Before I tally off, I should mention my tastes are a bit left-field. In fact, most will probably only recognize One Piece and Shaman King. Extra points if you know any 3 of the others. If at least one person discovers something new from this list, my work is done.

When I first started learning Japanese, I got addicted to building vocabulary lists. Some topics I chose were common action verbs (I came up with about 600), sensorial adjectives (including colors), abstract adjectives, anatomy, clothing and their specific verbs, household objects, weather, geography, and animals. It's from that process I was able to usefully find out their word for brain is pronounced much like know. It goes without saying, but 2ch is an extremely funny place. Being able to follow some of the discussions might be a worthwhile reason to learn the language.

Dragon Ball arguably did more to globalize anime than any other franchise. The Big 3 followed the trend where Dragon Ball left off. Although there are still more stories to tell in each of the shounen trinity, it is clear they are maturing and are opening new avenues for the next generation of manga. The future may yield a greater variety of richly developed series that old and new anime fans can relate to.

That's not the reason the anime is getting canned. For that, there's always filler to pad the schedule. As of now, Bleach can't hold its ratings. It might be that the story lost its appeal after Aizen was defeated. People have less anticipations to be answered, thus less reasons to follow the story.
