Just finished Cannonball from Liar-soft

I've been awat for a while finished at least a dozen vn's but in the interest of not turning the post into an epic word vomit covering them all at once I'll just stick to the most recent one for now come back later for the rest.

Polished off ML Alternative Chronicles 1 and 2 first one or more specifically "A Day After episode 00" was kinda meh I mean it took me longer to download and install it than it did to actually sit through so it didn't leave much of an impression ADA 01 from Chronicles 2 was soooooooo much better. Long enough to actually get emotionally invested and the seriousness of the JP/US alliance drama was peppered with enough levity so as to not bog itself down, it was also a great story because.....MARIMO-CHAN!! I was initially confused by her being you know...alive since like so many my psyche was scarred by what happened in Alternative then I remembered ADA continues from Ultimate not Alternative proper but that aside it was nice to see her again and being a strong symbol to her troops and even having sway with the disgruntled refugees

Are you me lol? I also tried going back after reading Rewrite, but then my laptop died so the save file got lost.

 

Honestly, I didn't expect the darkness. After playing the 2 prequels I thought Muv Luv Alt would be the happy route where everything gets concluded b/c he already knows what happens. It was 2am in the morning and I'm on my bed with my laptop, that scene pops up with all those horrible sound effects. Never in my life has a picture affected me so much.

I went in fully aware of the scene even foolishly thinking I was prepared for it....I was so wrong. if you think the sound effects were rough on a laptop I had my computers audio running through my stereo in surround sound at the time so I had the emotional trauma and the literal gut punch that nearly made me retch cuz it was all around me. I didn't quit tho I soldiered through because I beat VN's I DO NOT let them beat ME. It just got more and more depressing but I made it through and promptly replayed Katawa Shoujo my go to decompression VN cuz Lilly and Hanako always make me feel better

^ Getting the 5 main endings is enough to play Agave, there's no need to play the sub-routes to unlock it.

 

About that, I'm done with the 5 girls too and was surprised by Wanko's route, I liked it. I'm reading the sub-routes first to keep stuff like Momoyo vs Shakadou for last. I'm pissed off for Kuki Ageha though... why does this thing have a sequel and 354 FD and not a route for her? Isn't her HAHAHA! good enough?

Yea I knew they were supposed to be enough to unlock it my mistake was trying to access it from an existing save at the first character choice at 5/07 loading a earlier save and auto skipped to the same point and the tree appeared I'll prolly still hold off starting it till I finish off the sub heroines before tackle it tho. I was also surprised by how much I enjoyed Wanko's route showing her all matured on tv in her ending was nice.

Finished F/HA and If My Heart Had Wings (restored version). Hollow Atraxia was OK I suppose but couldn't help but feel kind of let down given that the original left such a deep impression on me but if nothing else it was worth playing for the Eclipse H-scene getting tag teamed by Sakura and my beloved Rider lol. IMHHW was very good Particularly the Kotori route. It struck a deep chord in me because I had back surgery when I was 12 that left me bed ridden so long that my legs atrophied and was wheel chair bound for almost a year and even if the circumstance were different I could relate to having to totally adjust to a new way of living along with the pity of people around me. I at least handled it better than she did tho but that's cuz my rents weren't the over bearing worry warts that hers were lol.

I can't speak for how much the restoration did to fix what I hear was a horrid translation job but for the most part it wasn't any worse than some of the older Mangagamer releases I played when I first got into the hobby the only times it was evident that they had done any doctoring is when near the end of the Kotori route every one makes a huge deal that Aoi and Kotori stopped using honorifics even tho the sctipt never had any in it to begin with between them lol. If I had to point out any really glaring screw up it would be when the cast was discussing fears that Tobioka would wreck the glider and they suddenly started to referring to him as a female and even that made me laugh my ass off more than anything when I noticed it lol.

I'm still working Maji koi I've completed all the main heroine routes but I still need to complete the other sub heroines and the male kazama family member stuff to unlock the "true route". I also just downloaded Chaos Head and plan to play that soon I'd been wanting to do it for quite a while just never got around to it but I also just recently watched the anime adaption of it so it rekindled my interest.

Back again after another crash...well crash isn't really the right word. Basically my HDD decided it wanted to play the role of the tragic heroine who falls into a coma has a miraculous temporary recovery only to slip away again forever. I was playing Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteiru and was about 95% through the last route when the read/write heads on the drive finally seized up completely I did back up my save data but since I was basically done at that point I doubt I'll bother redownloading it just to finish out the sister route it wasn't too bad tho.

I just finished Comyu - Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku this morning. It was pretty good tho every time Babylon got summoned I would hear "I summon RED EYES BLACK DRAGON!!!" in a bad brooklyn accent in my head lol and don't even get me started on the Tolkien references.... It did amaze me how much booty Akihito got thrown at him without even trying tho. Well Haru is a slut so that one didn't surprise me (hell if you turn off the H-scenes that woman would almost no screen time lol) but getting a piece of Rondo and especially Yoroku were a surprise. Speaking of Rondo....

The Mayuki and Kagome routes were my favorite ones I'm not a lolicon (ok well maybe a little :-X) the whole otaku sub culture backdrop of Mayuki's route just resonated with my inner otaku hehe. Kagome's route was good because it answered all the nagging question about the plot plus she spends the entire game being a bitch it was nice seeing her a little vulnerable

Next on the agenda is F/HA and Maji-koi prolly Maji-koi first since I kinda wanna go for something a bit more upbeat. Speaking of Fate in general I see there's another Shirou hatefest going on which is funny cuz I swear when I stopped in here a couple months just out of curiosity you all were talking about the same thing lol

Moving on to the subject of people recording and posting their VNs play through vids online there was guy on xvideo.com who posted play throughs of at least a dozen Eroge. It was mostly Zyx/G-collection titles like Sagara Family, Do you like Horny Bunnies 1 and 2 and Virgin Roster. Wierd thing was the text was japense but the visuals weren't censored never could figure out how that worked lol

Dunno if anyone noticed but I've been AWOL from the thread for a rather long time. Shortly after my post after I finished Sharin No Kuni my computer decided to have a mild stroke and wouldn't boot for a few months ironically when I finally sat down to do something about it it booted up fine like nothing happened. I had alot of backlog to work off tho. Most notably Grisia... I had actually intended to give a full breakdown of my thoughts on it at first but while typing it up it got way too long lol. My impression pretty much mirrors everybody elses it had me riveted to my seat for a solid 2 weeks lol. Route wise Sachi Amane and Makina were my favorites. Makina's in particular due to it mirroring one of my all time favorite movies The Professional. Yuuji being Leon Makina being Matilda and despite the owner being wrong Makina Apple seedling being Leon's Fern.

On a final note Grisia is prolly one of the few VNs I've played that had blatantly under age heroines and didn't bother trying to hide being a disclaimer saying otherwise. The flashbacks in Sachi's route take place around her 9th (or was it 10th?) birthday. They avoid giving any specific dates in those flashbacks but they overlap with Amane's diary of doom which DOES list a specific year. That said if Makina and Sachi are the same age they are at BEST 17 in the present day.

After Grisia I gave Yumina The Etheral which was surprisingly good tho I didn't finish it I got a bit a burned out on it by the time I got through Kirara and Aoi's route. The final Boss fight of Kirara's route was frickin insane I spent like 2 hours on that fight alone trying to wait out the bastards cheap autoheal skill. I also made the mistake of not trying the hard setting after I unlocked it. I ended up losing the fights against the athletics club and the Class president a few timesbecause I was so overpowered that I kept killing them before I could get the required approval rating to actually win.

More recently I just finished AIR, Ayakashibito, and Hoshizora no Memoria. Air was a good read... tho Misuzu's route and the Air route were depressing as hell. A few quirks in the other routes also bugged me like I didn't quite understand why Kano's sister makes a point to say not to be too friendly with Minagi in front of Kano yet they never say why. I suppose it might have been the games way of telling you that at that point you could still deviate onto Kano's route.

Ayakashibito was great my only real complaint was it got a bit too rapey for my taste at times.

I was actually playing Hoshizora before my computer died I had finished all but the Kosame Mare and mystery girl route but I lost power and my save file got borked and despite having their galleries full the game acted like I hadn't finished any of the routes. I readownloaded it and started from scratch last week my only complaint is that I've had Chinami's ONII-CHAN ONII-CHAN ONII-CHAN!!!!" stuck in my damned head ever since.

Currently I'm going through the Sharin No Kuni follow up disc I downloaded it when I posted last but I completely forgot I had it until recently. I've been through the Akutsu storyline it was indeed enlightening to see how Mr Hozouki ended up being such a twisted bastard at the same time it kinda took him down a peg for me.Mostly because it made it feel like he had no original thought in his head since everything that he did when he took over the town was just a variation of what he was put through by his predecessor. I will say tho that Ms. Hozouki was far more disturbing in nature but I think most of that was due to the fact that she looks identical to sweet innocent Mana lol.

I also had a forced exile due to computer issues tho only for about 3 months or so. Turned my computer on one morning it suffered a minor stroke and got stuck in boot failure loop. I didn't wanna deal with it at the time so I just left it alone and then a couple weeks ago I decided to finally deal with the problem only to discover whatever had gone wrong had fixed itself and my computer was back in working order lol.

Incidentally I was never able to fully finish Hoshizora before it happened I got through all the routes main routes but after completing Komame's the game froze and I had to end task it which rendered most of my progress null and void and the only route that was still flagged as completed was Isuzu and that was the first one I had completed. Planning to give it another run soon tho since I just finished Grisaia no Kajitsu (which I HIGHLY recommend by the way) and I've got not other VN's on my to do list for the moment plus we're experiencing a lull in new VN's at the moment anyway

I guess I'll burst in here without reading the previous 40 pages by asking: why do you guys like this VN? (haven't read it yet) Has it amazing heroines? or amazing plot twists? or something else maybe...

I laughed my ass off at that quote when I was reading Sharin no Kuni sad part is the reason I found it so funny is cuz I dated a WoW addict for a while and she said something almost identical to me at one point in our relationship. Moving back on track I finished Katahane last week and just finished Sharin no Kuni about 30 minutes ago. I loved both but in all honesty I prolly should played them in reverse order Sharin no Kuni's plot was pretty hard for me to stomach at times and had I saved Katahane for after finishing it Coco's mind numbing adorableness woulda been a good way to decompress. I gotta say tho as far as fucked up pseudo father figures go Azai Gonzou looks like fucking Mahatma Gandhi compared Houzuki

I FINALLY got around to playing all the way through G-Senjou. First time I tried to play it I was using a computer that I had to share with other people and they got all naggy about me monopolizing the computer so I ended up only getting to the point ransom swap cat and mouse part before I had to give up. I gotta say It's prolly one of if not THE best VN I've completed in a long time. I really wanted to beat the living hell out eiichi tho but I tend to feel that way about every character who fits into the "secondary male who thinks hes gods gift to women" role anyway.

A testament to how much i loved it is the fact that I actually intentionally went about getting the bad endings which is something I pretty much never do. That and making a an ever so slightly altered picture Kyosuke in God mode as my new avatar tho I admit when reduced to the required size it's a little hard to make out the difference.

*gasp* The status of Steins;Gate actually changed! Hooray for excruciatingly slow Quality Control! lol

Normallly I would wait till I was completely done before popping in but I've been obsessing over kamidori for the last like month and I figured Finishing Yuela's and Serwai route was close enough lol. Adding together both play clocks I've sunk over 180 hours into it so far last time I devoted that much time into a single game it was in pursuit of the Platinum trophy for Skyrim on the ps3 lol. Needless to say I love it my only real problem with it is the stupid way it calculates exp I got so frustrated with the fact that a party member could kill something 10 or so levels higher than they are and they only get 5-10 xp for doing it.

It wasn't that big of an issue on my first run on yuelas route but when I started a NG+ to do serawi's route I broke down and downloaded the trainer cuz I had so many underleveled party members it was the only way I could get them to even be useable. Not to mention that bonus characters like hannah the priestess chick start at lvl 1 but are recruited so late in the game that even a frickin green putetto can one shot them to death.

On a side note the game scored some bonus points by giving boobs jiggly physics in otherwise static scenes lol

This is the only part of the update I ever pay attention to lately lol. I tried to play the existing translation got all the way to chapter 5 but got pissed and gave up because the game would crash hard enough to reoot windows every time I answered a text from the neko chick.

It might have been the fact that I was playing a prepatched version I found a torrent for that was making it all crash prone I'm just too lazy to download the game piece by piece and patch it myself to find out lol

Much like ever17 I decided to give Utawarerumono cuz everyone here that played said it was good. I was not disappointed it was a very good game.

Now that I ranted a bit I will say that I did enjoy the game Anzu was prolly my favorite route and heroine what can I say I'm a sucker for the whole goth loli thing I really really hated the Koko route tho it made me want to strangle yoshiyuki cuz he was so oblivious to what was really going on and chose the worst possible way to handle it.

I do know how it ends I just never bothered to go through the final boss fight to see it firsthand lol.

You know now that I think about it I don't think I ever beat princess waltz..... I think I stopped playing once I got all the sex scenes out of the way lol. I finished Ever 17 and Fate/stay Night a week or 2 ago ever 17 was depressing and confusing for most of the game but the true end was stitched up so nice and neat that I was amazed.

Fate was pretty good I loved the first 2 routes the Heavens Feel route was ok but since I already couldn't stand sakura by then let alone shinji I sort of had to force my way to the end and what happened to saber in that route really really left a bad taste in my mouth too

I'm about to finish Alternative myself I must say it's waaaay better than Unlimited which to me felt incredibly forced since it was tacked onto extra but dear god is the plot depressing as hell at times not that that detracts at all from the game. Anyway back on topic my latest VN conquest I technically have 2 since I was playing both Otoboku and Deus Machina Demonbane at the same time I think I finished Demonbane first if only by a couple hours.

Last one I finished was ef the first tale which I really liked tho finding out that Hiro could only end up with one girl kinda annoyed me. The last one I finished before that was Dengeki Stryker. It was an interesting change of pace but wasn't nearly as good as other overdrive VNs I've played
