  1. Nah, heard it wasn't that good, only vanilla.

Really? Well I for once enjoy DW way more than vanilla. It's a little bit unbalanced but it's so much fun and the community is amazing. Like there is a map where you can fire a canon (it's stationary and only hits a rock 50m away from it so it's really hard to hit anybody) and once me and 10 other players where just killing each other with that canon. Like trying to jump into the cannonball. Or setting up as a row of human flesh so that 6 players where killed by a single shot. Or there's a map where pillars go from one to the other side of the map and me and other players made a challange to only use those pillars to reach the end of the map (like a "the floor is lava" kind of challenge). Of course no-one was able to do that because even if you didn't fall off you were killed by a random dude who had something against us srewing around and not playing the game haha. I didn't play vanilla since a year.

  2. Lets get a Saya no Uta anime its short enough!

I guess it has just way too much gore to get an anime adaption. I mean that tasty fridge scene alone is most likely enough to scare most people off so the anime wouldn't be very profitable. And hence there will be no anime.

Also how g-senjou no maou isn't an anime yet is beyond me :p

The problem with GSnM is the protagonist because they would need to show him without his face the entire time (like in VN) or else they would ruin one of the major plot twists.

    i didn't finish A profile

It was shit. Or at least it's inferior to SnK and GSnM.

  3. As a general rule VN>>>anime.

Well it really depends what medium you like more. It's obvious that an anime can't give you the same amount of details because it's most likely 12x20min or 20x20min so 240min-400min altogether while a Visual Novel is usually around 30h. So theoretically you would need 90-100 episodes for a real adaption BUT that would also mean to put all the inner monologues into the anime and that's just not going to work because an anime uses animations to make the story alive and not words like a VN does. On the other hand, for an anime it's easier to make fights alive while VNs need to use words and sometimes a very detailed description of a battle can destroy it.

The anime adaptions Kyoto Animation made (Clannad, Air, Kanon) are pretty good in my opinion and I also enjoyed the first season of ef (the second season of ef not so much because they changed the story quite a bit and even left out one of the most emotional scenes of the VN because as we all know japanese people don't like sad anime). Of course I liked the Visual Novel more BUT I also enjoyed the anime...but as a different medium. Not sure if that made sense.

tltr: Even after years I still don't see the sense in comparing VNs with anime adaptions since they are two different mediums with two different ways to tell a story.

  4. I'd also just discovered the forum and I was really stunned of how you guys are nice and helpful

    Welcome to the forum.

I'd be really grateful if someone recommended me some titles set in a high school environment

Sounds like Da Capo II would be your kind of game. Although I'm not really the right person to give any recommendations because usually I dislike visual novels with a school setting but feel free to look through my vndb list.

  5. At times it kinda made me wonder why more people don't talk about it... a bit of a hidden gem I'd say.

I did bring the title up in a couple of threads but since nobody knows Swan Song I was never able to start a real discussion. I guess it's mainly because of its cover where a naked girl is lying on the ground that nobody wants to play it, and I can't blame them. They could have used a better cover for a serious visual novel like that imo.

Edit: The ED song of the true route is in German btw

  6. modern art style + translated into english + comedy or lighter hearted

These two titles seem to fit your taste the best...

Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteiru - https://vndb.org/v5240

    Osananajimi wa Daitouryou - https://vndb.org/v2622

But maybe you want to check out these titles as well...

Overdrive titles - https://vndb.org/p240 (although I'm not sure if those titles count as modern art style but all of them are comedy + light hearted)

Katahane - https://vndb.org/v22 (light hearted all the way, there's some yuri though)

Kotori Love Ex P - https://vndb.org/v3537 (not sure if this was included in your "all of the Da Capo series" statement but go for it if you like Kotori)

  7. I still need to finish reading Da Capo.. completely forgot about it after my laptop died and took the save file with it.

I highly doubt you have to read DC to understand DC III ... maybe it's even better to not read it because I fear they'll use the same routes again but with other characters (like they did in DC II).
