  1. Well, without getting too mushy about it, I want to offer my heartfelt gratitude to Maoh, Gerard the Lone Wolf and Dark Sin for their help. I followed their various suggestions and it worked. I downloaded the game and I played it. Thanks a lot. I'm sure there will be more "questions" as I pursue the hobby (which is what it is to me) but I've got a nice start.
  2. Well, Dark Sin gave me this link to Zippyshare.com for, I guess, software that would make it possible for me to be able to change locales to Japanese. I downloaded it, now what. If I go to the Control panel and try install Eastern Asian Languages I'll be asked to provide a CD Rom, which I don't have. I think this Zippyshare download is supposed to remedy that but I sure don't know how.
  3. Thanks for your help but alas, I'm a dummy so tell me what I do after I've downloaded the Zippyshare file. Do I extract it to a particular folder, if so does matter where? Once it's there is that supposed to be the location of the files when Windows prompts me to insert the CD-Rom or point to the location of the files? I'm just not clear on what I'm supposed to do after I've downloaded the Zippyshare file. Can you spell it out for me, please?
  4. First off, thanks to you and to Maoh as well for being willing to help. What I've run into is this, I have Windows XP and your guide to changing locales doesn't work for XP unless you have the CD rom that's required and I don't. So ... I'll have to figure out how to get that before I go any further. If I can't change the locale, and it appears I can't without the CD -- and believe me I tried -- then I'll have to get that settled first. However, I'm keeping your guide close by and thanks again for your time.
  5. Okay, I'm new, I don't seem to know the first thing about how to go about downloading these games. On another site it was suggested I add Japanese but since I don't have that Windows XP Pro CD that didn't help. Since these games are in English I'm hoping I fair better. I wrote the Web master of this forum but I assume that he decided that wasn't his area and so I never heard anything back. So ... I've got Daemon Tools, I've got Windows XP, Firefox is my browser. That's the basics. I've got WinRar. Now what? I need some step by step stuff -- yes, you may consider me a mindless idiot if it makes you feel better. Frankly, I don't give a damn what your assessment of my intelligence is as long as you give me some help and make that help understandable for a newbie. I should hasten to add that I'm 'way beyond being in my 20's so what seems to be common place to a lot of the gamers here is not to me. I will tell you what I do know so you don't waste your time on every single step. I know how to use file sharing host and that I need all the files before I try and open them. I know to use the first part to begin the opening process. Whent it's a movie, I usually click on Extract Here. After that, I'm not sure what's next. Now you know what I know -- it ain't a hell of a lot, to be sure. If you're willing to help, I'd appreciate it. If not, then feel free to ridicule those who are honest enough to admit they need it. Ogleman:confused:
  6. Well, lest this go on indefinitely I'll accept the apology and move on and be back on board when I've followed some of the suggestions I've been given. That's all for now. I'll be back when I have something I think is worth sharing.
  7. Interesting assessment. Totally wrong but interesting. How many 12 year old's do you know who express themselves in the manner that I choose? It may well be that you're uncomfortable with my sincerity and honesty. If so, then so be it. But no, I'm sure as hell not 12 years old. Because one lacks skills in certain area doesn't automatically mean that they must be inexperienced in all. Are you 20 years old? Moreover being savvy on a computer shouldn't qualify as the end all be all skill in this life. Technology is a two edged sword and I have, at best, a love-hate relationship with it. A computer is no more than a tool. It's a useful tool, a valueable tool and in many ways an amazing tool. But a tool nonetheless. It's a funny thing but you know before we could download this and digitize that and e-mail, etc. we were able to live just fine. You might just think about this before you assume that someone who comes to technologly later than the majority is "12 years old".
  8. Will do and thanks for your gracious reply. I'm sure this won't be the last time I ask for assistance. But I'll learn, I'll learn. After all I eventually learned how to be comfortable using a computer -- much later than some, I might add. So ... wish me well in my quest.
  9. I stand corrected, and certainly am willing to admit my error in saying I received no response. I had not checked my e-mail and therefore didn't know folks had responded. Thanks. I'll try and follow up on the suggestions when I'm back in town. I'll be gone for a while so I doubt that I'll get around to any more progress for a few weeks. But I do appreciate the assistance. As for the comment regarding my finding another forum. I'll do some more exploring before I make that decision though I do think the response was a bit over the top in light of my comments. I don't think my comments should be interpreted to infer that there were not games worth playing on the site, only that the one I picked wasnt' -- in my opinion. Even so, one would assume that being critical of the content of a particular game on this or any site would be well within the realm of legitimate discussion, without folks assuming that I'm making a blanket statement about the whole eroge game thing -- I say this because of Caelistas' remarks. However, if in fact the majority of the games fall within the realm of Secret Wives Club then I would most certainly spend my time elsewhere from this site. But as it has been pointed out to me, such is not the case. So I'll hang around here for awhile and see if I think my being here is a good fit or not. And as I am a newbie then it's very natural for me to be unaware of the variety of games that come under the heading of eroge, VN or whatever. But I shall learn, and I suspect, mostly through trial and error -- which is not to say I'm not open to suggestions. Again thanks for the response.
  10. Well, since my last post I figured out, by sheer guess work, how to get the Secret Wives club game to play. I downloaded the Daemon tool -- whatever the hell that is. It opened the one file and I could play the game. That's the good news. The bad news, I don't care for the game much at all. To me it's much ado about nothing plus it takes an eternity to get to the point of the game -- which I decided was, for me, pointless. I'm hoping to scour the site and see if I can find a game that's not just an excuse to execute a bunch of screwing. If not, the I'll need to look elsewhere I suppose. Maybe some RPG will be better for me. Over and out -- Ogleman65 PS I've yet to receive any response for help from the folks in this forum:cool:. Oh, well ...
  11. Thanks for the welcome. How much I have to contribute will depend pretty much on how I do at actually getting the downloads to work. If I can actually play the games then I might have something to say other than -- what's going on here? However you were correct in assuming my initial motivation in registering was to be able to ask a question. I figure somebody in this forum has got to know the answers to my questions. Right?

  12. As the title suggests, I'm green as grass at this downloading biz where Hentai games, or if you prefer, Eroge games are concerned. What exactly am I supposed to do to get these things to work? Once I've extracted the files to a folder then I get these different components and I don't have a clue as to what they are or what they mean. What is a crack file and why is a crack file necessary? I'm used to just extracting the rar file and there's the movie, ready to play. Not so with this stuff. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to use to open it, after I've extracted the files. So anyone who's willing to help a newbie on this, I sure would appreciate it. I just downloaded Secret Wives Club and I assumed that the Crack file was the file that actually held the game, but I don't know. Anyhow, when I clicked on it to open it I got an error message that said something about "can't use the connected file GGD", whatever the hell that means. Now for those of you who are chuckling over my plight just try and think back to a time when you didn't know squat about this stuff either. In any case, any and all help will be appreciated. And do me a favor, I'm not a computer whiz, (obviously) so keep it simple. Thanks in advance for your help. Ogleman65:confused:
