After her adventures in the previous game, Raidy continues her adventures, with the three monsters Fonfon, Tiss and Folles following behind her, upset at having lost their home in the dungeon. They head to the crime-ridden town of Vice, where Raidy hopes to get help from the local Thieves' Guild. When the four are unable to pay for their meal at an inn, they get in big trouble. The only way to pay off the debt and get their weapons back is to enter a dungeon and remove an evil alchemist who's been kidnapping the humans in the town to perform experiments on them... Once again Raidy must enter a series of mazes and defeat wandering monsters and evil bosses who do naughty things if she loses. But this time there's a new twist: a magical item that allows Raidy to merge with one other individual, allowing the creation of a new being with new strengths that are suitable to take on this new challenge. -
Original JP version was supposed to come out as a trilogy, but due to very disappointing sales figures, whole project has been axed. First arc that got released consists of two chapters, so for now we'll be getting roughly half of what's available in Japan.

Maybe it's a long shot, but some other process might be interfering with the game? I recall one guy in erogedownload comments had a problem when the game crashed constantly while firefox was running. Once he closed the browser, the game ran fine. Another possible culprit might be your antivirus - modern ones often have a kind of "sandbox" mode that isolates processes while they run, and the added overhead might cause slowness? Starting PC in "safe mode" ( Start your computer in safe mode - Windows Help ) might be worth a shot as well. Edit: Oh, one more thing. Have you tried running the game in fullscreen mode? -

Depends on company. JAST is notoriously famous for acquiring licenses and sitting on them for years. ( Sumaga for example had very advanced progress of translation project before JAST bought the rights and they had to take fantranslation down. It was six years ago. Sumaga isn't out yet.). As for translators - most people who do this want to bring certain title to the western audience. Once an official translation gets announced there's really no point in working on second, separate translation, isn't there? Also, there is legal stuff involved - fantranslations are quite grey area - as long as the Japanese company had no intention of bringing title over, it's "victimless crime", but if western company announces the plans, whole dynamic changes. -
Okay, so we narrowed it down in shotubox with the help of rahrah. It's a bug with Windows8.1 - basically game is unable to render some effects in windowed mode on that system. To fix it, either switch to full screen with alt-Enter key combination (apparently you can switch back to windowed mode and it'll keep working). Alternatively, you can open "Options" menu and disable "Show effects" option, which will fix it as well.

That's normal. Translator only TLed the game script files. Menu texts are stored in separate and out of scope of project. It's pretty easy to figure what option is for what tho.
