I do the same, i have like 5 vns im in the middle of and starting like 4 more lol. its because whenever i get close to the end im like i don't want it to be over so i stop and its the same with anime haha

Don't get me wrong i don't mind bumps in the road to a happy end, i love more than anything when there are lots of emotional scenes or where the protag gets hurt or something Things like THIS if you want to watch zero no tsukaima and havent before this will spoil the 2nd season end are my favorite! that is probably my favorite scene in anime,

Not that I don't like the bad guy winning (unless its not a likeable villian) I prefer having happy ends with my love stories hahaha

Oh once the romance (my favorite part of a vn, the moments you can see they both are starting to have feelings) starts dropping hints It barrages you with how it will end which is too depressing T.T and oh my god that vn looks creepy and sad as hell the opposite of what i expected.
