The story of Steins;Gate takes place in Akihabara and is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.

Steins;Gate Installation

1. Set the locale of your system to Japanese

2. Extract and install the main game. When this is complete, and it automatically starts up a new install process for the authentication software, quit.

4. Update the game to version 1.1 (possibly optional)

5. Apply the unedited English translation patch by copying the extracted files into the folder the game was installed in (should be something along the lines of C:/Program files/NitroPlus/STEINS;GATE).

6. (optional) apply the menu screen and/or subtitled opening video by copying the files into the folder the game was installed in.

7. Launch the game through the STEINSGATE-patch.exe file that came with the English translation patch (i.e. not the shortcut it might have placed on your desktop).

Hey guys, I did everything said in the guide, but when I run STEINSGATE-patch.exe the game it's still in japanese....does anyone have a solution for this??

EDIT: amm, nevermind....I replaced the files again, and for some strange reason, it worked this time :D

EDIT2: oh I almost forgot...the "Steins;Gate menu patch" requests a password...could you provide it please ;)

Is there supposed to be a suspicious lack of spoken dialogue for many lines, mostly longer ones, or is this caused by the English patch? It seems to occur mostly (always?) when an English sentence does not fit on one line where the original Japanese probably did, which seems indicative of some kind of problem.

Whenever I load the game, the spaces between words show black bars in the dialogue. If I advance the text, it return to normal. Is there a way to fix it? It only happens to the first dialogue whenever I load the file.

Patch is to blame? probably, what versión of the eng patch you've installed? try the latest versión (methinks you might be running the unedited patch)

a way to fix it? not that i'm aware of--- desi might know, though

As far as I'm concerned it's a minor bug that comes along with the 1.20 update.

It won't hinder your progress in anyway so don't mind it.

It happened to me as well, but honestly I thought it might be some intended function since those black bar made the text look like it has been blacked out like those secret document.

beside it gone when you advance to the next one so I thinks fixing the problem probably not worth your time anyway
