  1. I'm feelin pretty into it, but remember I'm on a campus of 20K+ students. A lot of people see the bulletin boards every day, and I covered all the cafeterias. Otherwise, we do want to work on 3-4 projects at once, since a lot of us have free time. As for the meetup thing, I also run a game design group for indie games, and having a place to meet up is a must have. Couldn't work without it, so I'm kinda OCD about it.

But on your skeptical note, I do fully understand that. To be TOTALLY honest I was a bit surprised myself, and I am still skeptical as to how motivated these guys are. We all JUST met this week, so I am 95% just hoping this gets off the ground. If it starts to die too quickly I'll be upfront and honest about it, but we haven't gotten to the stage where e\we've even DONE anything yet, so can't tell for sure atm.

Don't wait for people to start working. Make them.

  2. to everyone who said the fliers idea wouldn't work.... Ha! Got 8 people all ready to go. That was issue 1/3. However, now we have issue number 2/3: Finding a place to work. We all live across campus from each other so at best we could meet once per week, which isn't good. Right now we're looking for a place to work together in case we need to spend the night. After that... The last issue will be having the coders play a few games first so they get the idea. Any ideas for test games they could try? Don't recommend games that you like, recommend ones that have fantastic guis. I'll make a separate thread in the appropriate area for requests once we get that far. We're hoping to get started once we hit 15 people. Currently out team consists of these people (by their chosen nicknames):

Me - avid player, beta tester, coder, and error analysis

lunchbox - japanese translator and scripter (works on gui text)

    tesla - coder only

turntable - japanese translation and moral support xd

zoe (my gf) - recruitment, supplies, food, beta tester, and team management

    zz - translator only

mr pickles - translator and quality control (i think you guys call it editing)

tits (yes that's the name he chose) - no clue what the hell this guy does. He only speaks japanese, but he's a great programmer. I have yet to have a conversation with him.

Hoping to get started this coming summer after exams. That's our end goal. The one thing we all have in common is that we eat at the same place, so that's a plus.

    o_o. . .

  3. 2/10

at least you tried. that part of your job ruined it.

MGQ is a game with no plot, it's just an eroge to make virgins jerk off. nothing more. this is how the audience of MGQ looks like.

I don't even get boner from masochistic stuff and disgusting types of monster girls (actually anything with tentacles) but I still liked it - the story was actually better than some other VNs I played before.

  4. those just take away the h-scenes. moenovel takes away the h-scenes. and other nudity. and the kissing scenes. and the sex jokes. and the innuendos. and any mention of anything that has anything to do with sex.

Do they really intend to "reach a wider audience"?

  5. ^ Well, like I've said before, I don't really care whether a random protag in a random VNs is voiced or not. I'm indifference.

But since we're giving examples, let's take a look.

    - Otoboku has voiced protag, but that doesn't stop the story from being dull. -.-

    - Saya no Uta has great story and with Fuminori being voiced, it makes the story even more awesome. But this is because the VN relies heavily on its main characters mental state and action to move the story.

    - Morita Kenichi from Sharin no Kuni doesn't have voice, but he's still considered as one of the badass protag ever.

It's all boiled down to the story. If the writer is good enough to expand the main character personality and depth, then the protag will be awesome. Voiced protag is just a bonus. At least it is to me. I won't deny that sometimes a VNs might require a voiced protag to help make the story more believable, though. I just don't care. :p

    O_O you win

  6. Voiced or unvoiced, I don't really care either way. All I care about is whether the story is good or not.

It's not always right. For example Chaos;Head would be a lot worse if the protagonist was not voiced because atmosphere of the game would not be as depressing as it should be.
