  1. could anyone fix the problem of the game suddently going soundless?

I'm gonna assume that this is not the same problem as the one that exists with NNL's release of ef -a fairy tale of the two. In that one there is no background music in the main menu and also not in the prologue if I recall correctly.

But you said soundless anyway so I guess even the voices stopped working. That shouldn't be the case in any release.

  2. Can anyone help me with the issue of not able to run the game in Windows 7 and later? Every time I did, it keeps popping up "Ever17 has stopped working" and the only choice is to close it. Tried running in different compatibility modes but doesn't work either (do they ever solve anything?) So anyone got any ideas?

Well that shouldn't be the main problem since I've always been able to run Ever17 on Windows 7.

Check this thread: [sOLVED] Ever 17 on Windows 8.1? - Voluntary Tech Support - Fuwanovel They're talking about Windows 8.1, but maybe you have the same problem anyway. Try this .exe file that they posted on there: goo.gl/mFdncf (I just tried it myself and it works fine)

If that doesn't solve the problem, then check this out: Ever17 -The Out of Infinity- - Page 70 - AnimeSuki Forum Basically, using "Windows XP mode" rather than just "Windows XP compatibility mode". They're two different things. But you need to install some shit to utilize Windows XP mode. Check the thread page that I linked for info.

Still, I haven't had to do any of the above in order to run Ever17. I'm using Windows 7 Home 64bit.

  3. Seems like this will be an interesting ride.

It definitely will be. An interesting ride? Sharin no Kuni? Yea for sure. It kinda sounds like you're into stories like these, so it's pretty much guaranteed for you.

Have a good time with it!

  4. It's not a bad game but the translation of the official US release was really bad. Is this a re-translation or is this the original US release?

It's the US version of the game.

  5. Any ideas on how to get the background music to work? I tried downloading the Combined-Community-Codec-Pack but for some reason it wouldn't install properly.

Have you just started with this VN? If so: There's no music playing on the main menu or at the very beginning of the story, so don't worry and just keep going.

Edit: Nevermind, just saw you asked the same thing elsewhere and got the answer you wanted there (same as my answer).

  6. i think i will use the a fairy tale of the two version .

will mangagamer release the latter tale ?

it is good or bad comparing with the mangagamer release ?

so the differences between this and Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two is that MG has NO censored, only the first part and some dialogues changed ?

You might as well go with this version, yes. It's totally fine, really. And yea MG will release the latter tale eventually as far as I know, but there's almost no reason at all to wait for it if you feel like reading Ef right now.

  7. Hi, is this the ISO version? I am downloading by torrent right now, I am hoping that this is the ISO.

Perhaps you already know this now, but for anyone else who might be curious: This is the DRM-free download edition of the game. After you have extracted the .rar files, you simply use Moero_3_Setup.exe to install the game.

  8. Hello!

This place feels lonely... and that's not good at all! I absolutely adore Ever17. It's a visual novel that everyone must read. No exceptions. I doubt I'll ever get to experience a better mystery VN than this one myself. It was that good for me. 10/10!

But I didn't want to make this post just to tell you the above. No, I wanted to share with you some very cool patches for Ever17 that you might not be aware of. Kudos to desi for letting me know about them. And yes, I can confirm that the patches are working. It's awesome stuff, especially for someone who wants to re-read this VN.

Oh, and I decided to upload them to mediafire/sendspace since the torrents can be slow at times. Choose whichever download method you prefer. Enjoy!

    Ever17 Xbox360 BGM Patch

    Torrent

    Mediafire

This patch replaces the original PC music with the Xbox360 music. Yes, there is an untranslated Xbox360 remake of Ever17. With this patch you can now read the PC version with the music from that Xbox360 version. Please note that you may still end up preferring some/many/all of the PC songs over the Xbox360 ones. It'll come down to personal taste. Either way, it's very nice to have the option of using this patch at least. It's especially good for those of us who might want to re-read this VN at some point, as I mentioned before.

Put the "bgm.dat" file in the main folder of Ever17. Remember to first make a backup of the original bgm.dat file, or rename it. That way you can easily switch back to the original PC music whenever you feel like doing so.

    Ever17 Voice+SFX Patch

    Torrent

    Mediafire: part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4 - part 5 - part 6

This patch gives you the higher quality voices and sound effects from the PS2 version of Ever17. It makes it sound better in general, so just get it!

The installer actually only consists of two files, "voice.dat" and "se.dat". If you want, you can just make it install to the desktop, and then put those two files yourself in the main folder of Ever17. You might want to make backups of the original voice.dat and se.dat files, or rename them. Just in case.

  9. ^ Pleeeease spoiler tag some of that, DarkSin.

But yes, it's a great VN alright, in several ways. It's something very different from the usual, which is certainly commendable.

Damn... There are more posts in this thread that needs spoiler tagging as well.

  10. this is just about one of my favourite eroges ive ever played, played all stories (i think) except yayoi and i have to say i absolutely loved kanade's story, had a very good plot and story to it,

anybody got some eroges to recommend havin a hard time finding good ones =/

You love good plot and story?

Then let me name a few that shouldn't be missed, ever:

Muv-Luv series (first Muv-Luv, then Muv-Luv Alternative after that) - Note that it is MLA that is the real masterpiece here, but you should read ML first either way since it serves as a prologue. This series is perfect entertainment and there is no way you should ever miss it if you read VNs.

But what is it about exactly? Well that depends on which part we're talking about. So let's just talk about the real important part here then: MLA.

A war drama, a life-and-death drama, that makes you FEEL things over and over and over. MLA has an incredible amount of special moments in it that will stay with you for... well... forever, really. Tears will be shed, and it will be glorious when it happens everytime. But let us not forget about the deep characters! Or the brilliant dialogue. Or the superb voice acting. Or the fantastic music. Or the perfect visuals (art+effects). Or, of course, the marvellous overall plot, that ultimately spans across the entire series. MLA has ridiculously high production values, to say the least. This VN will stay with you forever. It is as simple as that. READ THIS SERIES. NOW. Also, Sumika DMP.

Ever17 - Do you like mysteries? Then look no further than E17. It is full of different sized twists, and also holds the biggest one of them all that will no doubt make your brain explode 5476431253254 times over. Well, perhaps a bit more than that. In any case, you absolutely must read E17 if you enjoy mysteries.

Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo - Behold! The VN with the best protagonist, Kenichi. But let's not forget about the other superb characters in it, such as Houzuki and Natsumi. Sharin is indeed extremely fun to read with some excellent drama and backstories for the characters. The overall story? Something serious, something powerful, something interesting, and something meaningful. Enjoy it.

Sharin no Kuni, Yuukyuu no Shounenshoujo - Fandisc of the above. Houzuki's route is THE main thing worth reading on it. If you liked the main game (which you should), don't forget about this fandisc. Ari!

Fate/stay night - A long and very fun to read fantasy VN. Cool battles and cool characters (magnificent antagonist). Note that the most fun will be had during the second and third routes (UBW, HF). Should not be missed by anyone who likes to read VNs in general.

G-senjou no Maou - If you liked Sharin, then you absolutely must read G-senjou as well. A brilliant thriller VN with some nice and interesting characters. Very entertaining, especially so when doing the true route and its ending.

ef - a fairy tale of the two. - Would you like to see something emotional? Something meaningful? Beautiful romance perhaps? Then ef is good for you. Don't expect greatness early in the VN however, that comes later on... and yes, it is most definitely greatness.

999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors - An excellent mystery VN on the Nintendo DS. That's right, it is not a PC game. However, if you do not own a real NDS, you could always play it through an emulator. You can find the rom of the game (required) by searching for it on google. This VN contains some interesting puzzles and a great overall story that just happens to be a bit dark as well. It was written by the same man who wrote E17, and yes, that's important to point out.

Forest - I have never experienced a more unique VN than this. But I have also never read a more hard to understand and original story than the one found in Forest. Do you want to see something extremely surreal? A story that is hard to grasp? Then this is the one for you. Yes, it's important to remember that this VN is ultimately not for everyone... at all.

Saya no Uta - From one unique VN to another! I think that Saya no Uta is a great achievement when it comes to dark VNs. Indeed, the story in this will most likely disturb you plenty of times, in a good way. Very interesting stuff. Best read in the complete dark, alone, with a headset. Immerse yourself in the wickedness that is Saya.

There are more. I have not read all of the greats myself yet. But these are some of them at least.

  11. I just got to the part where Chousen appears. IS HE VOICED BY NORIO WAKAMOTO?????? I have to recheck it, I almost doubled over when I heard his voice, considering I just finished Muv-Luv (he voiced the base commander) and I also had Sharin a few months ago. I really can't imagine it, but my ears are screaming Wakamoto when I hear it. Also, I'm in love with the silent type, and Ren's demeanor is so much like Ayamine's from Muv-Luv.

Yep, think you got that right. He sure is good. Houzuki :p
