OneManArmy 82
I always use winsnap for taking screenshots and didn't have any problems with Canvas or other games until now.
Outpost Omega J 45
A basic crude method that should work for anything as long as you are using a windows computer. If there is a Mac equivalent, I don't know about it. Push "Print Screen" (my keyboard has it to the right of "F12"). This should "copy" the current display. Next, open up "Paint" or the art software of your choice and "paste" the image. File --> Save. Done.

I honestly don't know what's the cause of your problem because I usually play visual novels in windowed mode but it's most likely a wrong setting. I'm not sure if it'll help you but here's a little guide which will show how to take screenshots without having to edit them afterwards (like when using the print key). 1. Be sure to disable all those annoying special effects like shadow and reflection. Also, choose "object" below the "take screenshot button" because this will force the program to only take a screenshot of the game's window's inside which means that you don't have to cut away the rest. AND please deactivate the "include mouse cursor" option because of obvious reasons. http://imageshack.us/a/img341/245/22092047.jpg 2. Press F12 and disable the option I framed so that winsnap will behave like a normal program. http://imageshack.us/a/img685/2042/28520357.jpg 3. And if you're using the options above then you just have to click on "take screenshot" and on the visual novel and bamm, it's done. http://imageshack.us/a/img839/9224/testct.jpg
