Hey, i could write a couple of mini-reviews for some oldie eroge i've played. Should i put them here, create a new thread or what? Right. They just enjoy jumping on a bandwagon en masse way too much, there's a large group (including admins or mods or whatever) with a made mind about what makes an eroge/vn good/bad and simply put down differing opinions with a sometimes ridiculous 'elitist' attitude that makes no sense considering what is being discussed.

Could it be that the game requires a specific installation folder or something? (i never install games on program files since vista -UAC and all that, i'm on W7 now-). Could the music from the cd be extracted and placed somewhere the game could read it? (replace the midi files perhaps?)

OK, i downloaded the torrent, mounted, installed, blabla, but i still can't get the effing music to work; changed the BGM to CD-DA under preferences while having the second cd image mounted but... nothing. Any ideas?

Heh... ¿qué cuentas compatriota come arepa? pffft... nowadays there's various free software alternatives for a lot of apps. I've been using PowerISO v5.2 for a few months now and it works fine for me, PM for the details if you want.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that this is a common problem with this VN, but i was wondering if anyone here knows about the problem and some solution for it? (a lot of 'atmosphere' gets seemingly lost if playing without the BGM)...

Or, if you can't find a scripter to do that stuff for you, just release the translation as a nicely formatted text document to be read along the original VN. Better than nothing for sure...

Hah! have you ever met a lady who is well aware of this and makes good use of it (to your detriment)? or even sub-consciously (but still to your detriment)? I have, and therefore find nothing sexy about weeping ladies and take every tear with a grain of salt, even on VN's, heh.

Ah, ok, thanks for answering. I'm not really fond of them 3D ones (not sure why, but i'm not). What's Adam story about? does it go by another name (can't find it on vndb)... Also, checked Oreimo Plus on vndb, looks like a nice enough nukige, is there english translation for it?

TBH, i wasn't specifically refering to that game when i mentioned the tear-jerking troppes list* but i was refering to it when i talked about contrived tear-jerking intent, i mean, seriously, when you see that over-the-top premise (school for crippled/injured teens) the first thing that comes to mind is 'trying too hard' or something... but oh well. *I wouldn't know as i actually haven't played it; i've seen the premise, read comments and discussions, but i haven't played it. I'm not sure if this particular one has that tag, but i won't go anywhere near any eroge that has the Utsuge tag on vndb... It can be ugly sometimes yes. Personally it only bothers me when the main character is doesn't feel the least bit sorry, acts irredimably and hateful, like that psycho guy from Heartwork. Ufff. But what if the MC is a 32 year old and the girl is 25? Yeah, that does happen, but unfortunately some of the side characters are sometimes less fleshed out/developed than the main ones, which doesn't balance it out pretty well... maybe the eroge developers are trying to send a message to young players or something?; 'get used to it, women are whinny'? lol

I don't like stories or developments that reek of forced and/or contrived tear-jerking intent. Some even go through most tear-jerking troppes on the list in a single eroge. A school of crippled/injured teens, really? I am reminded of that American Dad episode where the alien guy (playing the role of a cliche bond villain) made a movie where the main character was a mentally retarded, alcoholic, jewish boy, in the middle of war-torn polland hiding from the nazis on some attic with his desperate family, and even though he finds a little joy in his puppy companion, it dies somewhere in the movie and the kid not understading death carries the corpse around... all rounded up with depressing tunes and filmed in black and white... the episode depicted the press representatives as having died from excessive crying.
