well, i recommend using a single wallpaper at a time and not themes that changes every 5/10/30 mins or so... if you have a CPU GADGET in your desktop, you'll probably notice that the CPU reading will jump to 50~90% usage without you even doing anything... Eien No Aselia---> has gameplay, great story... Clannad---> very popular edelwiess + edelweiss eden fantasia---> comedy, alchemy, and great multi routes.. that's what i recommend... you could also ask others here by making a thread for recommendations...
