Sekai does that way too often....they should stop taking the easy way out by "translating" already perfectly translated games. Instead focus on awesome novels that aren't translated yet, there are more than enough out em. I'd love to see some of the later Eushully games translated for example after the joy I had on Kamidori. Decay 25 Posted June 26, 2016 Share Posted June 26, 2016 One of the problem is that Hoshimemo is not "perfectly translated," it's actually translated rather poorly and is heavily criticized within the community for this. Eushully aren't interested in releasing their games in English otherwise that would have already happened. These companies are out for a profit and taking the time to translate one game in the time it'd take to do two or even three non gameplay games isn't good for business. If you have two VNs - one with gameplay and one with text only - with comparable "playtime" of 40 hours, the gameplay one will take much less effort to translate, since large chunks of playtime can be done with simply patching the interface - text portion of game with large emphasis on gameplay is relatively short, compared to those who have only text (wasn't Clannad text file like double the length of Lord of the Ring?...) Decay 25 Posted June 27, 2016 Share Posted June 27, 2016 That's true for translation effort alone, but Peter Payne, owner of JAST, has argued that gameplay titles take a lot more programming and testing effort, and ultimately cost more and takes more time to produce than non-gameplay titles. To the point where he seems reluctant to license any more gameplay titles from now on. This issue might have been exasperated by JAST's completely screwed up managerial setup, making everything way less effecient than it should be. MangaGamer has said the opposite, where gameplay titles tend to do very well for them (although they've only ever released simple ones) and they want to do more. Link to post Share on other sites

Might try it anyway, in case it surprises me. The two moe titles look decent enough - feel bad for Kouryuu lol, if he has to work on either.
