It won't affect this site. In fact, there is some new stupid law every other month in the USA. People just ignore them. Honestly, they only care if you download movies/TV shows/American porn via torrents. You're safe with the Japanese porn.

Last October had a similar thing in Japan going on... and as far as I know nothing changed significantly.

It's hilarious to see the US trying to pass such stupid-ass legislations... but hey, we had some fun with SOPA, PIPA, ACTA and whatnot.

I doubt it's going to make a dent.

The whole stop piracy thing will never work so I wouldnt worry about it. I mean sure the technology is only getting better everyday but that works both ways right? Even if they were to try to pin point seeders or anything like that people will just use proxy's or something else to make sure it wont happen. But to be honest I have been a little more cautious after megaupload went down which even if it was a while ago it shows that they can do something. So that is why I keep all my eroge games on dvd's

who wont keep their eroge collection backed up (i keep mine in 2 external hdd)

and as far as the article goes, Its more or rest like a "nagging system"

people will find a workaround to get what they wanted, in this endless game of cat and mouse.

we will see in the future then

plus, i wonder how they will scan the information that is going around the p2p network, the among of information is simply will be too large for them to chew. Let say they want to prevent sharing of song "A" how many torrent activeting that has A going on and what about the simillar name of the other song to A, or even how about a complete renamed of the file name. or a rar file with password protected encryption? etc etc. They gonna need a Skynet for that i am afraid.

random rant: in my contry they seem to busy blocking porno sites than this copyright stuff....

All hail third-world countries like mine, piracy booths on the streets, cops buying pirate movies/games, unlimited piracy content download =D

Fuck yeah *high fives*

I have also heard about the cable company has started to monitor all types of downloads, will that affect anything here, will i be sued for past downloads

Impossible - to "sue" you for past downloads, they would need a log which does not exist. Keep in mind that these laws don't really help ISPs. They want your money and you want good internet connections. ISPs don't want to keep logs of everything since it's a loss, and I can expect many people to abandon ISPs that get overly idiotic with the whole warning system, causing mass migration to other ISPs.

the copyright laws are so peoiple don't download anime, burn to a blank dvd then sell them(i do that anyway XD) or try to pass a ero game or anime as thier own. by law this site is illegal but also isn't. its like counting cards. its not illegal but if security finds out about it they will throw u out.

It may not exist but it could be created. But yeah, if they're starting to fuck with us too much then they would loose a high amount of customers so it's not gonna happen in the big style.

Pretty much this. Shirogane, it's pretty much highly unlikely that they could start nagging you for stuff you got earlier. Besides, from what I've seen around the internets, the main targets seem to be highly popular or licensed stuff. In other words, recent movies or TV series, and animu that has been licensed on the region.

I seriously doubt they would care about eroge - since their sellers mainly aim at their local market, some even blocking foreign IPs from sites. As for MG/JAST, who knows...
