One day, after the incident related to the Killing Stone, Natsu was tending the shrine alone when the mayor of a neighboring village approached her. According to the mayor, his village was under attack by youkai and gravely in need of an exorcist. Unfortunately, Natsu was no exorcist, but a goddess... She pondered this to herself before assuring the mayor that she would still do all she could to assist them. And so began Natsu's journey to the mayor's village to eliminate the evil youkai once and for all.

When Keika receives a request to vanquish youkai, her younger sister, Hatsuka, is already out on another quest. Determined to set a good example for her less disciplined sibling, who often fails to show up to training, Keika visits the village Shinto priest who made the request. This priest tells her of a giant monkey youkai who has led other youkai on a rampage in and around his village. She confidently accepts the request alone, believing that her powers as a priestess would help overcome them...

On her way home after completing a quest to exorcise a terrible youkai, Hatsuka Otowa receives a phone call from Mizumori Shrine—the Shinto shrine her family has run for generations. It's her father, who wants her to set out on a new quest immediately. Having barely returned from her previous one, Hatsuka complains. Why does she have to go, and not her older sister, Keika? But in the end she strikes a deal with her dad and agrees. On arriving at the shrine that sent out the SOS, a young priest greets Hatsuka and informs her that youkai have started to appear in the neighborhood, along with som
