  1. If only more westerners could make non-shitty VNs and anime....well. I can't spend all day fantasizing. But I have to agree that the main reason that eroge will never spread to the West is that the Japanese give absolutely no shits about foreigners. They are content in being their own, self-sustaining culture, and have absolutely no reason (at least, in their mind) to expand beyond that.

  2. Yes, the VN as a medium has a lot of potential for development, especially when you consider that what we have translated is really only scraping the top of the barrel. There's so much more that could be done with it if more people were aware of its existence. Really, the biggest obstacle is that most of what gets translated/is popular is eroge, but I think that, with more interest in all-ages games, a transition could slowly be made. The release of Narcissu in English a few years ago generated a wave of awareness of VNs and was part of the inspiration of the developers of Katawa Shoujo, which, although it honestly isn't the best VN in the world, managed to capture the interest of a large number of fans outside of Japan and did a fairly decent job of introducing eroge in more approachable manner.

  3. After several minutes of blankly staring, I finally chose Kuchiki Touko from Kara no Shoujo. Throughout the story, she gives off an impression of fragility, as though she could just wither away at any moment, but lives life with a carefree, almost whimsical, manner. She is alone, but has no problem with that; she is content to simply exist, but still wishes to know who or what she truly is. Hmmm....actually, I would very much like to be her....

But I think I shall end up living a little while longer...

  4. A humorous line from Demonbane.

The Lord God made Man in His image. Into a clump of clay breathed He life, and the First Man, Adam, was formed.

How great the works of God.

How great the works of God.

    But Lord, oh Lord.

Our eyes fail us, and we cannot see You.

We grope for You blindly in the darkness.

Thirsting for Your Presence, we seek to follow in Your footsteps.

    We infringe upon Your domain.

How sinful the works of Man.

How sinful the works of Man.

And today, once again, a sinner is born.
