Nope, you are underestimating them Kai. What's going on here is that SP found a solution how to battle many problems at once. First of all, since they are understaffed (or they make it seem so considering how long we wait for adult versions and other stuff to come out) they are using the situation in their favour by making their backers shoulder the beta-testing for some of their VNs (in this case Hoshizora no Memoria - probably a test case for them to see how it goes).

Another aspect of this is also the piracy problem. You see, it's widely known that we often get some VNs on their release date or very soon after their release date. In fact, what they are doing here is pretty smart in my opinion. They are counting on that VN piracy problem, where updated versions or patches for VNs come significantly later than their original pirate releases. In fact, some of the people would be counting on one of the backers to share his copy of Hoshizora no Memoria (which is un-beta tested, unprepared release for the wide consumption) and they are counting on that release to be the only pirate version available for some time, if in fact one of the backers share it. By doing that, on the original release date of Hoshizora no Memoria, we might not see that release for some time, unless the scene groups like DARKSiDERS decide to pick it up, or somebody else shares it (but if we take a look at how it usually goes, we usually wait for some time for these updates to come out).

So don't underestimate SP, they know what they are doing. Perhaps it isn't anything specially smart, we'll see the results of this move by them in a couple of months. But if my guess is right, they are pretty smart in this case.

I don't think that will solve their piracy problem though , sure, you might annoy some pirates by giving them a unedited broken version but most of them won't go out of their way to buy the "fixed" version.

All they are achieving here is frustrating a little bit the pirates. Also they sales must be incredible low, since we still don't have the uncensored patch of Chrono Clock.

I never said it would fix their piracy problem :D But it's more of an annoyance if anything else. They MIGHT force 1% of pirates to buy the game though. Which I guess is all they were aiming for originally, LOL :D

As for the sales, yeah, they probably bombed with most of their releases (well, they would have, if they hadn't been abusing kickstarters so much). I heard Wagahigh was pretty expensive as a licence and from what I have heard it seems they bombed pretty heavily on that one so ...

I know their reputation can't go any lower with the vn community in general, but releasing broken games all the time will damage their reputation with the steam crowd in the long run. all of that just to piss off the pirates...whatever, priorities! :D

They don't need to battle piracy. They wanted 45K for the whole thing, they got 85K if I remember correctly. The 45K cover the base costs and everything above this is a profit for them. As I said before, in our community it's easier to find one guy paying 1000 US Dollar as 1000 guys paying 1 Dollar. That's why they use Kickstarter. The next big thing for them is the sale on Steam, there the guys don't pirate as much, and they get another chunk of money for sometimes questionable quality.

After Steam they stop to care. Why bother to create an 18+ Version for some nerds that complain over social media? They know very well, that these people will not buy the product and probably 95% + will pirate the product, so it is just not worth to put any effort in the H-Content.

Exception: The guy plowing big money at the Kickstarter phase in the game, that asks for this content. But yeah, the deal is done so they can take their sweet time.

That’s why I think they don’t care, they got their money way bevor the pirates can do any damage for their business model.

So, Lovely x Cation was dropped last month, and translator moved on to the second one (You still have "Lovely x Cation" in a list, Pasa), huh? Damn, was looking forward to Sera's route :C

Also, seems like no LB H-content for weirdos like me (yeah-yeah, don't get started on how bad Key's H is).

Not a huge tragedy i guess, but kinda dampened the mood after the -post83915/#post83915"]awesome Wild Romance news.

BTW, about HemoImo.

Don't think we are going to see it in the nearest future, at least not with SakuraGame as publisher. Cafe (translator) said nothing about it being pulled from Steam, but tweeted this (pretty brazen, if the deal is still up). You can read about SakuraGame's business "practices" on LewdGamer.

Meanwhile, SakuraGame got their hands on Hikoukigumo no Mukougawa by Flat, it seems (also a bunch of Chinese VNs).

@stkrge, not sure, we only have Steam page to go by at the moment. Could as well be the same case as with New Glass (well, at least i hope, so :p).

On a different note, there've been several updates on OreImo.

Latest: total - 87.3% (234/268), Manami's route (last one) - 34.4% (11/32) done.
