv Alternative after that) - Note that it is MLA that is the real masterpiece here, but you should read ML first either way since it serves as a prologue. This series is perfect entertainment and there is no way you should ever miss it if you read VNs.

But what is it about exactly? Well that depends on which part we're talking about. So let's just talk about the real important part here then: MLA.

A war drama, a life-and-death drama, that makes you FEEL things over and over and over. MLA has an incredible amount of special moments in it that will stay with you for... well... forever, really. Tears will be shed, and it will be glorious when it happens everytime. But let us not forget about the deep characters! Or the brilliant dialogue. Or the superb voice acting. Or the fantastic music. Or the perfect visuals (art+effects). Or, of course, the marvellous overall plot, that ultimately spans across the entire series. MLA has ridiculously high production values, to say the least. This VN will stay with you forever. It is as simple as that. READ THIS SERIES. NOW. Also, Sumika DMP.

Ever17 - Do you like mysteries? Then look no further than E17. It is full of different sized twists, and also holds the biggest one of them all that will no doubt make your brain explode 5476431253254 times over. Well, perhaps a bit more than that. In any case, you absolutely must read E17 if you enjoy mysteries.

Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo - Behold! The VN with the best protagonist, Kenichi. But let's not forget about the other superb characters in it, such as Houzuki and Natsumi. Sharin is indeed extremely fun to read with some excellent drama and backstories for the characters. The overall story? Something serious, something powerful, something interesting, and something meaningful. Enjoy it.

Sharin no Kuni, Yuukyuu no Shounenshoujo - Fandisc of the above. Houzuki's route is THE main thing worth reading on it. If you liked the main game (which you should), don't forget about this fandisc. Ari!

Fate/stay night - A long and very fun to read fantasy VN. Cool battles and cool characters (magnificent antagonist). Note that the most fun will be had during the second and third routes (UBW, HF). Should not be missed by anyone who likes to read VNs in general.

G-senjou no Maou - If you liked Sharin, then you absolutely must read G-senjou as well. A brilliant thriller VN with some nice and interesting characters. Very entertaining, especially so when doing the true route and its ending.

ef - a fairy tale of the two. - Would you like to see something emotional? Something meaningful? Beautiful romance perhaps? Then ef is good for you. Don't expect greatness early in the VN however, that comes later on... and yes, it is most definitely greatness.

999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors - An excellent mystery VN on the Nintendo DS. That's right, it is not a PC game. However, if you do not own a real NDS, you could always play it through an emulator. You can find the rom of the game (required) by searching for it on google. This VN contains some interesting puzzles and a great overall story that just happens to be a bit dark as well. It was written by the same man who wrote E17, and yes, that's important to point out.

Forest - I have never experienced a more unique VN than this. But I have also never read a more hard to understand and original story than the one found in Forest. Do you want to see something extremely surreal? A story that is hard to grasp? Then this is the one for you. Yes, it's important to remember that this VN is ultimately not for everyone... at all.

Saya no Uta - From one unique VN to another! I think that Saya no Uta is a great achievement when it comes to dark VNs. Indeed, the story in this will most likely disturb you plenty of times, in a good way. Very interesting stuff. Best read in the complete dark, alone, with a headset. Immerse yourself in the wickedness that is Saya.

There are more. I have not read all of the greats myself yet. But these are some of them at least.

I believe that that other user has recommended many good ones but I'll just add some that do have good plot and story as well.

Monster Girl Quest : While it may not appeal to your taste, the story and character development is just epic. I played it on a whim and found myself captivated by the story, so much so that I finished it within one night in one play-through. The characters tend to have hilarious personalities, deep pasts and character, and the game addresses many deep issues such as the futility of war, the idea of the sin of the father passing to the son, etc. It is a game that should not be missed.

Katawa Shoujo : The game termed Crippled Girls. While that Art is not exactly top notch, the individual stories of the characters give tragic pasts and how they move on from their disabilities with the help of you, the protagonist. This game can tug at your heart-strings and play the melody of Katawa Dick Syndrome, aka. Crippled Dick syndrome because you won't be able to jack off and not feel bad for tarnishing this pure game.

Shikkoku no Sharnoth and Sekien no Inganock : These are very unorthodox games, which are impossible to understand until you finish the story and tie up the loose ends. However, the characters are extremely complex and you can connect many interesting details that will make you all the more fulfilled when the game ends.

Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai +S +A1 : This series by Minatosoft is a Vn that should be played because it has everything a regular story should have in it, humor combined with seriousness. There are people who try their best but still fail at their dreams, then move on, there are those who need to better themselves by letting go of their friends, all this while mixed with hilarious stories and characters.

Btw for the other recommendation that you got, I would recommend not playing Saya no Uta due to epic amounts of guro and gore. I highly recommend Fate/Stay Night, Sharin no Kuni and G-Senjou no Maou due to epic stories.

Saya no Uta hasnt got guro.

Also , i recommend Saya no Uta because even though it revolves around gore , the plot doesnt focus much on it except on specific parts. And you read Saya no Uta for the plot moreso than the gore.

Yeah, I get you. I finished the game before. Ignoring the enormous amount of gore and the fact that we romance Cthulu or whatever Saya is, Saya no Uta qualifies for the best moving romance of the year. I can definitely see the deep love between the protagonist and Saya and the fact that the ideas behind them within their point of view is really beautiful. However, the protagonist is a rank-A jerk, Saya is psycho and this game can seriously cause a lot of trauma.

Agreed on Fuminori being a top class asshole , especially during the true ending for reasons i wont disclose for being spoilers. Saya a psycho? Not really. She's just doing what she was born to do , her lifecycle by whatever means necessary. And trauma? I read it and it didnt traumatize me one bit and several others that i know who read it as well. Maybe its you who doesnt take that kind of dark VN very well , but thats your opinion , you're most certainly entitled to it. Doesnt mean i agree with you though. Lets agree to disagree. And why are we talking about Saya on a deardrops thread again? RIHO RULES!

This seems like a pretty appropriate place to discuss it, but there was a Deardrops/d2b concert OVA released recently, but judging from PVs and various clips, it was barely animated...leave it to Silverlink to make something have crap animation.

There aren't any subs for it and we probably won't see any soon, but there are clips of the songs. It's interesting to see the characters of Kira*Kira and Deardrops "kind of" animated.

is it just me or the opening song has 2 guitars AND one violin?

Not just the opening. The "My Dear Stardust" album has several of the songs with two guitars and a violin, but the "Straight" album has game versions.

Will I be able to go back the H-scenes after I beat all the routes, or do I have to save before every scene to watch it again? Im just asking because there is no extras or bonus thing on the main menu to view the CG.

Hi, everyone! I was just wondering, how far into the game before the opening movie starts to play? I got as far into the story where Shoichi shows Kanade the guitar pick marked "Deardrops" but the opening movie still hasn't played in-game. Are the mpegs supposed to be in the "movie" folder or should they be in another folder? I saved the eroge at that point, exited it, moved the mpegs from the "movie" folder and into the root "deardrops" folder and tried resuming from my saved game but to no avail (The opening movie still hasn't played in-game). I was able to play the mpegs using Windows Media Player, so I don't think that it is a codec issue. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

:)
