hey all is there a way to check if a game is censored or uncensored before downloading it? or a way to search for games by tag? im still pretty new to all this so i thought id ask. cheers!

I'm not certain about tags but most games that are translated are censored. If a game is translated and released by a Western company there's a chance it'll be uncensored, in this case look for games from MangaGamer, JAST USA, and in some cases DLsite.

The website vndb.org (visual novel database) is a fairly comprehensive listing of all VN's in existence. You can search for game via tag there. Note, the site is just a catalogue of their existence and general information about each title.
