  1. I don't undertand why people archive these things if you most likely won't play the VN again.
  2. I actually finished a DS VN called "Infinite Space" a while ago. I will discuss it here because I don't find it anywhere on either forum or game list. It's practically a spacefaring game where a young boy ends up becoming a captain of a ship. You are the young boy, and you can control the ship -> FLEET during battle, involved ship customization options, travel between regions, etc. The game is in no way childish, and has many adults themes (except h-scene ). I give it an 8.5/10. It has good art, good music, and the gameplay is OK. The story gets extremely deep as you progress throu
  3. Seems MGQ part 3 is twice as long as any one installment. Don't forget that lines doesn't exactly mean sentences. At least 70-80% of that is coding. The scripts are pretty easy to extract and the coding is self-explanatory if you're experienced with programming. Maybe I'll go through MGQ 1+2 again since I played it last December.
  4. Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua Reproduction OST Disc 1 11 - 蘇る神話 Love music with high contrast.
  5. Should I even bother with the the anime? I saw the OP on youtube and quit ahead of time after watching Yuu play the violin (this was the first season OP).
  6. I just finished ef - a fairy tale of the two last night. I chose this VN cause I wanted something lighthearted and funny after playing the ML series and FSN one after the other. I was wrong..... hahahahaha.... I'm tired.... Anyway, ef is definitely not lighthearted and becomes heavy before the midpoint of the game. It's practically a romantic VN featuring stories of different couples and how they all end up influencing eachother in the end. The graphics/effects/art is really some top quality stuff. This game has more well-drawn CGs than all three routes of FSN combined. The movies are al
  7. One could also view the faults of Takeru as making him seem more human. *shrug* I think a superhuman protagonist would've been just as annoying.
  8. Yes, MGQ really is one of the... Interesting ones out there. MGQ part 3 is almost done and should come out in the summer. Translation should be completed by the end of the year. Expect part 3 to contain the most monsters with an epic continuation and conclusion of the story.
  9. In that case, I wouldn't be suprised if you end up thinking MLA is idiotic the farther you progress through it. If you're not enjoying it by the end of episode 7 or 8 then I would just quit. That's the midpoint of the game.
  10. I guess the most vocal are those who loved MLA. I loved every second of it (only treated MLE/MLU as major lead-ins) but am not suprised at all that there are those who dislike it. It all depends on your preferences and MLA precisely hit all of mine at the same time. Maybe you'll have better luck with something like Fate/Stay Night.
  11. Although this isn't VN related, I finished watching fate zero last night. I have to say it was just awesome. I had more fun watching that series than going through FSN VN. The characters, voice acting, music, and animation were also of high quality. I can say that one would enjoy it to its fullest after playing FSN. This is actually the first anime series I have watched in a very long time. I don't want to make any generalizations but are animes recently becoming more (psychologically) violent? I'm talking about As for the VN, I will go ahead and give it an 8/10. This mean above average
  12. I ended up finishing FSN UBW and HF. I was under the impression that the last episode of the Fate route gets unlocked after going through all three routes for the Realta Nua version. Is this not so for the PC game? Edit: Whoops, nevermind, I figured out what the problem is. Anyway, for the user who stopped at Fate route, just know that what one first views is the "normal" ending. There's a "true" ending for the Fate route that's only unlocked after seeing all the other endings. Definitely a must see if you are particular towards the Fate route.
  13. Come now, it's not like an impotent, weak, jackass protagonist is uncommon to VNs.
  14. That's quite funny as I usually delete a VN after finishing. The only exception is the ML series. Anyway, I finished FSN Fate route last night. I don't know why so many people dislike the Fate route and the ending. I thought it was quite fitting. People usually mention that the Fate route is only there to introduce the story, but I disagree. I don't ever see It took me some time to get into the game, but it was enjoyable towards the end. I'll play the other routes starting from next Thursday. I honestly don't expect much more from the other routes but get the feeling they're much m
  15. Yes, I realized that. I usually just type the game name then gamefaqs on google to go straight to the walkthroughs, guess it sometimes picks up topics in random forums.
  16. Is Rewrite that good? Just looking at the artwork gives me the feeling that the game is a little... Immature/Childish. I get the same feeling when looking at the other games from the same creators.
  17. Recently started FSN as well. Still on Fate route. A little pissed though as I was searching for a walkthrough via google, one of the first results was a topic in another forum titled ..... I don't exactly know what that means but can take a pretty good guess (-_-'). Unfortunately, I can't seem to find myself liking any of the characters so far. I am also waiting around to see if "Fuji-Nee" dies, I REALLY can't stand her. I do admit though, after dealing with Takeru from ML series, Shirou doesn't seem so bad . The story is so-so (I'm on Day 9 I think), but I'm more of a sci-fi guy than
  18. I probably forced desi to replay MLA just to confirm the previous questions . ML Supplement is a real continuation of the MLE Sumika route. It just shows what happens towards graduation, and also has a bunch of other unrelated short stories. I think there's also a parody-like continuation of Meiya's route. MLAF is NOT a sequel to MLA in any way. Even before the title screen, there's an intro + voice over of that explains that MLAF is in no way a continuation of MLA, but just starts off where MLA last left. MLAF is one giant parody that makes fun of the ML series and a few RL issues. Eve
  19. I know why Takeru So, gentlemen, are we starting to have headaches? ^_^ Anyway, that's what I meant by holes in the story that I've noticed. I guess it's useless to ask "what if" questions in the end unless these holes were introduced by mistranslations.
  20. I've actually been replaying MLA cause there were a bunch of holes I found in the story and was hoping it was because I couldn't remember all the details of this long VN. For example: Another interesting thing I noticed is I more or less agree with the review, and also provided my mini-review on that "last played VN" thread. I just didn't like
  21. Ended up finishing MLAF for a couple different routes. You really do have to treat this VN as one big parody. In that case, a lot of things make sense (like Takeru being a much bigger idiot than MLE). MLAF makes fun of different subjects in the ML series and some show called "24".
  22. I've been trying out ML Altered Fable and stopped at 50% This fandisk is merely a big comedy consisting of most characters from MLA. It even says in the intro that MLAF is in no way a sequel to MLA. Ends up starting off right where MLA ended. If you liked the characters and want to see more of them, then maybe MLAF is for you. About the only serious part was If you hated Takeru in MLE, you will abhor him in MLAF. He's much worse, and it's annoying to see him treat Sumika like garbage after MLA, but oh well, this is meant as a parody and it's not actually a sequel. The game also has a demo
  23. I also just finished it this morning, but ended up playing the game through the night. Will probably give a deeper opinion tomorrow when I can think straight. So far, it's also one of my fav VNs. I treat MLE and MLU as just the lead-in for MLA so didn't really take them seriously other than something that will help me enjoy MLA more. Anyway, sound/visuals were pretty good, even by today's standards (for a VN). As I mentioned before, all the little things like simulated sound effects and blinking eyes / moving mouths during conversations really added to the immersion of the game. I
  24. It's not the easiest translating VNs. I am not talking about the difficulty of grammar or vocabulary, but just the size of the content. This VN is especially easy to translate but it's like translating a whole book. People do it for free out of their busy schedules so it's not suprising to see random projects drop off. Imagine trying to translate MLA alone, would probably take years assuming 1-2 minutes per full sentence.
  25. In the middle of episode 8 from MLA right now. I have to put it on hold until Wednsday afternoon now that RL has caught up to me. That's unfortunate as a VN won't be as good if you don't maintain momentum *shrug* The visual/sound effects of this VN is intensely amplified with a 27'' screen and headphones for surround sound. Only thing I have to say so far is.... Good god x.x
