Visual Novels Translation Status [05/03/2015]

It's not really about what "individuals" like/dislike - nor even personal morality - it boils down to societal opinion. If enough people where to notice and take offense, it could become a scape goat for the mob mentality.

It's easy to fall into the naive common sense "we all have different feelings and views, let's just agree to disagree.", until a larger group of people decide your way is wrong and should be condemned. Suddenly it doesn't matter what anyone has to say or think, only that you agree with them~

And that's my sleepy random musing on majority rule. :p

Except MangaGamer isn't pushing this to society at large. Society is pretty good at ignoring its less savory elements if they keep to themselves. I mean, look at all the extreme fetish porn out there. Society knows it exists, but ignores it. Euphoria pretty much falls into the same category of "extreme porn for weirdos" and will receive the same treatment. As long as MangaGamer doesn't try to push this game on anyone who doesn't want it, they will be ignored.

More or less this. Most the people in this community seem to more or less know each other, I get that its trying to expand, but even then the groups its reaching out is already a focused/subset of a minor group. (yes, I'm putting anime/manga as a whole in a "minor" group as far as society is concerned). To be honest, aside from people who even understand the basics of anime/manga in the first place, which actually isn't that common, the a game like euphoria would be considered the same as something like air or da capo. The truth is people tend to fall into 3 categories even when it comes to the "anime" community as a whole:

1) they know it and accept/enjoy/tolerate it

2) they don't know what it is, its just cartoons

3) follow under the idea that its just tentacle porn and highschool girl rape

The visual novel/eroge sub community is on a much lower scale than that. I have no clue what the actual statistics would be, but in my experience in terms of "society" the greatest majority falls into #2, and going from there, people into VNs is considerably less than people in #1.

Well, people say Euphoria has a good story, despite all the weird shit. I can see why - the premise itself seems interesting. I'll read it someday.

Isnt the premise Saw: eroge style?
