Maybe a weird question...

I'm looking for recommendations for... anything, really. I don't care if it's an anime, manga, visual novel, whatever (as long as it's been translated to English, at least). I want a yuri series with an actual relationship. Endless episodes of girls half-flirting and blushing at each-other doesn't count. An actual relationship, where both parties acknowledge that they're into the other, go on dates, have dumb arguments, whatever. There are series that focus on straight couples instead of teasing confessions, even if they're vanishingly rare, but I don't know of any lesbian works like this.

 

I don't mind porn, but works where the relationship is in service to the porn (like the Sono Hana VNs) are not what I'm looking for.

I've certainly never seen anything like that, and I've been around the block. I've also never seen a human-like black character in Japanese media. Sad. There are a few hints at what you're looking for in anime like R.O.D. and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, but nothing concrete. I was reading something about Grim Grimoire, and that seemed like a kickass game. I'd say your best bet is probably manga though, just because there's so many of them.

Try Girl Friends (manga). It has definitely the best shoujo ai stuff I've seen so far.
