With them cutting so much content I wonder if there's even gonna be any "Moe" left in their "Novel"...... *snicker*

I apologize, I just needed to make myself laugh to get over my disappointment with this entire subject matter so far.

Looks like it might be on Steam. Might explain all the censoring.

Definitely.

Interesting, has there ever been any other visual novels on steam before, or is it a first? I guess that explains how they'll be 'reaching a wider audience',

hee, no wonder they do that kind of censoring..

Tsk tsk Wrong speculation, guys. MoeNovel doesn't intend to sell Konosora on Steam.

Probably altered if it is too crude or vulgar... I guess? Since they seem to want to avoid anything with porn, I think they might alter some text that goes into relations about it. Will be interesting to see exactly what they alter. Going to need someone who has played the Japanese version to play this one and see what has changed. Still not buying it.

3. Similarly, there are rumors about sexual jokes being cut or toned down

in order to fit the ESRB T rating. To which extent has the dialogue been

modified to remove references to sex (apart from cutting out explicit

sex scenes)?

3. The wording has been changed so that there are no sexual jokes. There are, however, minimal slapstick humor scenes left behind.

Given their screwed-up attitude to localization, I just hope they fail bad enough to remove them from market. I prefer one less localization company to one that makes its mission to butcher VNs.

Just convince them to translate all age titles and we'll be fine.

If they can be so persuaded by anything less than total economic failure. So far, their attitude seemed to me so bullheaded and willfully ignorant of the actual facts of the market, and the tastes and wishes of the fanbase, that I'm driven to assume the worst about them.

Sorry Chris, there are no current plans for an uncensored version of the game.

Note the wording, they openly admit that it's "censored", a word with a very negative connotation.

EA would have written:

"Dear customers, there seem to be some misunderstandings. We apologize for not being clear enough. We are happy to bring you the localized and improved English version, which was especially handcrafted for the English-speaking audience. We worked hard to make the game more accessible and understandable. We promise that nothing strange or irritating will disturb your reading fun!"

What truly amazes me is that they felt necessary to censor kissing scenes. Kissing scenes. In 2013. I seriously doubt there is anyone in the Western audience, short of Taliban sympathizers, that could be scandalized by a kiss, most definitely including grade schoolers.

Forgive me if this is a rant but personally to me this is stupid prejudice. I mean its not like there are shows in American society that are overtly violent or sexual involving teens or in some cases: young children. Cough...cough, Family Guy, American Dad, and Southpark....cough, cough. I'm sorry I coughed first. Hell there some novels with more sexually explicit content in first 3 chapters than in 6 hours of playing an eroge.

I must say I'm on the team that wishes for their economic failure. It would be nice if that shocked them enough to actually check what the VNs fanbase consists of, and what do they want.

I don't even know where did they pick the idea up from! There are no forum, blogs, whatever with people begging for All-ages games with censorement of anything that grazes vulgarity in the least, and they made no polls no nothing, so where does their market objectives come from...?

This makes me remember of Harry Potter. Any of you heard how it was publised? The first book I mean.

Rowling was poor, absolutely poor. She even had to make the book scripts by hand instead of photocopying it cuz she didn't have the money. So, aaaaaaall editors always told her that Harry Potter had no chances, the reasons were always the same: too long, too difficult for the kids market, too mature for young people, etc. They kept going on, saying the same.

Until one day, she managed to pull some strings, and one editor took the script home. There, maybe because God enlightened him, he decided to do what the 90% of editors of all that exist (games, books, VNs, candy, whatever) never think of doing. He actualyl asked someone from the market! He handled the book to his daughter, who proceeded to devour the book within days and demand the second one. That made the guy rethink it all, and he decided to publish the book, making him and Rowling filthy rich.

So, sorry for the long post but, in general, just saying that I'm astonished at how reassured they are of their decision, without having asked a single person. Their conviction is borderline with medieval religion fanatism. They have no proves, no market studies, no logic behind their idea. Only a big slap in the face will wake them up...

wow...so kiddy. just because they don't do 18+ version, they deserve economic failure? if you don't like it, then don't buy it. simple. but maybe there is somebody who wants even all age version. maybe they do it just for those people. i am sure some people will buy it, even without h scenes.

if you want so much that hentai scenes, then go and play the game in japanese. go. nobody stops you. have fun.

i really hope they will gain a lot of money, just to make you shut up.

Your last sentence is kiddy, though.

Who talked about h-scenes or 18+ content? Most of us here with for economical failure for their sake as a company and ours as clients. They made a really important decision for no reason, and what they are doing to Konosora is a monstruosity and an insult, hence why we are angry.

The opposite of 18+ VN is All-Ages VN, not All-Ages + censorment + blanks in the plot VN.

Also, they are not aiming for "people who want All-ages VNs", they clearly stated they are trying to go for the widest public avaiable, which is, in fact, the one who likes 18+ VNs. You clearly don't understand what MoeNovel said, nor what I said... but at least you tried!

who told you that. how could you know that all people want 18+. you are talking about eroge community. only eroge community, but they want to catch all players, so they make a game with no hentai scenes. thast why this game can be bought by everybody, even kids who have never played vn.

btw: "blanks in the plot VN" lol what you mean? bath scenes? sex scenes? yee it really makes the plot incomplete.

Dat strawman argument. He clearly said "widest public available". Also, porn sells.

Oh hello there, Captain Obvious.

Yee, especially when one of the route is about from sexfriends into a romantic couple relationship.

Or maybe because there are kissing scenes in the middle of the game? h-scenes appart? It's an obvious plot hole if, in the middle of a romantic scene, they suddenly take our a few dialogues and the CG of the kiss.

Who told me all that? It's the words and opinion that MoeNovel themselves stated.

Also, "can be bought by everybody" means nothing. A VN with everything censored can be played by anyone, absolutely. Now, will more people than usually buy it? No, the opposite. Quite mysterious indeed! Maybe it has smth to do with the fact that the public is pretty angry at their decision and you can see this everywhere?

But yes yes, I'm sure loppez, they'll make lots of money and everyone will buy it because everyone can play it. It's such a devastating logic, there's no possible counter.
