You play the role of Azai Kyousuke, the son of a legendary gangster infamous in the underworld. You spend your time listening to Bach, playing God at school and covertly working for your stepfather, a ruthless financial heavyweight. This idyllic existence is broken when two individuals appear in the city - a beautiful girl named Usami Haru with hair you could get lost in for days, and a powerful international gangster known only as "Maou". Almost without delay, the two begin a deadly cat-and-mouse game, bringing you and your friends into the crossfire. Plotting, political intrigue and layer upon layer of interlocking traps are the weapons in this epic battle of wits.

Agreed, this game is superb.

The only thing I didn't like was how Maou was actually his brother. We got hints after hints that Maou was the main protagonist, one scene even him "transforming into Maou" during that shower scene with Kanon. Then akabei soft2 slapped me with the "plot twist". Would have been better with the main protagonist being Maou.

The plot twist was pretty predictable to me. It's fairly obvious when they go for such blatant hand holding that the implied message is wrong. Still, awesome story, all the routes are good, though Haru's is in a league of its own. Shit, that ending.

Yes, awesome game. I never seen the Maou thing coming at all. Took me by surprise. I really liked it but it was... a bit too linear for me. With only ONE main route and all the other routes feeling more like side stories (albeit I haven't played the first one yet... the... one girl... yeah I forgot all there names by now :p). Plus the side stories change the whole world based on the choices you made also kinda pissed me off. But the Main route was freakin' awesome! I'm so glad I played it. And the ending.... man it's too embarrassing for me to say damnit. Nothing... I mean nothing has ever made me do what that ending did. None of the F/SN endings, not the super sad part with in the clannad anime that I can't say without spoilers, not even Yui backstory episode in the Angel Beats! anime! None of those sad things ever made me me do what the ending for this game did. Man was I never so glad that something actually ended in a Spoiler -> happy damn ending!

Man if I had any friends that liked VNs then I would defiantly recommend this to be on the "One of the VNs you have to play before you die" list.

I was in love with this game all the way until the true ending with Haru. Though the ending was superb, while in the mind set of playing through the game. I couldn't really accept it. If you don't want a different opinion of the ending stop reading now because I might change the way you look at it.

They tried to make this a great ending and they succeeded, however in the process they bypassed a lot of easier outcomes that, based on the rest of the game, Kyoske and Haru could have easily come up with.

1: Keep in mind that the head of the special investigations unit, the one questioning Kyoske, was Tokitas father. Simply pressing the fact that her father owes him her life, could have swayed the investigation greatly in Kyoskes favor.

2: Why not come clean? Explain everything in utmost detail. Gain sympathy with both the jury and the interrogators, take a lone from the bank with Kyoskes undoubtedly perfect credit score, a lone from the yakuza with his underground connections, or help from his friends, not to mention Tokitas "debt" and Tsubakis new found fortune, and you could hire a top notch lawyer with the objective of preaching the true statement of killing a fellon, terrorist, and a fugitive of the state, in mental derangement. Just look at the history and it is easy to prove.

3: Oh, and if your worried of stopping Harus career with a criminal track record, don't be. She is already using an alias on stage.

4: If he felt like bending the truth and getting away with self defense: " I shot Maou as he was assaulting my girlfriend, I missed the second shot and he rushed me (true). We got into a scuffle and we dropped both our guns (true). He then ran out the door and Haru gave chase with my dropped weapon (true). She couldn't allow herself to let him get away again after all he had done (true). She had no intent to kill him as she kept watch over him under a tree (false). She was no doubt hoping I would call the police as soon as possible (false). However in her shocked state she had no way to know the gun was empty (true). Maou probably knew this as a professional of dealing with firearms (true / false). Because as I rounded the corner he was cursing at her no doubt delirious from the pain of the bullet in his shoulder (false). He was waving his free arm about and it looked like he was about to pull something from his pocket and lunge at Haru (false). I panicked and unloaded my entire clip into him (true). I couldn't afford to let him hurt anyone else I loved (true). Haru then collapsed from exhaustion, I had a brief talk with Maou before he passed, and I carried Haru back to my apartment (true). I then waited for police to arrive and went in for questioning (true)."

5: In the amount of time he was in waiting It would have been easy to come up with that. Until he did he could just try to take the blame and "spill the beans" when the time came.

6: Even if he was incarcerated, by maybe a maximum of 3 years, ( don't know exactly ) He would have probably gotten out on parole. Especially if he suddenly had a child.

7: And finally, why were there no testimonies from his friends, business associates, etc.

All and all they tried too hard to make it a tear jerk-er in my opinion. They left out allot of stuff that would make more sense in light of the rest of this story and their characters. I think the ending just to sad on the bittersweet scale when you think about it.

Sorry if this ruined it for you. I needed closure. 3:)

...A good ending, but...

Why was he worried about Haru's career being ruined by being involved in the killing of a felon? She already uses an alias when it comes to her music, besides, even if people did find out. She would probably be viewed as a hero, after all, killing maou is like killing osama bin laden... If the reporters see it differently, well, he does have 50 million yen for bribe money...

Please tell me what you think.
