  1. Well I'll be the first and give a few of my recommendations

Your list-I can only comment on two at the moment:

Steins;Gate (JAST)-Well actually I haven't read the most recent version so I can only really comment on one but the novel itself is pretty good I think. It is a solid sci-fi/mystery/adventure plot but it has some cool twists along the way. Music is pretty good and artwork is actually really unique and cool too.

Do You Like Horny Bunnies?-It isn't bad but not great. It is kind of similar to Sagara family, at least I thought so, but the plot was less interesting. Although I wasn't playing either one for the plot so you should have no problems. hehe

Not sure which ones you have already gone through so here are just a bunch I read through that you might like judging by your list:

    A few all ages recommendations:

    Clannad

    Ever 17

    Higurashi

    Umineko

    Rewrite

A few not all ages recommendations:

EF-A fairy tale of the two

    Katawa Shoujo

    Hitomi

    Imouto Ijime

    Monster Girl Quest 1-3

    Sagara Family

    X-Change 1-3 and Alternative

  2. Hey guys, this is just a shameless plug for my new blog that I created. The content is limited at the moment but I am slowly adding more to it as time permits and will try and add some other things besides VNs such as Anime and even some manga depending on how things go. Umineko is what I am reading currently though so there will probably be quite a few posts about that for the forseeable future. If you like it that is cool and if not any feedback would be appreciated as this is all a new learning experience for me at the moment. I'm hoping to expand on this idea in the future and make some other blogs and maybe even a website at some point but that remains in the far off future for now.

Here is the link: The Other Side of Anime

  3. About MGQ 2, does someone happen to have the the quote/screenshot of the moment in which

Do you mean this one from MGQ2?

    Moment Of Realization.png

    Or this one?

    Moment Of Truth.png

Either way I thought that whole last bit was really moving. It was the scene where I realized that I actually cared about the characters and what happened to them despite the games premise. Never saw that coming.

  4. Starting Umineko 6th Game...

I'm 3 behind you at the moment but I'm slowly pressing forward.

    Umineko ep3

just finished the part where younger EVA received her coronation and I honestly didn't see that one coming. Very entertaining though seeing everyone there and the music was top notch as always. The battle between Beatrice and um...*Beatrice* was also pretty epic and came out of nowhere. The black tea thing with Kumasawa back in ep1 finally makes sense now.

  5. So I'm currently reading rewrite and got stuck doing Lucia's route first and I'm starting to wonder what the hell happened and when the story goes back to being bearable.

Up to the actual Lucia route the story has been great, the gags were comical and the lighthearted atmosphere was well executed. Now suddenly we get this global conspiracy messiah key girl bullshit that is extremely poorly executed and just not at all what I'm reading this vn for, old men talking bullshit to each other and all comedy is thrown aside to be dispensed intermittently rather than consistently. So the question is, will it get better, or just get worse, I can bear cheesy comedy just fine but cheesy serious conspiracy is just a flavor of cheese I can do without.

Well the story definitely has a flip about midway through and to answer your question it stays that way through the remainder of the VN. It might grow on you a little more as you read through the second half, though judging from your initial opinion at the halfway point it probably won't so its up to you.

Still reading Umineko everyone by the way.

episode 1 and extremely mild Higurashi

Still reading episode one but Maria is creeping me out with that kihihihi laugh and that CG with the Victorian lady in her eyes made that even worse. Definite parallel between whether a 19th person exists or not and whether it is a curse or not from higurashi which is pretty cool. Once the action really gets going it will be even more epic I think.

  6. I noticed there was a somewhat old thread about least favorite VN genres but I could not find one about favorite genres so here it is. Pretty much as the title says and I guess as far as categories go this thread did a good job I think of hitting the most important ones so I'll use it as a reference for anyone that might be unsure of which genre their tastes fall under https://erogegames.com/social/anime-lobby/970-complete-anime-genre-list-descriptions/, it does say anime though but o well it still works. lol

My personal favorite genre overall would have to be school/slice of life, although Ryukishi is doing a good job of challenging that these days it seems.

  7. This novel was absolutely amazing. I can't believe how much was done with so little. You are an awesome person for recommending this one Harle it was a masterpiece.

This novel hit all of the right emotions for me as I read it. I remember laughing whenever the club was doing some sort of crazy activity. I cried when I found out about the truth of the events in the first arc and when Shion realized that she failed to keep her promise to Satoshi. I was furious and felt exactly how Keiichi felt when Satoko fell apart in class in the third arc and I couldn't do anything to help her. I was confused when I was trying to unravel the mysteries behind the murders in Hinamizawa throughout the entire novel. I was conflicted about the idea of a sacrifice always being needed and how our world relates to that idea. I even felt sympathetic and remorseful towards Takano who could have taken a different path if life had been more kind to her. The writer did an amazing job with this novel and made Hinamizawa a place that I did not ever want to leave. Even with the lack of voice acting and a decent number of cgs the writer still created a world as vibrant and awe inspiring as any of its competitors and in my mind at least, even better in a lot of ways. The music was also equally amazing, especially in Kai, and really set the mood for every event in the novel. It was so good in fact I even downloaded it to my phone so I can listen to it while I'm on the road lol.

I only hope I can read more novels like this one in the future. I hear that Umineko is supposed to be really great so I am going to try that one next. I have purposefully not read anything about it so I don't even know the basic premise of it and I only have opinions of others to go on. If it is anything like Higurashi I already know it is going to be amazing too.

  8. I bought the updated versions of Ys 1 & 2 on Steam. Was cool, but stopped playing fairly early for no particular reason. I can't say I've played any game with a combat system like that before. :S Takes a bit getting used to.

yeah I never encountered something like that before either until I tried them out. OIF was updated with the same engine they used for Origins and I thought it was much cooler especially when fighting bosses. Some of those boss battles were insane hard though. Brought back memories of some other games I played in the past that almost caused my controller to be embedded in the TV. (Battletoads, my greatest defeat)

  9. Never played a Ys game.

    Sue me.

I didn't even know the series existed until recently. I love that feeling when you come across a new game and decide to give it a try without any research and it ends up being great. Those are so few and far between these days. sigh

  10. I did not see this game on the forum so I figured I would add it. Pretty much all discussion is fair game here. Did you like the games or hate them? What did you enjoy or dislike about them? Did you even know they existed!?

Here are the links to all of the music for the first three games and origins since the music is my favorite part of the series:

    Ys: 1 and 2/Chronicles

  11. This is a hypothetical that I was wondering about.

Lets assume that the world is suddenly filled with people who are now willing to give VNs a chance instead of simply embracing some false stereotype. The catch is they will only look at one. If you had to show someone a single VN which one would it be? Just curiosity at work here and it does not necessarily have to be your personal favorite VN.

    Mine would be Katawa Shoujo.
