Playing the game Windows/Macintosh: run the Famous Writer executable/application. Famous Writer uses QuickTime to read the data files, so please make sure you have it installed. (QuickTime should already be installed if you have iTunes.) * Warning! If you have QuickTime 7.7 on a Windows computer, the game will fail on startup. Please use QuickTime 6.5 or QuickTime Alternative instead. The game itself is a standard sound novel, so the controls should not require explanation. Save data is created and stored automatically in the game directory. Known issues 1: Famous Writer does not support Windows 7 or Vista, and although the game is playable to the end, it may crash during play. If you're having trouble running it in one of these OSes, please try the solutions noted under 3 and 4. 2: If you are running Mac OS 10.6, you will need to install Rosetta. Please check here for instructions: Apple - Support Mac OS 10.7 does not support PowerPC applications, so there is no way to run the game under that OS as of yet. 3: Unable to open "habataki.wav" QuickTime may fail to read the game data, resulting in this error. Please install one of the versions of QuickTime noted earlier in this file. 4: Unable to open "msg-hatoful.jpg" This error may occur when playing the game in Windows. Right click on Famous Writer.exe, and go to Properties. Set the application to run in compatibility mode and as a root user.
