I prefer a crappy translated h-scene over no scene at all. In the end the art and music are more important and as long as you can recognize what's moaning, "Hazukashii~~~" and "I'm cumming for the fifth time!!!" is, there shouldn't be severe problems. And it's too early to say something about quality, because as of today we have just an announcement, nothing more. It's still very possible that we'll never see anything at all from them.

I agree that a proper retranslation is almost impossible, but if they manage the following we would have already got an improvement - uncensored CGs (easy, just replace them) - restored H-scenes with a machine translation (medium, lots of data needed, not perfect but well...) - kissing animations (no idea how complicated that would be, they would have to mess with the scripts and engine, or copy it from the japanese version) We'll see, but at least the motivation earns admiration.

And now comes the kicker: Moenovel's Japanese lineup All of them 18+, romance oriented and full of sexual themes. In other words: completely unfit for mainstream western releases. That propably won't stop them, though. I fear that there are a lot of idiots willing to buy it, either because they don't know or don't care about the heavy censorship. We must be strong now and fight together against those art defilers.

I actually have a big question. Does anybody know the circumstances of the Cross Channel retranslation? - How (exactly) is it different from the Ameterasu TL? Do they remove the honorifics and add english slang?^^ - Why does the project exist, if we already have a translation? I know the homepage of the project (See you next week |), but it's just unfunny ramblings and cryptic bs (no usefull answers).

Is the thread now about our funniest beginner mistakes? Here's mine: When I started with VNs I always burned the iso to disks, because I feared that virtual drives are made by criminal hackers trying to hijack my system.

There are a lot of potential problems with VNs, but how to save is not one of them. If you have been using a personal computer for longer than a week, it's hard to understand how you can fail with that. A little tongue-in-cheek answer from Gerard is totally in the limit. But the OP is not alone, my favourite noob-fail is: "How do I play, it's just a rar-file and it won't start."

I don't think All Ages is a problem in itself for the fanbase. Clannad's and Steins;Gate's ratings on vndb speak for themselves. But censorship really freaks the fans out (as we could see in the threads). At least All Ages titles can't have removed H-Scenes...

You simply want destroy the whole idea behind piracy? (get stuff for FREE). It's really not asked too much to wait some time to down the games here. You can't read them as fast anyway. And One-Click-Hoster are completely safe, Torrents always have some kind of uncertainty with them. Pop-Ups can be avoided with the "NoScript" Extension for Firefox. Note the wording, they openly admit that it's "censored", a word with a very negative connotation. EA would have written: "Dear customers, there seem to be some misunderstandings. We apologize for not being clear enough. We are happy to bring you the localized and improved English version, which was especially handcrafted for the English-speaking audience. Whoa, I only saw "remove h-scenes" and nearly shat my pants, but they mean to make an additional patch, for those not wanting h. That's OK, they are inclusive towards the 7 fans that refuse to read 18+ content.

That's not the same. Those games were released without ero right from the start (LB got a ero re-release later though). In this case the 18+ content was there, but has been cut out. That's like a censored horror movie compared to a family comedy-flick. The latter might work without the splatter, the former does not^^ It saddens me to write this, but with this censorship-happy-aproach I hope they leave the market sooner than later. (Or if there's a possibility to repair the cut content: welcome to the english speaking market!!^^)
