Pandemic Heart

Four years ago, Makoto Nakazawa lost family, friends, and even memory of the events during the outbreak of the Unknown virus epidemic in the Tohoku region of Japan.
Now adopted by a female friend of his deceased father, he lives in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, struggling to rebuild a new life in a new land. However he doesn't suspect what Fate has for him when he accepts to go to a little (and not entirely fictional) island in the Inland Sea of Japan as correspondent for the newspaper club of his school, because that island is about to become one of the starting points of the second outbreak of the epidemic he barely survived once...

Yuusuke is an office worker with a dislike for people, preferring to do his job alone and in silence. When the company he works for suddenly goes bankrupt, he loses his job, and with that, all his motivation disappears, and he becomes a complete shut-in.
 
 
On one of the rare days he decides to leave his apartment after a week-long video game binge, a mysterious man attacks him and bites his arm. Though Yuusuke manages to escape back to his room, he comes down with a fever and becomes bedridden for several days.
 
 
When Yuusuke wakes up, recovered, he goes to resume his normal life, but he soon finds that in the short time he was asleep the world has completely changed. Zombies have emerged in every corner of the world simultaneously, and the few human survivors are now in hiding.

Yuusuke and Mitsuki rush to the city hall to have the municipal survivor group save Mitsuki's wounded brother. Mitsuki meets her childhood friend who proceeds to takes over Yuusuke's guardian role for Mitsuki. Yuusuke will have to decide either to stay and wait for the evacuation or not.

Based on the popular web novel of the same title. The story covers the first half of volume 3 (Chapter 32 "Wakare" to Chapter 44 "Ibasho." of the web novel).

Coming back home after week-long business trip (convention), Sam can't help but sense that something isn't quite right the moment he set foot inside his house. Is it the fact that his newlywed wife was sleeping in the afternoon rather than waiting impatiently for his return? Or is it because she was rather evasive the moment he questioned her about it? Or maybe it is simply his weary mind playing tricks on him?

The latter seems like the most compelling answer, or so he thought, but as he finds himself gazing at a selfie his wife sent him during his business trip--a selfie in her lingerie-- he notices something he didn't catch when he first received it; the presence of three inconspicuous fingertips peeking at the edge of the frame.
