  1. I'm already almost done with Kamidori, love the hell out of that game, but the art style of Rance REALLY makes me hate it... I just can't stand that older art form except with some of the earlier mangagamer games like Pick Me Honey and the like. I have been trying to get into Big Bang Age, but the gamepaly is so damn confusing I can't figure out what to do 5 minutes in... but I get the feeling I'd like it if I understood... Also, does anyone know what's going on with Madou Koukaku and Soukoku no Arterial? Those are two Eushully games I'm actually still waiting for from like 2 years ago...
  2. Oh god, after replaying Koihime this past week, I've rediscovered my love of Aisha, and the two Kakoton/Kakoen sisters... god this game is addicting -_- Are there any other games like this? Long ones with a bajillion heroines that has a semi-decent+ story?
  3. I'm moderately impressed this week. I wasn't here this past week because I was travelling around the US looking for a new school to fund our lab project, so that's why i was gone. We've narrowed it down to a few schools, probably going to be University of Washington in Seattle. But on the topic of new VN stuff, really happy lamune and tasogare are getting attention.
  4. Yeah, definitely props to RetroGoat. He's doing what I wish I could do
  5. Hey guys... so I have some less good news. I'm really happy about RetroGoat and his team getting Shin Koihime Musous up and going (REALLY HAPPY ABOUT THAT!), but we've hit a bit of a roadblock for our team formation... Life has decided to take me elsewhere. I've been working on a lab project with another group of close friends, and we were getting our funding from the college. Fortunately, our project was seeing a lot of success. Like a lot. So much so, that the school couldn't afford to fund it any further, and we hit a dead end. In order to combat that, our team is now being funded by another school (which he have yet to decide on out of a pool of possibilities). What that means though, is that 37 of the team of 51, myself included (I'm the head of the project) are moving to another school starting after summer. I was just told this this morning by the dean. The only other person from the translation team that will be going with me of course, is Zoe, my girlfriend. Granted, she didn't have much to contribute to the team from the starting point outside of moral support and beta testing. I'm really sorry to announce this guys, and I know it's technically on the wrong thread, but this is where it started and I promised to update it from. I tried from the bottom of my heart to make something cool happen, and apparently life just didn't want that to happen. From the sounds of it, the rest of the would-be team is going to try to do something on their own, but given that they've only just gotten halfway through their first practice game, (Oyako Lesson) they still have a long way to go if they want to take this further. Thank you for the support you guys gave me while we tried our hardest. I can't find the words to say how sorry I am for how this turned out. TL;DR: New translation team died due to life.
  6. Maybe I'll give Rance a shot... had been avoiding it due to the artwork up until now...
  7. I heartily welcome TheRetroGoat for the the support of Koihime
  8. Great! Comyu, Grisaia, Chocolate, AND Cocoro! All I need now is some Walkure and *gasp* Majikoi :3 > You guys must be fucking sick of me talking about Majikoi. Too bad. I still F(@)P to it.
  9. And I'm back after a week of not being here. What did I miss?
  10. Is it pronounced 'Comyu" or Cou (like Coup the French word)? I understand the letter "mu", which would make Comyu make sense, but I'm curious.
  11. Maybe it would be better worth someone's time to instead of translating a lot of games, just create one universal ultimate machine translator that just kicks ass. *Wakes up from dream*
  12. Fairly sure it's going to be this year. Unlike a lot of people, I read and watch the stuff put out by the producers, even to the point of keeping up to date with their economics and spending. It's easy to predict what gets funded where if you just watch who pays who, and then you just look at the projects they have in common. For example, the original concept artist for a manga gets hired by an animation company to help work on a single project approximately a year and a half after the manga has been released. Look at how much he's being paid, and see what the size of the team he is working on. Then look at the funding the project has, and you can draw conclusions from there. They can be fairly accurate, if I had to give it a number I'd say usually about 70% so.
  13. SHIN KOIHIME! FINALLY! Anyway, glad Majikoi didn't get taken off the list in hopes of a revival Thank you for helping me keep my hopes up, means a lot But on another note, am desperately waiting for Walkure and Cou... just finished Walkure anime, and although the anime itself wasn't fantastic, I think the game will blow it out of the water. Oh, and glad to hear that Akame ga Kil is getting an anime this year... probably in the summer from what I can tell (It's a manga though, not a game from my knowledge...)
  14. Update from this past week: nothing got done. There was a Multivariable calc test and we all got anally raped by it.
  15. Reminds me of Lamune, or the anime H20: Footprints in the Sand. But somehow I get the feeling it's going to turn out like the anime Electrostatic Woman.... or whatever it was called...
  16. I will make a thread for updates once the team is fully put together and working on its first title. Since until then, we aren't a true translation team. And besides, until that happens there's not much to update. I'm not going to announce every new member that joins the team either, so that hardly counts as news either.
  17. Yes, yes we are. However, keep in mind that we will be doing so and won't select our VNs until mid June.
  18. Oyeah! Lots of good stuff this week :3 Edit: Tits and Buttz are proving to be the most useful members of the team. They've already started practicing with Oyako and recoding it (not officially or anything, mind you, just for practice) and managed to get about 1000 lines with less than 10 lines of error. That's pretty damn good if you ask me. So far our process works like this: -Zoe brings in food -Lunchbox opens the scripts and teaches Tits, Turntable, and me how the game coding is set up, and teaches Tits how to edit the script. -ZZ and Buttz extract the script from the game and do a rough first translation -Turntable edits as Buttz is translating so it gets done immediately after, no waiting. Translation % will always equal editing % so long as both Turntable and EITHER Buttz or ZZ are present -Zoe brings in more food -Tesla re-inputs the script into the game as Turntable finishes editing (about every 1000 lines or so) -Zoe beta tests and reports errors in script to me and Tesla -Tesla and I fix shit -Returns to Zoe for final check (if not good, go back a couple of steps and repeat until no errors) -Every 10% or so we plan to all stop what we're doing and play through that segment of the game for quality control and eat popcorn. -Release patches every 10% of a game, regardless of whether a route is finished, or has 3 lines edited. This helps control work flow since some routes are longer than others. -Go the fuck to sleep. We plan to spend about 3 hours every other day or so doing this starting in mid May, at the latest in mid June. We have decided to start with 3 games and add a 4th mid July if all is going well. For the time being we will NOT be using a website or blog, and when we do we will only release the patches to a select few people in order to have a final beta test. If those 5-10 people give the OK, then it gets released from a link on a blog we will eventually set up (probably in August, which is when we plan to have our first round of 10% patches available for the 3-4 games we're working on). Using this method, we plan to be able to get approximately 2-5% of any one game done per day, depending on the length of the game. With this algorithm, we can finish a game at the earliest in 40-55 days, and at the latest in 50-75 days. However, that's when we're working on 1 game at a time, but we plan to work on 3-4 at once, so multiply those answers by about 2-4 times depending on the lengths of the games, the difficulty of the coding, and the amount of editing required per game. So at the end of the day, any one game will take a minimum of 120 days and a maximum of 220 days. That's approximately 5-7 games per year, if not more. Wish us luck, as we are planning on officially beginning work around June 13th. NOTE: This time frame DOES take into account life and it's problems. We have made allowances for this. These time frames should be FAIRLY accurate, since all of us have about the same schedules. PS - Mr. Pickles hasn't really been showing up and no one has his contact information. He might be off the team for the time being, but we are still recruiting people. PPS - We apparently don't have a team name, and Zoe wants one. Any ideas?
  19. This week makes me feel lukewarm, bittersweet. BW2 is here, but Cou didn't get anything done, but to offset that Walkure got some stuff done. On the other hand, still no Majikoi news, but I/O got finished. I don't know how to feel about this week.
  20. He actually doesn't play that many games apparently, he just happens to have played Oyako because he's got weird fetishes... but that being said nothing at all is going t get done this coming week because everyone in the CSEE major has midterm this coming week. Midterm = no progress. That also being said, Buttz is his girlfriend, so chances are he convinced her to get that name to match his. Finally, I wouldn't consider him that perfect, he can speak a grand total of three words in English: Fuck, You, and Pissoff
  21. Good news everyone, despite you not being able to meet her in person obv, please welcome Buttz to the group! (If you're wondering about her name, she is Tits' GF, and she wanted something to match. She can actually speak English AND Japanese fairly well, and is going to be a translator only.) Her one condition is that she gets to bring her cat to work... PS - Yes, she has a nice butt. Will post once team is fully complete. This coming week we will be deciding on our first practice-translation (somethign already translated fully, so we can look at stuff. We're considering several games by Mangagamer, particularly Come See Me Tonight and Pick Me Honey)
  22. I actually have looked into those and we are considering Flyable Heart, but we have other ideas first. We are first considering trying the spinoff of the Majikoi series that got translated for April Fool's last year as a test run, since it's already done. Oh and we got our first formal request, what would you guys think about us redoing Oyako Lesson? It's translated really badly, we think we can do a better job and it's not too long of a game. Not to mention, Tits has already played it in Japanese apparently 0_o
  23. I have never played Majikoi A, and I refuse to until S is finished. But now that I hear this about the original Majikoi, I might go back and look into that as well 0_o
  24. I knwo Miyako was never finished, but wait a second.... what the hell is Agave? I know in Majikoi S that includes Tatsuko (my second favorite), but what was the Agave in the original?
