I try to avoid nukige, tentacles and rape visual novels because they mostly haven't a great story.
I also voted for ntr because they are a big pain in the ass; too lazy to explain.
play it sometime anyway since it's made by akabei soft2Sir, believe me, that's the wrong way of thinking. I made the same mistake so don't expect too much from a profile.
You may like it but the chances for disliking it are probably higher.

TAYUTAMA!!!
Why the hell isn't there a translation project for this? Well probably because of the fucked up anime. Anyway, I played the game with the
agth+atlas combo one year ago and it was sadly a big pain in the ass so I stopped playing the game. The bad thing, I felt in love with the
main heroine called mashiro; she's my waifu so don't touch her you bastards. Well the game itself hadn't an awesome story but the art,
bgm and chars were great so someone better translate this game soon. Otherwise...I'll a sad panda.

Did I learn something from playing visual novels for 4 years? To be honest, I don't think so.
The only thing that changed is me becoming a sucker for classical music. Ah and I also felt in love with mashiro.
But well, all in all I'm still the same person.

I only play the routes which I'm interested in. If I can't stand the heroine then I won't play her route.
I don't see the sense in reading stuff I don't like just for getting 100%.
Call it blasphemy but even if I only played one route the game is still finished for me.

Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru and Eroge are going to be translated by Mangagamer.
Also, thumbs up for this thread.

Everything awesome I guess...

I prefer the shy, kind and calm heroines, well at least I usually end up liking them the most.
Of course there are also exceptions. Loli isn't my cup of tea though, I always found them too childish.
Ah and I fuckin hate big boobs, gimme a or b, c is also fine but d is just too large.
-
Hard to say. I believe it's all about the story but on the other hand it's also important that the art and bgm fits the whole thing.
I would say the most important thing is the overall experience. Even if a visual novel doesn't have an awesome story it still
can be enjoyable because of having a nice soundtrack and cg's.
Why isn't there a 'other' option in the poll anyway?

I believe that we should wait a little bit with creating a staff. At first we've to see how things are working out.
After some time it's obviously also way easier to realize which people are reliable etc.
I wouldn't rush things.
Ivan told us he'd choose several people, and let the rest of the members vote on them. Or maybe he'll change his mind and chooses mods himself. Eitherway, Ivan has the power. Both of the quotes together = my opinion.

I'm way too lazy to read through all the previous comments and so I will just post my answer.
Elfenlied - because it was dark, different and somehow touching

Various OSTs.
This. Currently 11eyes.

I was playing Wanko to Korasou and I was in a H scene
Don't make it sound like there were other scenes besides the h ones.
-
I'm actually playing three visual novel at the same time because sometimes one of them becomes annoying.
This doesn't mean they are bad but I need some variety to enjoy them.
1. Suika - will probably finish it today
2. Kathane - still at angelina's route
3. Higurashi - only finished the first chapter
-
In my case it always depends on the current situation.
If I'm reading a sex scene then I minimize the game of course; playing in windowed mod ftw. \o/
If there's just normal stuff then I don't do anything because of obvious reasons.
With this said, I normally play visual novels at the evening so nobody will come in my room anyway.

I have my main machine on default locale and my laptop (where I play all my eroges... at night... in bed...) has japanese locale. All it really does is changes \ to ¥ but also lets you play eroge. Not much of a big deal.
What the fuck man? Are we actually the same person? oO'>

Honestly? I don't want anime based on visual novels because they usually suck.
I mean how the hell can you turn a 30h game into a 12ep/4h anime without losing story and quality?
The only good thing is that they are able to make more people interested in visual novels; if they are at least decent that is.
And family project was boring shit, not totally bad but still a pain in the ass to read.

山田 Yamada (mountain field) 亜門 Amon (asian gates)
Very nice
This sounds like a sightseeing tour.
-
松尾 Matsuo (tail of a pine tree) 美晴 Miharu (beautiful clear sky)
Well it makes sense but I expected something more awesome.
Am I not good enough for this game? *sob*

Awawawawa, am I the only one who does not have a favourite vn company?
-
If the story's good, then I'll play it.
I personally prefer darker stories. This 08/15 love theme can be sometimes damn annoying.

Here you are : click.
Maybe someone, preferable the author, should create a list in the first entry to keep things organized.

There's no blasphemy when it comes to visual novels anyway.
As for the rest, each their own.

mangagamer VS jast usa

First of all, do you know periods? It's a serious pain for the eyes to read your text.
As for the topic, I don't prefer one of them. At the beginning the mangagamer translations were horrible though; let's remember edelweiss.
But now they are decent-good and so I don't have any problems with mg. Jast? Sure they just buying nearly finished fan translations
but where's the problem? Like you said, the groups would translate the games anyway and so they get some money for their work. All in all
both, jast and mg, do something for making visual novels more common and that's always a good thing.
Edit : Thx for using periods.
