Well Steam is seeing daily indie releases from attempts at VN games with varied success though some larger studios appear to now be using it as well for their all-ages content. (Or forcing all-ages on content that probably might not be entirely suitable to such conversions...heh.) EDIT: Seems Ouroboros is also set to be released in a few days from Mangagamer, using what looks like fairly standard RPG Maker assets and custom CG's from something resembling MS Paint.
