Ace Academy

  • Language: English

In the year 2049, mechanized robots commonly called GEAR were developed for military application. Since then, their versatile functionality has led them to not only become commonplace in commercial use, but also spawned an entire sports entertainment industry. The prevalent use and popularity of GEARs has created a new academic field known as “Cenorobotics”.

Due to unforeseeable circumstances, the protagonist finds himself transferring to ACE Academy, a premier school for Cenorobotics studies in Japan. He struggles to find a team willing to accept him and his outdated “American” GEAR to compete in the intramural tournament.

Thought it was made by a indie company i'm really impressed by this novel. I would give it a 7 or 10 and that is only by a last important factor, otherwise i would give it a 9. Still i would recomend it strongly.

The art of the characters is not as great as it was made my a indie company, still it is good enought as you can see each character's personality throught its designe. But the personality of the characters are incredible well done, their personality is so strong and vivid that even if you remove the voices, the sprites and the names you could know which characters say what throught their dialogue, i just can't stop praising their personalities enought.

Choices: Not only you have a ton of choices, but even if they don't change the ending there are choises that follow the MC for a long time. Also the fact the atribute that you choise at the begining (Strengh, inteligence, intuition) made its presence several times in the story. This is something that impress me a lot not just for being there but as for it was managed, also most normal visual novel doesn't have and i'm not talking just about the atribute one but also the other minors choises that follow you.

The theme is good, a academy about those gigants robots. This theme is well supported by the fact that there is something like a battle sistem even thought they are just choises and they repet themselves a lot. A better made gameplay would have been apreciated but considering they are a indie company this is still pretty good. At least better than most battle visual novels where you can only sit there and see how it progress.

The game lack scenarios as they tend to repeat themselves even when they are suppose to be a diferent place.

If it were just the facts mentioned so far i would five it a note of 9 of 10, but unfortunaly it doesn't seems like the story was really finished, not to me thought. A few more battles could have been used but is not a big deal, the part of the romance is not bad, thought it could have gone deeper in the family afairs of the heroine in route if they wanted but it is still not too bad, but what really sadly me the most is the lack a proper outcome to the main issue in the story, the approach they took for this is simply not good enought. I even feels like they should remove their declaration about have finished the story and add a episode 5 and maybe a 6th too in order to resolve this.

if by this you mean persona style choice, then there are many VN that have it (a minority, but still many), most if not all of them is untranslated (90% sure nothing is translated)

I'll guess you are talking about choices affected by some atribute your MC has since is the only type that fits. Apart of some flash galges (which i decided to not count) i don't see many actual VN where you even get a atribute, so i wouldn't call it many even if is minority.
