Just curious of what most people prefer on a very basic level (with every VN basically fitting into one of these two categories...)

Dark themed VN or Love Themed VN.

For me, I'm a kind of an all-rounder, if I like the story, any theme is good for me.

To the date Fate/Stay night followed by Muv-Luv Alternative, the only tho VNs I REALLY enjoyed.

I started from the very beggining since Paradise Heights, then found the Peach Princess games, and finally moved on the translation fan patches. Ohhh the nostalgia. xD

Nah, I already finished playing all eroges ever translated, waiting for Monster Girl Quest Part 2 wich acording to Rogue will be finished past-tomorrow.

Now playing FF XIII-2 on the PS3, several improvements over it's predecessor, I like them both despite what haters say.

Can I get some clarification on some of the rules?

Handle inexperienced members with special patience. There is a first time for everything.

I completely agree with this rule but when is a user still inexperienced? is it up to a specific number of post or how is this determined?

Post count doens't mean anything at all, I could have one million post and still don't know how certain game works or how to do stuff the other members do.

Heres an example:

- Ryu-----> Total Post Count: 300

I go to the eroge section tech support because a patch I'm applying to a certain game doesn't work, the experienced user that got the game to work tells me how to do it, I still can't, he has the patience to teach me step by step, that's what you call a experienced user, and me the inexperienced one.

Good contribution my friend but:

1- Never use imageshack, tinyurl, nor photobucket to host images xD

2- We are trying to help Ivan with the forum structure first, when is finished you can post more contributions but I would like to avoid creating yet offtopic thread, this will give more work to Ivan trying to classify and move to their respective section.

I absolutely mean no harm or bad intentions from what I just said, just my honest toughts.

It looks as though this forum is going to get quite big. Too big for one Admin/Mod to keep an eye on everything.

 

I don't really care who it is but more people should probably become Mods once the forums is fully up an running. What are your thoughts on that Ivan?

I don't think we should touch that topic yet, not until Ivan gets some people of trust to handle the job. Basically a mod job is not only to watch people language or behavior, there are other duties like:

- Having ridiculously high amount of patience towards new users who PM them about stuff they don't know.

- Reading every single new post making sure it doesn't contain unappropiate material or spam.

- Have a reasonable amount of free time, it's not enough to log in just 1-2 hours and leave the forum unattended for the rest of the day.

- If nesessary, edit users posts to fit the forum rules.

- Taking huge amount of angry PMs when you punish users, you explain them why, and still yell at you.

- Even if you're boiling in anger you have to answer politely to every question someone make you. Mods are the face of the forum and have to act as such. And many many more I'm forgetting.

Is there a link from erogedownload to erogegames and vice versa?

Because currently i could only find one link to this website and it was in the news section. But in the near future the link won't be on the front page anymore.

Only in the front page, but Ivan will take care of it once he finishes fixing the forum.

Also, would love to add images to the signature and avatar. Will make the forum a bit more colorful.

Maybe they are disabled until the Forum structure is finished.

On the other hand, i think it's important what you write, rather than how you write it. Pointing out small mistakes often derails the thread.

I think of these:

- Courtesy. Show your fellow members the courtesy they deserve and avoid getting into fights/conflicts as much as possible. If a member is being rude to you, ignore them or talk to Ivan (or a mod in the furute) and they will resolve it for you.

- Respect. Respect the staff members -in this case only Ivan.

- Privacy. A rule as old as the internet - don't post your personal information! There are all kinds of nasty people out there who will do bad things with it if they find it. We also suggest renaming any pictures you post from facebook before sharing them, since personal info can be mined from those if you don't.

- Adult Content. This is important, please do keep your avatars and signatures as clean as possible, yaoi and yuri are certainly allow but make sure they are not to the point where they are savagely ripping each other shirt off while on sexual romps; this goes for straight couples as well. Basically anything that wouldn't show up on American cable television.

- Multiple Accounts. You don't need several accounts, one will be enough.

- No Flaming. Simple, straightforward, and a continuation of the Courtesy part.

- Spamming. No double/triple/multiple posting. Don't post anything meaningless (like "nice work!" or "hot render!"). Don't be an adbot and flood the forum with ads, either, that will get you instantly banned.

- Discrimination. Racism, sexism, and any other kinds of degrading discrimination are not allowed at all. If you have a problem with certain differences whether it is culture, sex orientation, or gender, etc... keep it to yourself. If you're found to acted with bigotry of any kind, you will be banned (either temporarily or permanently, depending on the circumstances and admin (Ivan) criteria.)

And for general rules I think that's enough FOR NOW, as the forum grows and more sections are created, more rules have to be applied

If you have records you can see the traffic of how many Gb/Tb people downloaded before the filesonic fiasco and make sub-forums for the Top 10 games maybe?

The hidden sub-forums idea could work wonders, there Ivan will have no problems making hundreds of subforums.

Eroges should have an easy to access walkthrough or a link to one.

Detailed what-to-click-during-install may be useful in some cases.

Solving technical problems was mentioned.

And yes, subforums are a must have.

Walkthroughs and tutorials/troubleshooting are already in the "Home" section, I don't see the need of putting them again in each game thread/sub-forum.

It doesnt have to be about each game, i meant every english game that was uploaded on the site , but if even this will be too much then we should choose the best ones/those we know there will be multiple disccusions and make them a subforums, if we will make each thread a sticky about game then it wont be any different then comments , like it was said before it will be all jumbled mumbled.

I don't think is a good idea to make a sub-forum for each game, considering there are hundreds and the forum will not look good aesthetically speaking. For example:

Eroge Section

- Game 1

- Game 2

- Game 3

- Game 4

- Game 5

- Game 6

- Game 7

- Game 8

- Game 9

- Game 10

What you can do is in a single section like "Eroge talk" make a thread for each of them and make them "Stickys".

EDIT: Thinking about it we will have the same problem like the sub-forums, full of stickys and they will be hard to find.

- Anime Reviews

- Manga Talk

Eroge Section
