Well I imagine making a vn could be very boring, so after surviving a week off of red bull and a lot of never ending "putting text on a screen" im sure they might make a few major mistakes. Who knows for all I could guess one of the programmers might have just used a keyboard as a pillow during work hours. Of course im just imagining, im sure the reason for why there doing this is something much more stupid. Finally to answer your question, yes I think people are capable of being that moronic.

Sigh... Minecraft... takes me back to 2nd grade. I remember that game, I've only played once or twice but I can always remember the 6 year old's that obsessed over it; nowadays fortnite is what they those same exact kids obsess over, ugh... history repeats itself. But anyway the idea in and of itself isn't bad; but as noted I don't think the people on this site would play that kind of game.

While you can make decisions in interactive novels and that technicality counts as game play, you could simply call that "game play" an interactive e-book as you said. Some VNs have actual game play but if it plays like a normal game then it really isn't a visual novel any more its a video game. I consider both interactive and non interactive VNs neither books nor games because they aren't on or the other; they are there own separate genre of entertainment.
