  1. Since the forums are rather dead and the shoutbox and the site in general are dead as well, we are going to do our best to revive this place. To start it off, we are going to try and do a monthly visual novel reading club. A few different members will choose a visual novel to nominate to get voted on and then after a week whichever visual novel has the most votes is the novel that we will all read. After the voting we will make a new thread to discuss the novel and talk about important things like who is the best waifu etc. We can use this thread to discuss why we voted for a certain novel or whatever.

This month we have chosen Geass, Pasa, and myself to nominate the novels.

Edelweiss: https://vndb.org/v903 "How hard would you study if a good GPA could take you to a sex paradise? Kazushi and his buddies are fed up with their poor grades and boring high school life. Just when their sex crave was ready to burst out, they found out about the exchange student program to a girls high school on an isolated island: A ticket to sex paradise!"

Never7 - The End of Infinity: https://vndb.org/v248 "You play as Makoto, a student who never attends the lectures at the school. As a punishment, you have to attend an extra seminar on an island with other classmates. However, when you arrive on the island, strange things start happening. A girl is found dead on April 6th, with a small bell in her hand. Immediately after that, you found yourself in the bed and see the date - April 1st! Was the vision of the girl just a dream, or do you possess a power to predict events? This is what you will have to find out, as a series of strange deaths make your seminar much more suspenseful than you have thought."

Noble Works: https://vndb.org/v4806 "Takumi is a normal guy who barely gets by with part-time jobs. One day, he was asked to attend the prestigious private school Rokuroku Gakuen while impersonating a rich student that looks just like him. Although he was hesitant to accept this strange request, circumstances (mainly financial) compelled him to agree to do it. However, he knows nothing about the celeb world. Will he be able to keep his cover?"

  2. I would just go with the alt-enter method (and press it twice if you want to play in windows). While displaying the "display effects" option does make the game work, you have to go through a lot more hoops to do that and even once you do disable it that doesn't really fix it since upon restarting the game it goes back to that black screen even though the display effects are off. You can then get it back to normal again by turning it back on and repeating this on/off process every time you restart the game. I'm guessing just messing with the config options in general will cause the game to work but I didn't actually test that. With that said, it's just a lot easier to hit alt-enter upon starting the game to get the display showing.

  3. Should definitely watch Azumanga Daioh, especially given how influential it is. I pretty much agree with everything everyone else has already said. I'd also recommend School Rumble and Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita. School Rumble has a more romance focus than other shows listed here but its one of my favorite show, still very funny and very nostalgic for me. Jinrui is kind of ridiculous but in a very good way. Can't really imagine anyone not liking the show.

  4. I recently got into fighters and now we must all play them together. So far I only really play BlazBlue and now Skullgirls but I have psnow which has a ton of fighters so w/e. I'm pretty awful, but I'm sure some of you are too.

Post some fighters you guys have and give us times to play. If we get enough people for a certain game, maybe we can set up a tournament to declare the ultimate weeb something.

I'll update the OP or something of who plays what as reference.

  5. Finished G-Senjou and have mixed feelings about the game

Most of the heroine side routes were rather shitty. The whole Maou doesn't exist anymore in their routes and the overly cheesy endings (esp in Bakii's) was pretty lame. They did offer more insight on the character though, which was nice. It offered more insight on Kyousuke's condition as well.

Maou being MC's brother was rather predictable as soon as they mentioned he existed in Chapter 3, so it wasn't a twist or surprise. In the beginning, like chapter 1, I thought it was MC but as the game progressed it was clear that'd be way too obvious of a solution for him to really be Maou. As soon as they mentioned he had a brother, it became clear that he was Maou.

Also thought Maou was a bit too overpowered. Basically predicting every single thing that Haru and the gang would come up with. I thought him escaping at the end of chapter 5 after the whole bus incident was especially ridiculous. When that epilogue started, it was like srsly.

With all that said, the game was very interesting nonetheless. The game had an amazing OST filled with generally good characters (Shiratori
