I voted for younger sister, 'cause I don't have a problem with Incest in games/Anime/Manga, and because I'm a boy who likes girls.
-
Like Saruda said, learn Hiragana and Katakana really early.
At most, I'd say it takes you about 4 days to somewhat have them in your head.
These signs show up the most in Japanese language (well, Hiragana that is) and the earlier you can seriously read them, the better.
A method I find very useful, is the one of Heisig's "Remember the Kanji".
It helps you remember the Kanji, by making little stories for with each part of a Kanji.
It only helps you at knowing the english meaning of a word though, but you can practice the Japanese readings, getting untranslated stuff, like eroge (where you can listen how they pronounce the Kanji)
or Manga, where most often the Hiragana are written above the Kanji.
It works pretty good for me, but it might not for everyone.

Yea my bad kind of drop the ball on that on.(sorry)
But if you played the game for even 5 mins you know it's going to happen and that is not even half of her route
Yeah, not too big of a deal, though that is not really what bothers me.
Wanted to find out wether they are related or not by myself.
Although I don't exactly know what you mean with "half - related" anyway (and I hope you won't tell me now )
-
younger sister.... I like hearing Onii Chan....... I normally don't like cute stuff but some VN have the younger sister set-up on lock
But only if they are not blood related......... Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish upon a Shooting Star-.......HAAAAAAAAAAAA!
.... Half related.......still just as wrong (But she was cute)
Please just use anything, to kinda warn people that you spoil -__-

He's looking for depressing anime, Kimi no Todoke, Onegai Teacher and Twins are damn happy :>
I thought Onegai Teacher and Twins had some depressing moments as well
-
Stuff you could try is:
Kanon (made by the same people as Clannad, I think)
H20 : Footprints in the sand
Kimi ni Todoke (not really sad or depressing, but still a very good romance Anime)
Onegai Teacher (God, I love this one. I think I watched it about 15 times already)
Onegai Twins
sora (I didn't really like this one, but it might be something for you)
True Tears
By the way, I'm also watching Kimi ga Nozomu Eien at the moment.
Am at episode 12, and yeah, it is a really great Anime

How was that VN btw? I've heard very mixed reviews.. not sure if I should check it out.
You should always just try it yourself.
It is not even like you'd have to pay for it.
And yeah, I've been wondering..
We have a Chinami Hate Thread, yet no one mentioned her here?

Lol... Yoakemae Yori Ruriiro Na is 100% translated but keeps progressing by only 1% a week editing wise. Looking forward to Grisaia no Kajitsu.
It is a single person after all, so I can understand.
And yeah, just figured out, that that screenshot I had since some time and liked a lot was from "Yoakemae Yori Ruriiro Na", so I'm looking forward to it.
-
You played through some routes without understanding anythng?
That usually results in me being totally sad, 'cause I desperately want to know what is going on
But yeah, in addition to desi's post..
You never know when someone might translate it.
Take Hoshizora no Memoria for example..
It has been released at the beginning of 2009, and just got finished translating a week ago or so.
And I guess you could always try some translation machines, if you really can't wait to read a Visual Novel.
Here is a Thread for it, in case you are interested: https://erogegames.com/eroge-visual-novels/eroge-tech-support/269-how-play-non-translated-eroges-while-using-translator-guide/

Good news because I don't want to read the same stories over and over again.
Seriously, da capo I & II had a lot of similar story content.
To be honest, I kinda disliked that about Da Capo II as well.
Especially that Miharu and that blue haired girl from the second part shared the same last name and some characteristics.
I loved Miharu , but the other one (forgot her name) was so incredibly annoying and hateable..
But well, I kinda wonder why they have Nemu and Sakura on the Da Capo III page, if they are not going to be in the Visual Novel
And oh, I saw that just now, but it doesn't seem to be Nemu and Sakura, but different characters that just so happen to look almost to exactly the same..
-
Hmm, i don't get tired of her, on the contrary, and i really like her voice too. Maybe i'm strange..
Chinami love ftw.
I like her too
-
Ah, right.
It was Taiyaki.
And well, he probably could.
I can't find the original site of the translation anymore, but he said something like: "When I involved other people in the project, they always wanted to change too much, changing the true meaning of the original sentence."
But well, I'd still prefer to read normal english than weird english.
I don't see translations as a 100% perfect english version anyway.

It could be that someone with no knowledge of Japanese used a machine translation on the whole thing, then went back and made most of it grammatically accurate.
That would be a passable approach, although obviously an intimate knowledge of Japanese helps vastly to ensure you're getting the right idea across.
That would indeed be a good way, to make a Visual Novel available for people who badly want to play it, but I searched a bit around about the Flyable Heart translation, and it seems he tried to keep the english translation as literal and close to the japanese original as possible.
I never tried the english patch because of that, so I can't say for sure, but I saw some people making screenshots, how that fish shaped bread (forgot the name right now), was translated to "fish - shaped bread, filled with bean paste" or something like that.
-
@ Maxar i was reading the Manga, but then i realized there was a VN for Fortune. I dropped it immediately hoping i could finish the VN instead lol
I havent played Da Capo yet O_o any good?
I personally just love the atmosphere of both games, and both had at least one character, which was just totally adorable, so yeah.
One of my favourite Visual Novel series, to be honest.
-
To be honest, there isn't really any eroge I seriously can't wait anymore for.
But yeah, the closest to that would be Fortune Arterial as well.
I remember watching the anime several months ago, (and dropping it, but not like it matters) and I liked some characters a lot, so I'd just love to try it out.
Oh, and Da Capo III of course, if that counts.
-
I own an acoustic guitar, but I don't play it.
I blame my fingers for not being able to play the accords properly -__-
But yeah, I'm more into Synthesizers and stuff like that, for creating music.
-
I finished "My girlfriend is the president" just now (and with that I mean, I finished Ell's route).
I still remember when I started it about four weeks ago.
It was so enjoyable, that I read it like 6 hours straight.
But yeah, in the end it was still good, but nothing I seriously loved.
I guess you shouldn't take this as a serious romance Visual Novel, since due to all the comedy,
the romance and sad parts didn't had quite that much of an impact on me.
There were still some things though, that were so cute, that I got some teary eyes.
-
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Fugly and Monet mean in some way both "ugly"?
And yeah, seriously..
I can't answer that question.
Seeing an ugly person getting raped or whatever, is just as disturbing in my opinion, as seeing someone beautiful getting raped.
I just can't stand it, and that is why I try to stay away from such stuff as much as possible.

Always makes me happy to see that there is progress in the Visual Novel translating
And great that Amaterasu is so fast at translating Rewrite.
Already got the game, so I'm looking forward to actually playing it.
Let's just hope, that they make a proper translation and not rush and make a lot of mistakes.
-
And there are some guys who want to make an own visual novel, just sayin.
Yume Creations: Die erste „professionelle“ deutsche Visual Novel
Thanks for that.
Directly asked if I can help
-
I always thought about translating a Visual Novel.
Though I'm not capable of reading Japanese yet, but hey, around 500 Kanji and basic grammar rules and a pretty weak vocabulary are already with me
I still have a long way to go, but in about one or two years, I think I'll be good enough to read Visual Novels on my own.
If I then find myself to be good enough for translating, I'll try to start a translation of Mashiro Iro Symphony.
But yeah, like mentioned above, I have no idea how hard translating actually is, either, and I don't know if I can actually do it.
Nor do I even know how I can even replace the text in a game, and make patch files..
And yeah, about making my own Visual Novel..
One thing I can do is compose music.
Yeah..
That's it..
Whatever I draw, it looks like crap, and that really ruins a Visual Novel.
I've only written a story once, and, well..
I wouldn't rate it above average.
I wouldn't say it was bad though either, but it really wasn't anything that would stay in your mind.
And is it just me, or are the german people gathering in this thread?
-
I tend to do everything alone most of the time.
I only resort to Walktroughs, if I'm totally stuck at a part, (That only happened one time though)
when I have to read through character routes I'm not interested in, but have to read through,
in order to unlock the one I want, or if I just can't wait to find out myself if a certain character has a route,
I'll look for a walkthrough and see which characters have routes written for them-.
-
And then you are halfway or however far the patch is through the story, and BAM..
You have to wait another year.
I'd personally just wait till it's done.
You'll most likely find enough decent stuff to read until the patch is ready.
