Little Witch Romanesque

Recommended Posts

After having played abit of Romanesque - gotta admit I'm a little worried about the inevitable shitstorm that may occur if this gets enough attention on Steam's greenlight. Even if they make it "all-ages" Jast is pushing out a fairly "old-fashioned" interpretation of woman, at a time when feminazis groups are in full-throttle. It's like Jast didn't bother to look outside their bubble at all to see how various groups of people are acting in the media scene this past year.

If this gets the wrong kind of attention - it could seriously sour/deter any interest to localize VNs outside of Japan.

I mean, I'm actually liking Romanesque more then I thought I would - but unless they step very carefully (esp. certain cgs/poses, and the lack of clothing on Seph), this could get blown out of proportion very fast. Sigh - at least VNs like Grisala - or actually a large majority of modern anime and VNs - mostly depict female characters as strong, intelligent, and independant people - all positive reinforcements (setting aside the obvious sexualization and objectification). Romanesque tends to go with the whole "stay cute and in the kitchen" approach for the most part.

Just think they could have picked a better title to bring into the publics eye - hell, a all ages Yumina brought to Steam would have been far safer imo. Don't ge me wrong - I realize that all I've said is up to subjective perspective, even the most "equal" anime's and VNs could be considered sexist to one degree or another, but Romanesque stands out like a blinking light imo (from what I have read thus far)~

/random ramblings off

Setting that aside, Romanesque is alright - the RNG of the dice kinda piss me off, but meh.

Just rush a playthrough without doing quests. That way you get the first ending, Students Forever, and every single spell. Once Aria has Immutare, Celero and Imitor Ars, and Kaya has Moderatio Animal, Bolidis and Revivificare, you should be able to max out your learning every time without any effort on your part.

Wonder if anyone has a walkthrough of this game? Even with the build that doesn't take any effort to get spirit, it's still annoying, since spells, unless for learning, don't roll over.

I am played romanesque quite a bit, clocked over 50 hours on it, completed most of the routes, but still no 100%

For the training lesson at the start i used : 3x ignis first 3 days, tempero ignis 2x next 2 days, and a big area of effect that hits dice on the last one, you can easily get 500 on all the stats, that until u get revificare, and other high end spells for the girls, that makes gathering sprit just a annoying chore. That's why on the second playthrough i just went for spells and finding a good combo for some easy spirit.

Questing wise you can't complete everyting no matter what, you will get behind very quick in the later part of the game (year 3), so just make an objectiv at the start for a certain character and just do the quest for her, learning spells for that, and if you don't have quest related to it just go diplomas or some other quests for some CG.

So yeah, that all the advice i can give for the game, you don't really need a gude for this one, a lot of time is needed, that being said i am burned out on it, might pick it up later for a 100% but i doubt it.

Good luck

You do need a guide, because you need to do some quests in order to unlock other quests, doing it by trial and error will take a lot longer than I am willing to spend lol.

Heh, I complained that steam was branching into more software and media yet VNs seemed to have been left out. Seeing Sakura Spirit and NekoPara on sale has reversed this opinion of mine. //rambling

Its a shame that Little Witch doesn't portray the girls more strongly or independent, i would have thought that a mahou shoujo type deal place an emphasis on those qualities. Hopefully the gameplay is good and story is enjoyable.

@Riddle - your spell suggestions really helped out, thanks. :)

Can any of you give advice on how to open up Princess Fianna's route? She's the only one I haven't been able unlock - I'm assuming theres something I should/should not be doing. Over in downloads a poster was saying something about the party near the end of the 1st year, but it was kind of vague.

EDIT: NM, figured it out. :)

A little guide for those that need help on training.

First of all, at least get Cealestis Flos and if possible, Celero, on your first play through and Tempero Ignis on both girls as soon as possible. Both are in Aria's tree. After you get these spells go into one of the routes, these start after the you finish the 2nd exam, they appear when you have enough love points* with someone and will appear as a star icon.

Now in your 2nd playthrough, it's actually possible to get most if not all the spells. To get the most of your training be sure to use Celero at the start and then use Caelestis Flos after. If you do not have Celero, then the use a spell that increases you dice on your first turn by both girls , then on your second turn, make both girls use Tempero Ignis followed by Caelestis Flos by Aria.

The combo I used for this picture is

1: Aria: Celero(f) Kaya:Invitare Spiritus(f)

2: Aria: Conficere Par(f) Kaya: Dicere Herba (f)

3: Aria: Caelestis Flos(f) Kaya: Dicere Herba(f)

4-5: Free choice

6: Aria: Caelestis flos (Keep tapping the dice until you get it) Kaya: Free choice

(f) = force the magic

Bonus tip -> Caelestis flos is hand hand gem, and you can keep hitting the dice 1-2 secs after any dice stop. This means that if you did not get the dice you want, keep bumping the dices and don't stop.

By week 123 on your second playthough, it should look something like this or better if you do not waste turns.

Here is where I make an extra save so I can come back every time I finish a route, because with this many spells open, I can easily access any spell on the page.

How do you get this spell? I didn't see it anywhere (just finished my first playthrough)

Celero branches off Murus Magicus, which is below Columna Glacialis. The spell is needed for Olivia's route(which I did for my first playthough). You need to get the book, Librum Exsecratio to unlock the 2nd expansion for Aria's spells. You get this book by completing a quest with a book item icon on the bottom(Not the spellbook for increasing the spirit)
