Did you try messing with the video codecs? Only issue I had was with the opening video, if I used the "stretched"/fit to screen aspect ratio, then the video is playing in smaller size and is not centered. I only installed the game and RC2 patch. Oh and installed it outside Program Files (on C:/Nitroplus)

To be honest, you won't miss out on much if you don't play this game. It's one of those ~3 hour softhouse seal games and they are rather bad, but at least this one has some "gameplay".

I'm fine with it either way, since the 1st game needs to be translated first, I can wait. I've seen someone suggest that they should just leave h-scenes untranslated, which is a good idea - it's not like you don't understand what's happening. Though the "Afterward, we may work on the rest of the routes as a side project or perhaps toss the baton to a more enthusiastic group" is not great news, it may be left as a partial TL :/

Torrents gained more "popularity" after the Megaupload bust (after which most of the top cyberlockers bailed). The cyberlockers are getting back to normal since almost a year passed since then.

I hate having incomplete VNs as well. Got a few of them myself - Harem Party (did the loli route only), Monster Girl Quest 1 (stopped midway) and the motherfucking Snow Sakura which I really hate. The easiest way to do it is - Mount the disc with Daemon tools and just run/install the patch (if you didn't mount the disc, you'll get this screen http://i.imgur.com/Uevm3.jpg?1). The patch will install the game for you and apply the translation automatically. Just make sure you remove the game before doing it, since you've installed it already. It should work no problem like that.

It's not really JAST's fault to begin with. Even if they wanted to make it playable on Win8 (which is doubtful), they couldn't because Win8 was still in development. The game was released (untranslated) in 2009, you can't be certain that it will work in some OS that gets released 4-5 years later.

I'm just happy that Kud Wafter didn't die and is making steady progress.

Agreed, e-hentai and exhentai have pretty much everything. Only catch is that you need to play HentaiVerse for download points unless a torrent is available.
