  1. Aran posted a message in the ShoutBox about a broken link and Ivan said to make a notice about it here for him to follow up on later. Since i saw it and there is a chance that Ivan's request will be pushed out the of the ShoutBox by further dialogue by the time Aran logs back in to see it, I'll post it here on Aran's behalf.

The link for the patch files, the single part 346.1 MB file, not the version broken into two parts, is broken. Specifically, the URL: http://downloadani.me/71na2tbd070w/KamidoriPatches.rar

  2. So I read through the shout box and the occasional forum thread and end up wondering, "Just who is that supposed to be in their forum avatar picture?"

So here is a place to identify your pictures if you care to. I'll start off.

My avatar is of the invisible man, which is why it doesn't show up. Apparently the shout box is full of enough hot air (not surprising given it usual participants) to cause heat distortions which is enough to make my avatar's basic outline visible. His actual name is "I'm to lazy to set up an avatar."

  3. Ivan, just an FYI, either something has shifted in your website or a recent update to my browser disregarded the ancient wisdom of "If it's not broken, don't fix it." When I close my browser window, I get logged out of your site. This did not use to happen. Also, If i just leave the browser open to your site for a while, for example if walked away to do something, I end up logged out as well. I did not adjust any of my privacy settings on the browser nor delete my cookies or the like. I've yet to find a reason on my end, though that doesn't mean there is not one, so there may be a bug in the website.

  4. I don't recognize the acronym DotA and Minecraft isn't a free to play game. While I've got nothing against newbies (we all have to start somewhere) I don't recommend buying the game because of this conversation. As I said before, I'm not even sure how to set up a multiplayer game. I'm just putting out feelers to see if it's worth my while to try and figure out how.

As far as being a newbie to mine craft, I do believe there is a free trial/demo version available to try if you want. Here is the game home page if you want to look into it more on your own: Official site | Minecraft

  5. Completely batty, off the wall subject that has nothing to do with VN's (which is why I'm posting in the social section of the forum).

Does anybody here play minecraft? Does anybody have any interest in trying to set up a multiplayer world for the site's members? This is just a high concept, off the wall idea. I'm not even sure how to set up such a multiplayer game assuming I could get enough interest from the people here. I'm not looking to make a big production out of it and try to get on to some sort of top 100 minecraft servers list, just looking to make something for fun for those of us here.

  6. Bench mark! 15 votes! Half way there!

    --------------------

Side note, this was my 255th post, other wise known as FF in hexadecimal (no, that is not a reference to bra size, though given the content of this sight in general, I can see how someone might make the mistake). Being a slight computer science nerd, I just felt like celebrating that a little.

  7. How do I know which one I voted for?

    *Blinks blankly in confusion*

The poll it self is a yes or no question. Presumably, you voted in accordance with your own opinion on the matter. The mechanics of the poll are set up to protect the privacy of those who vote so as to minimize ass-hole behavior of those who disagree with you. I know how I voted, and if you read some of my earlier posts, it should be obvious, but I don't have the means to actually see my own vote in the poll, let alone anyone else. My purpose was to start a debate, not a fight.

Ivan, as the sight administrator, MIGHT have access to that information, but I don't know for sure. Given that whole point of this debate was to alleviate my boredom the night I set it up, it doesn't seem right to bother Ivan over something so trivial.

  8. Mostly because I'm bored, I have decided to try and start a debate. The question: Should visual novels be classified as "games"?

I propose they should not. While they are quite fun and entertaining, there is very little interactivity. I think it would be more appropriate to classify them as e-books.

    Added September 5th, 2018 8:41 EST:

The debates seems to have narrowed in onto only two choices, game or book. While there is nothing wrong with arguing one of those two points, it was not my intent to limit this debate to ONLY those two choices, should somebody have another opinion on the matter.

Additional note: I set the above poll to private. In theory*, no one can see who voted what.

*In theory, theory and practice are one and the same. In practice, theory and practice are completely different.

  9. While I have no idea how to do that, I'm not sure you should even if you could. We are technically stealing from services like to Steam, not to mention the game creators. Do you really want to run the risk of bringing your self to the attention of the police if Steam realizes your using a pirated version of the game? After all, there is logical disconnect between the fact you have achievements for a game and that your account has no purchase record for that game, so how are you playing it to gain the achievements?

All the police would have to do is get your billing address from steam to start the process of hunting you down. They might not even need to a court issued warrant since I'm sure Steam would be eager to see you caught and there for fully cooperate on their own initiative.
