TakiMinase 148
Some nice updates there ... I also had to look for those JAST ones, didn't believe the updates were real (also, it seems you might have missed to update it on earlier weeks cause it was announced earlier xD) ... But overall, nice updates ... Seabed, SubaHibi, Muv-Luv Alternative, Sharin no Kuni ... even Princess X (I am interested in it quite frankly xD) ... Good, good This is turning out to be a good year for visual novel fans Edit: Here's a little update from me this time: The minori fund-raising project - Help visual novel developer, minori, in completing the Supipara Series! Supipara Chapter 2 is almost at the 200k mark so it's possible it will reach the goal by a month or two xD ... And with that done, we will safely be able to conclude that this way to fund VNs is obviously a mistake - minori might see an error in their ways, pack up their bags and go to Scam Project ... Why you ask? Simple, they have the most experience running kickstarters for visual novels and minori will see that as a new way to make some money. MG will obviously get NTRed again ... Which I hate by the way cause I like MG the most out of all VN localizers ... Edited August 6, 2017 by TakiMinase

I mean, I think it's nice that they're funding it based on the sales of the previous VN / chapters but 200k is already a pretty big amount, not to mention it was simply in order to translate the first two chapters. Too bad.

I feel like they are being too greedy with this fund-raising, common, 200k just to translate the chapters already available in japanese? this two chapters aren't even particularity long and they were a failure in japan so I don't get the overly ambitious kickstarter fund raising. I don't know what is the goal for the next chapter but it will take a long time if they reach it at all.

TakiMinase 148
I agree with that, but didn't they set the bar way too high right at the start? I mean, I think it's nice that they're funding it based on the sales of the previous VN / chapters but 200k is already a pretty big amount, not to mention it was simply in order to translate the first two chapters. Too bad. Well, you do have a point on that, it is indeed asking for too much ... basically, they are asking for 200k just to TL first two chapters of Supipara that were a failure in Japan and then 300k to develop and TL 3 more chapters and that should have somehow fixed the already flawed Supipara ... They were overly ambitious with that, I agree. Maybe they would have had more success with this idea if it weren't for such high raising funds goals, it's hard to believe minori didn't expect that something like this would have occured considering Supipara was virtually an unknown VN in the community (I think it still even is xD, rarely do I see any good discussions about it on the net). Some of the way more interesting VNs on kickstarter had way lower funding goals (Root Double, Dies irae, etc.) and minori really has no right to ask 500k for Supipara, let's be honest here. On the other hand, maybe I shouldn't be so jugdemental towards their funding goals considering I don't know how much really a development for a VN costs, maybe they couldn't have made it without that kind of money. I don't know really but I still find it to be a mistake, it's obvious Supipara flopped in the west just as the same as it did in Japan, I'd have liked more if they instead used that money for something else, like for example, MG localizing Natsuzora no Perseus (https://vndb.org/v10597) or 12 no Tsuki no Eve (https://vndb.org/v12562). Supipara was already too ambitious of a project in the start. That being said, the reason why I mentioned this in the first place, is because I don't know what would have happened if Sekai had been minori's partner. They have obvious talents for rising money on KS, even though I find 500k too much, Sekai has better marketing than MG and they might have been able to raise that kind of money, no matter how outrageous it is. And thinking about that, I see minori going for Sekai one day (we all know how much Japanese devs like the smell of money) and that's what bothers me more, MG seems to be losing ground with some VN developers. That's why I originally mentioned this, I am concerned about MG being behind Sekai. I think it's going to get canceled at some point soon, I don't see them reaching the 500k goal, at least not for ... years to come xD ... I definitively don't see it happening. It was too much ambitious.
Azengar 12
I'm not much of a fan of Sekai and their kickstarters too much either but we're finally seeing a lot of VN officially translated in English and I'm definitely very happy about that. I don't participate in kickstarters anyway I'm just hoping we'll get good translations which matters much more to me. Another thing bugging me is the prices Sekai put on their games, how the fuck are they selling visual novels at 50 bucks on steam??

Another thing bugging me is the prices Sekai put on their games, how the fuck are they selling visual novels at 50 bucks on steam?? Yes, I agree on that, we have lots of more officially translated VNs than in any other time in the VNs history and I am happy about that as well. As for how Sekai is selling visual novels at huge prices - that one is a mystery beyond me as well, I don't think there's enough Steam fags willing to drop so much cash on "no gameplay games" xD ... So it's mostly KS money that keeps them running I guess ... It makes a very nice safety cushon for Sekai, they will never fall down unless the KS money starts running dry ... Not that I care in particular considering I am pirating most of their stuff anyways. If I ever change my habits, the only localizer to see my money would be MangaGamer and perhaps JAST (even though they are arguably too slow, and uninterested).
Swordspirit 26
200k just to TL first two chapters of Supipara that were a failure in Japan That is the important part: It was a failure. I don’t know why Mg thought it was a good idea to use this all age work of minori. Minori don’t care, with the 200k they will go out even from Supipara. I don‘t think there will be any further development. KS is just perfect for Sekai. It's easier to find one otaku paying 1000 USD for a game than 1000 otakus paying 1 USD. To be honest, if they would cater specific fetishes I would support them too.

Now that you mention it, that makes sense, I also find MG's naivety in the matters quite concerning, why the hell did they think Supipara would do well here xD As you said, minori will probably be satisfied anyways, they didn't lose anything and even got a little something in the process. Ah, "specific fetishes" ... May I know what those would happen to be? Sekai has a bad record with doing games that have lots of sexual stuff, they are not into that market unlike MG xD ... If anything, I'd like to see way more darkges on KS (though I think KS's rules might forbid such projects xD) ... I'd like to see more dark VNs localized, dark is good xD ... littleshogun 1721
I'm pretty much agree with everyone here in regard of Supipara that it was too ambitious, especially when they just planned to get it from the softcopy sales alone iirc for around two years (ef was just got hardcopy release at March). I had some complain about the story for Chapter 1, but I guess it's better if I didn't say it here. For the funding, I'd remember that back when Mangagamer announced Tokyo Babel (ie Otakon 2015) it's still at around 135,000 so the fund gathering was on the slow side. So I think we just need to wait until 2028 if we want Supipara full version XDDDD. PS - By the way, if you watch minori VNs opening after Supipara it was very obvious that there's a lot of change from the opening only (Hint: It's not the breast size that I want to talk here). Swordspirit 26
A VN I wished for in the MG survey was Musumaker ( https://vndb.org/v1160 ) The paradox in our community is, that the established fan translator condemns Loli while MG went far in this genre. So, I hope that Mg will go one day for Musumaker, but I would be fine with an ammolite title a year. On the other hand, I support a project for Succubus Prison, the H-Content is to die for... On MG, I bought Kara no Shoujo one and two you can’t just always pirate the story heavy titles and KnS 1 is a masterpiece for me.
TakiMinase 148
So I think we just need to wait until 2028 if we want Supipara full version XDDDD. Talk about optimistic ... But still ... That's faster than JAST will bring us over Sumaga, Muramasa, Django ... XDDDDDDDD PS - By the way, if you watch minori VNs opening after Supipara it was very obvious that there's a lot of change from the opening only (Hint: It's not the breast size that I want to talk here). I can only imagine what you are talking about (And I was almost thinking you were talking about breast size ... but only almost! XD) A VN I wished for in the MG survey was Musumaker ( https://vndb.org/v1160 ) First time I am seeing that VN ... But I know one guy on this forum who would love the fuck out of that VN ... Hey charlbeef, you reading this? This VN has two of your favourite tags: Lolis and prostitue heroine! The paradox in our community is, that the established fan translator condemns Loli while MG went far in this genre. So, I hope that Mg will go one day for Musumaker, but I would be fine with an ammolite title a year. Ah, a lolicon VN fan ... Yes, MG might pull out an amollite title a year but only if they manage to sell it enough ... Speaking of it, Maitetsu will come in 18+ variant, so you might like that one, Sekai promised that they will deliver it, let's wait and see xD ... On the other hand, I support a project for Succubus Prison, the H-Content is to die for... *Checking Succubus Prison* ... Hmmm, not bad at all, looks like a decent H-RPG xD ... littleshogun 1721
I'm understand if you thought the breast as the major change here. The answer here is actually the animation for the opening. I said this because I did watch all minori opening and all of those was had some 2D drawing and the animation, or at least until they release Supipara in which it was the last opening that they use the animation. Post Supipara, they started to almost eliminated the animation and started to use the static image just like any usual VN opening. It's understandable though considering that they probably had a hard time to recover after Supipara. PS - Oh, and for the update here earlier we had Tsujidou was at 37.06% translated with Ai's route at 58.66% translated.
Blade 100
Tokyo Dark Release date September 7th, here is the announcement trailer
littleshogun 1721
So we already had Otakon announcement from Mangagamer and well, ....it's not as good as last year if I may be honest here. As for the OELVN announcements along with one HRPG announcement, let's just said that for now I wouldn't interested in those but then again it may change in the future. As for Supipara, I thought it was at 350 at first lol then turn out that they just need 150 to develop it. Of course that's still a lot though but at least it's pretty much normal Kickstarter goal lol at (ie something like Grisaia, Root Double, and Libra) albeit a bit too much. My concern is that I wonder if they gonna switch the mode considering that the sales was not too good for them, and looking at how 'fast' they got the goal safe to said that I won't expect Chapter 3 until at least 2021. Sengoku, well I was about to laugh when I did saw the announcement considering that we already had it translated back at 2009. Granted it was contain one major error from what I knew, but it's not like that most people care about that anyway especially if we talk about the people who read that in English. What's more, I think people pretty much already discussed it to the death and pretty much already develop the strategy to finishing the game (And do hard mode as well). In short, I would say that this is a very redundant announcement although I knew that there's some people who want this though. Oh, and by the way Arunaru was the one who responsible for this. I knew that it's up to him to do whatever he want now that Evenicle was finished, but still I prefer him to 'waste his time' on something like IX instead of Sengoku. As for the rest, I think the better announcement to me here would be Magnum and Michael considering that those two was pretty much the culmination of their previous VNs. For Magnum, it was Sengoku's sequel and focused more on Rance finished his quest while solving some story for the side characters, which is a lot considering that Rance was already around for more than 20 years. As for Michael, of course I mean Sono Hanabira in which it was tell us the yuri and Michael was the 11th VNs that cover a new couple for the most part, and it was also tell us more of the previous five couples which span across 10 VNs. Oh, and I think Mangagamer will use the new script for Michael considering that one Tweet said this is Mangagamer first secret project, although I would still wait for their word though. That's all for my comment, and overall compared to last year and AX it was quite a letdown here considering that I'd quite look forward to this. Oh, and I didn't care about their BL VN here. Indeed, we have a very similiar opinion on the matters here. I think last year at Otakon we also had Rance games announcements (V and VI) but then other titles were also interesting like Sona Nyl, Hapymaher, etc. This year instead, it was more oriented towards failed projects like Supipara, yaoi and yuri VNs and some mediocre OELVNs (all 3 of them that they announced sound boring). So essentially, we got only Rance Quest as the only serious announcement. Sengoku Rance already has a fanTL and despite what Arunaru said about the quality of its TL, I didn't see anybody complaining that much so I don't quite frankly care, but if he is willing to retranslate, then I wish him good luck. The only other title that I am interested in would be that dungeon crawler by Lunesoft, and that's about it for MG for this year, as far as announcements go. I think AX's Evenicle and DameKoi as well as Magical Marriage Lunatics were also a set of better announcements than this year's Otakon.
Swordspirit 26
My concern is that I wonder if they gonna switch the mode considering that the sales was not too good for them What do you mean by this? This is a first for me, but there is not one "must have" in this announcement. I don't play Yaoi, Yuri or Otome, so almost half of the announcements are gone for me. For the rest: Supipara: You know my opinion on this vn. The only chance I see is to add h-content. Maybe then they will get another chance in Japan with this one. Kachuna: So, they go with a megalomaniacal nerd...Dodgy subject I would say. It is something new, but I don’t find this very appealing. I wait and see what others say about this one. Spirit Master: I got my fair share of RPG in the last time (Thanks Paradox...) I got high expectations for a RPG and I don’t think that this one will be on the same level as something from Eushully. It’s not a good sign if they have nudity on their cover. So, I think I will pass. Last, we got the cancer: In my opinion Rance is the most overrated series in our community. I don’t know why people like this, I tried hard to see the good points, but Rance is just unfunny comedy rape with bad filler around it. The sad thing is, we could get something like this: https://vndb.org/v10732 However, I know that most of us think this series is "good" so I ‘am happy for you, have fun with this... I ‘am really disappointed, no Horror/Mystery/Suspense titles this year. Another Innocent Grey title would be perfect, but unrealistic. I was expecting a darker game from Moonstone (Dreamers) but that there is not a single announcement is just sad. So better luck next time I guess?
littleshogun 1721
As for switching mode, it was in regard of switching the method for the funding of Supipara. minori did use only the sales of their VN in English to fund Supipara, which to said was quite slow and need three years (From 2014 iirc) to just fund the localization of Chapter 2. What I tried to say is that I wonder if they gonna to just change the mode with something like KS or IGG, considering that it was more effective if one need to gather the funds quickly. By the way, I was wrong that back at 2015 minori was gathered 135,000. The truth is that back then minori was gathered around 100,000 which at least it made that the funding was more successful than I thought, although it's still need two years though to complete it (From 2015). Oh, and I would still estimated that Chapter 3 would be out at 2021 for now. By the way, there's no announcement from Sekai other than Fata Morgana manga. But at least we got news that Saku Saku will be released at 25th later, so it's good. PS - May I request Saku Saku to be uploaded later here? Thanks in advance.
