1. Avenger, people do have the right to free speech. However, making a statement/expressing an opinion etc. in the hearing of somebody you KNOW will be offended by for no other reason than to offend them, and not because you are have a discussion with somebody else is not invoking your right to freedom of speech. It is being a jack ass.

And like I said, the quote in your picture isn't relevant. I've asked everybody who keeps calling me that name derived from a single typo several months ago to stop calling me that. Calling me a name that you know I don't like is not expressing an opinion. It is not covered by free speech. It is being a jack ass.

Also, I point this out as a statement of fact only, this thread is posted under "General Discussions and Debates". Here is the only place on the forum I CAN bicker about this. If I posted this thread on one of eroge related sections, you would be well within your right to request this whole thread be deleted.

  2.

That's....not how the world works. At all. I mean...is this supposed to make someone who has offended you back off and say "SORRY I DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOU HAVE RIGHTS!"? Yeah no they'd laugh at you and go back to what they were doing in spades.

    also context pls

The right I mention belongs to everyone by virtue of being born until they do something that forfeits it. The fact of the matter is I should not have had to spell that out. Every thinking person should know that by default.

As to "not how the world works", whose fault is that? The world's fault or the fault of the people who live in the world? Most, I grant not all, of society's problems would go away if every body adopted a policy of "You leave me alone, I'll leave you alone."

Technically, I could argue the "world", not the people who live in the world, DOES work that way. The world is completely unbiased. When natural disasters strike, the world doesn't target any one in specific. It doesn't care if people are there or not. The natural disaster happens anyways. The "world" is respecting the rights of people not to be deliberately insulted.

  3. Kinda missed the point with my critique of reporters in the video. I was using the video as an example of how the press usually twists things to a certain perspective and to hell with the truth. I was not trying to prove the vote was or was not rigged. I might also be overly paranoid the of the press and that was a completely unbiased objective report.

My purpose was to point out that they needed to provide additional context to their claims so as to prove they are being honest, else everything I said about the report being heavily skewed and biased could be true.

  4. I'll throw in one more. The reporters themselves in the second video. (I didn't watch the first video so no comment there.)

Keep in mind while reading the following I am critiquing the reporter(s) in the second video above. I am making no claims one way or the other as to whether or not the vote was rigged.

I do not deny the footage of the vote tampering but the report is missing a few pieces of critical information to make it a "reliable news source".

    1. How many votes was that person responsible for counting.

    2. How many votes total were collected.

    3. How many facilities where collecting votes.

    4. How many of the facilities had people caught tampering with the votes.

We have two instances of confirmed tampering. The one with the vote counter, and the other with the person actually filling out vote forms. Two out of how many? Two out of Ten? Thirty? Three hundred? It may not even be a full one percent. That does not count as a rigged election, just two disgruntled individuals who are committing a crime.

As far as the stacks of votes, only two were discernible in that footage. Even assuming those rubber banded groupings were all "Yes"es, no system is perfect and fool proof. (R&D Motto : You make it idiot proof, we'll make a better idiot!) That could have just been good old fashioned benign human error.

With out those facts, I can only conclude that video is sensationalism to generate more viewers (and therefore, more profit), sensationalism to stir the pot because the guy is a jack ass, or somebody with their own agenda trying to distort fact to fiction to serve his own purposes. There might be other possibilities as well but I can't think of them.

(As a side note, before the videos with in the video [i.e. the camcorder footage and the broad cast news footage, not the video above] was ever used in a court of law, I believe it should be tested by a neutral third party for potential digital manipulation. I'm not saying it was manipulated, just that in this day and age, it's not that hard for somebody with the right know how.)

  5. You don't even have to look that far. This example was taken right from this forum.

If someone finds that you find offensive something that he/she does and you ask him/her to stop then most of the time they will keep doing it just to force a reaction out of you and by creating this poll... boom reaction.

Social norms and etiquette as you would have it do not apply on the internet, being "polite" in most cases is just a way to get what you want, or someone to do something you want, but that is beside the point here.

If someone is being a prick towards you, respond in kind, or just move on, i doubt this is the first time you have encountered this situation.

  6. See:

(I do not know why the picture is not displaying. It does when I hit "Preview" before actually posting. For those who do not like clicking on links in forums, the picture in question can be found on the sixth post of page one of this thread.)

    While it's true that:

    1. Every person has a right to an opinion (on a side note: an opinion derived from objective fact, not mass-media sensationalism, bigotry, etc.)

    2. A second person finding the first person's opinion offensive does not negate the first person's right to have their opinion.

It's also, most importantly, true that:

    3. No body has the right to deliberately express their opinion in the hearing of those who find that opinion offensive for the sole purpose of offending those people and no other reason.

    4. Calling somebody an insulting name for the sole purpose of being insulting after being (POLITELY) asked to stop (MULTIPLE TIMES) has nothing to do with having an opinion so Stephan Fry's quote (the speaker in the picture for those who don't realize who I'm talking about) has nothing to do with this. Your argument is specious.

  7. social norms and etiquette as you would have it do not apply on the internet, being "polite" in most cases is just a way to get what you want, or someone to do something you want, but that is beside the point here.

If someone is being a prick towards you, respond in kind, or just move on, i doubt this is the first time you have encountered this situation.

The only thing I "want" is a return of the curtsey I've shown EVERYONE on this forum for as long as I can remember. I Have NEVER been deliberately rude for the purpose of bothering somebody else and if I have ever accidentally offended someone, I quickly apologize as soon as it is pointed out to me.

I'm sorry you feel being polite does not apply to the internet. Unlike privileges, which must be earned, not being deliberately insulted is a fundamental right to all people that can only be lost by deliberately insulting others who have not already lost this right. The fact that I'm in front of a computer does not change the fact I am a person. As I am a person and have not deliberately insulted anyone who still possesses their right to not be deliberately insulted, I still posses the right to not be deliberately insulted.

  8. Couple of questions about Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete A.K.A. If My Heart Had Wigns.

One: I swear I saw an "x64" tag associated with this title somewhere but now I can't find it for the life of me. Is this game, or at least the version downloadable here, 32-bit or 64-bit?

Granted, as I have a 64-bit computer, it doesn't really mater in the long run.

Two: How well does the uncensor patch re-integrate the removed content? Does the game read as if it was the original 18+ version, or will I be reading the all ages version and then have a sudden plot jolt as it jumps to the 18+ version followed by another plot jolt back to the all ages version?

  9. First a general suggestion. Get the software Norton Ghost. You can make a 1:1 image of your hard drive and paste over another hard drive later in the event of full computer crash etc. (The person who wrote the software is in my top ten favorite people list.)

To Mods and Admin: I'm not trying to "Advertise" anybody's software etc, just and honest suggestion to safe guard against the agonies of computer crashes. Why do you think I include the inventory in my top ten favorite people list?

As to the game, I've only played it to about 70ish % completion, but I have cleared it twice, once being a new game plus. My understanding is that in a new game plus, every thing unlocks. Playing a second round of new game plus does not unlock anything new that you couldn't get in the first new game plus you played. I may be wrong, but I don't think so.

  10. A basic crude method that should work for anything as long as you are using a windows computer. If there is a Mac equivalent, I don't know about it.

Push "Print Screen" (my keyboard has it to the right of "F12"). This should "copy" the current display. Next, open up "Paint" or the art software of your choice and "paste" the image. File --> Save. Done.

  11. Two possible solutions you may already have tried.

First Potential Fix: Switch location settings to Japanese:

I'm Assuming you have Windows XP PRO SP3. It should work with XP Standard/Home as well, but I can't personally verify that. You will also need a Windows Install disk, preferably and actual Windows XP install disk, not just whatever disk that came with your computer to reinstall the OS in the case of total computer crash requiring a new hard drive disk. The "whatever disk that came with your computer" might work as well, but I don't know that for sure.

-Control Panel --> Regional and Language Options

-Under the "Advanced" Tab, NOT "Regional Options", in the section titled "Language for non-Unicode programs", change the drop down box to Japanese.

--If you have don't this before, you will need your Windows XP installation disk to install a few extra files you computer does not install by default.

    -Restart your computer.

Second Potential Fix: Install the extra fonts that this site provides with the that game:

    -Download font files.

--Extract from .rar/.zip archive if needed. Can't remember if they where stored in such.

    -Control Panel --> Fonts

-File Menu --> Install New Font...

-Navigate to where ever you stored the fonts and select the font, push OK.

--Can't remember if there was one or two fonts. If more than one, Install one at a time for safety. Don't try and install both in one go.

--I don't think this requires a restart, but in my experience, when in doubt, reboot. (No, not boot it of the roof of your house, though I can understand the impulse, turn off then turn on the computer)

Beyond that, I can't think of anything that might help. I don't remember having any problems installing this game.

  12. Hi.

Just installed Tsuki: Possession and applied the crack file. The game starts up and runs okay for the most part, but every time the picture changes (i.e. characters facial expression changes, new character added to screen, character removed from screen) there is a noticeable two to four second lag. This get's a annoying very quickly.

Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?

Side note: What does the crack file actually do? Initially, I forgot to drop it in the install folder, yet the game still ran, graphics induced lag included.
