Moar Rance, MOAR, LOL :D

Milk that cash cow properly MG!!!

this does not come as a surprise since alicesoft is very popular. mangagmer isn't even worried with the possibility of their sales being cannibalized by two consecutive releases...I don't remember when was the last time they released 2 games with only 2 weeks in between.

I didn't say it was a surprise. Actually, I was surprised by Rance X getting announced so soon. But overall, about Rance announcements, no, I wasn't surprised :D Btw, they announced 4 titles instead of 3... they got Rance X in the last minute (the CEO of Alicesoft came to the AX and they sealed the deal).

Rance IX - Nearly finished translation

this is kinda surprising though...translation almost finished, it is like they want to get these games out as soon as possible but once it reaches 100% they sit on the game for another half a year doing nothing. I know this isn't a normal vn and it needs a little bit more testing to make sure it is not broken since it has a lot of gameplay but half a year is too much. evenicle finished translations back in december and it was released only this month.

Be satisfied because if it were JAST or SP, it'd would have come out even later (with SP even worse - coming late + having tons of bugs and issues). MG is only strategizing here and releasing each Alicesoft title one at a time (I am betting Sengoku Rance - December release). It's to keep the momentum going while the hype is still strong. They plan to keep it up like this till 2020 or 2021 when they finish Rance X. If they were to release everything in too close space of each other, then they'd canibalize their own sales and make people too tired of Rance too quick.

I'm satisfied...just thinking what could have happened if Sekai got it instead is scary. At least I know we will get a working game without awkward english and bugs.

Mangagamer did well on anime expo, dunno why people are bitching. I'm not too excited for the yuri vn and I don't care about the BL one but rance IX and X are big announcements.

Since Sengoku Rance was heavily pirated and translated since age, I believe they will do the same deal than with 5D and VI. Sell it together with Rance VIII for 40-50$. That way, the game will still sell well (while a stand alone release would be crippled) and they can justify a bigger price tag for Rance VIII.

My bet is also on december, for a bundle Sengoku + Rance VIII for 45$.

no way that's happening with or without fan patch... rance 5d was sold together with rance VI because it was pretty old and fairly short (2-10 hours)

Both sengoku rance and rance quest are 50h

Who will buy Sengoku Rance, except some people who want to support the serie and people who don't know the game already (low amount of people)? Selling Sengoku Rance alone is asking for a disappointing result.

They may try, but I really think that just increasing the price tag of a bundle (5D + 6 was 35$, sengoku + 8 can be 45-50) would be a really smart way to sell sengoku to people who wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

But we will see.

I am not sure, but I like the sound of it :D Keyen's hypothesis isn't too far-fetched... But yeah, what Kai says is true too. Selling two big titles for a price of one, with or without the fanpatch already existing, doesn't sound like a realistic thing to me either. But I like the sound of it. I can definitely see where Keyen is coming from. Still, I know MG totally ditched the fanTL and retranslated it from scratch so I dunno... we'll see, but I think I am more with Kai on this.

Who's doing Love Cube? There's no info (yet?) on VNDB, and i can't seem to find any recent news about it on the net.

On a different note, i stumbled upon this - says sprite is not doing well (as in indefinitely terminating production of Aokana Extra 2 and Zwei, with a bankruptcy looming over), but there is a slight possibility of English release of Aokana (maybe?).

Rumour has it that Nekonyan got Aokana license (one of the "two big titles" presumably). Another rumour says SakuraGame got it. What do I believe in? I think sprite might self-publish it and ask for some money on Kickstarter. So only God knows, but yeah, we may be getting an English Aokana. Only the quality of the translation is at stake.

About SakuraGame, the only thing that worries me at this point is, whether their releases prevent any other companies from localizing VNs in question (well, probably not). Other then that, i'd just ignore them, as they churn out english machine translations as byproduct of Chinese localization.

As for sprite, i have a wicked urge to gloat over their Aokana mobage - it seems it totally failed to secure a profit for them, and nothing good came out of it, save for some nice HCGs (cause they were done by original Aokana artist Suzumori). Wonder if Eushully's Himegari Imperial Meister fares better, heh...

That's the main problem Hybrid... once they pick up the license, they ruin the chance of a proper localization for the said title. That's why I was pissed so much about SakuraGame grabbing Fortissimo. In other words, they don't just churn out a machine TL... they also ruin a chance for the proper localization of the said title.

Ah, i was thinking about Cherry Kiss getting hands on Kemonomimi Vacation after it got a release, but that was self-published, so not exactly the same case. Still, it most likely depends on what kind of deal SakuraGame got - for all we know, it could be a non-exclusive right.

Companies need to realise that Fate had a very particular set of attributes that allowed it to succeed and stop trying to get a second wind.

Idol ones aside (that's a whole different attribute in itself, haha), i can only recall Granblue being rather successful (i bet the fact it's always linked to Final Fantasy played a big part), not much else. Well, there are probably a few other successful ones around.

I see Walks with Zombies has volumes so I'm going to run ahead and assume that its a Kuroinu type gimmick where its divided up into multiple parts. Not necessarily a bad thing given that one has patience.
