You mean Katawa Shoujo, I think. Western VNs have been commonplace for a while now, but Western EROGE, that is rather different indeed. KS is the only really good one (massive IMO here), and the only one that has gotten a lot of attention. There are a couple others that are interesting or enjoyable. (There is one in particular that is a F/SN fanfiction that has great art called Happy Valentines Day. Very nice read.) But like most early Western VNs (and more recent ones than I would like)... the rest are meh or bad. Hopefully both sides of Western VN development step up their a-game. I'd love to see more at least good ones come out and less bad or passable ones.

^Well is IS a yandere game. Expecting anything else would prove unwise. XD JAST has been uploading a lot of preview images of School Days to Twitter, but no news about a release date for either edition. ACH. -
R-18 Otome games (Mature) Discussion.
Bane Doyle replied to Stoopet's topic in General Discussions & Debates
Can we please let this thread die again? This is going back to "we are right and she is wrong" again. With highly uncomfortable undertones. Her having a different opinion does not make her a troll (even if they are kinda doofy). Let the thread die again. This discussion is getting us nowhere. At all. It's the same thing. Again. -
Does Jdownloader WORK with DA? I was using MiPony but it doesn't support it. (and I don't trust things from languages I can't read...)
-
That could be your problem. FF had a tendency to do the same thing to me as well, especially with larger files. Try using a different browser or something else. EDIT: Well, I just tried a few files. Small ones (50 MB and lower) work fine but large ones (100 up) don't start at all. Maybe it's a site issue, again. Wait and try again in a few hours. DA's been wonky these past two days. EDIT2: Now it just takes longer for larger files. It's the site, not the links or you it may seem. EDIT3: Yeah, same thing just happened to me. It's the site. Gotta wait.

^Thank you very much! I was hoping to get hold of some games in the G section soon. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Feeble ?? Attempt by western VN developer
Bane Doyle replied to inthesky's topic in Eroge General Talk
So... it's a mix of Lux-Pain (written script not matching spoken dialogue, but decent acting) and Casual Romance Club (Japanese VAs, but with hopefully better voice acting)? That's... interesting. I'd be up for listening to that actually, just to see how it places -
Feeble ?? Attempt by western VN developer
Bane Doyle replied to inthesky's topic in Eroge General Talk
The only examples I can think of for simultaneous language releases are GGN! (which was NOT released in Japan, as it was made purely for the American audience as a kind of teachinf tool), the re-release for Ace Attorney in Japanese for the DS, and Koenchu! (which is made by a Japanese armature group in conjunction with people in the OELVN community after an initial release in Japanese). Granted, the later is a very special case as it also has English voice acting (that ranged from very good to meh, not unlike the Giniro example I suppose), was published by the developers, and has Spanish, German, AND Italian options for the demo. I don't think they will ever release simultaneous languages in any release unless the circumstances are special. So, uh, Giniro... is the voice acting any good? -
Feeble ?? Attempt by western VN developer
Bane Doyle replied to inthesky's topic in Eroge General Talk
They took that down from their site to "improve it" I believe. It's never been put back up. These two examples are rather poor. There are many, MANY, more Western VNs out there, quite a few of them much better than the first you listed. The problem is that quite a few of the other suck and the western audience has a bit of an issue with this style of game. "Too much story, not enough action" and all that. They don't get very popular because of that unless they get lucky or work exceptionally hard (Christine Love and Analogue making it to Steam). Thanks to the stigma of "you're just copying Japanese VNs", Western devs seem to be moving away from being similar to traditional eroge (for lack of a better term) in story and execution. At least in theory, you still have far more traditional ones like Katawa Shoujo. And, thanks to the lack of translated ones, there are a lot of otome games like Magical Diary: Horse Hall (mixed with a stat raising sim) or Re: Alistar++. Than you have more interesting ones like Digital: A Love Story, which is a very different execution all together. Bane, your "you will play almost anything" is showing. -
UH, YEAH NO. I like MLP but I do NOT want to know this exists when it looks like THAT. AGH. NO.

... I think this is going a little to far. It is one thing to tear apart her post, but this is delving into bashing and personal attacks on her. Much like her fantroll against me for the first two asks they sent actually. Isn't this too much? I will not continue this discussion if it continues like this and I know I won't be able to stop yours. But I think this thread has gone too far. -

Well random rape and abuse isn't what I would call common in everyone's daily life that they would WANT (rape/dub-com fantasies aside, I've had my share of those when I was younger... the former when I was DUMBER), but I see some of the other things that statement goes toward. Especially things like "clothing sex". I LOVE MGQ. I adore the idea of Monster Girls and since nothing really bugs me it fit into all of my kinks/fetishes nicely, but I understand when people say it isn't for them, given how much it deviates. I was less talking to them and more watching them SCREAM AT HOW STUPID AND DISGUSTING I AM MY OPINION SUCKS GO DIE while being confused and amused. I am certain they are fans of the article writer's blog, but I am not sure if they were 7 fans or just one very angry one. I didn't even bother replying, it wasn't worth feeding them. -

Really? Well, there must be some obscure ones out there that she doesn't know of that are more vanilla. I hope she finds them. True... Maybe a better example would have been that I like, say... footjobs. I think they're hot, and it is one of the more common kinks I know of. But a lot of people I know think they're gross. I think the same basic thing, it's just not their taste. Sadly, you are right, that IS common stuff in 18+ games from Japan. It's a different culture so we're bound to have some nasty culture shock we don't like when we get into something new, especially when sex is involved. Especially if you're really not into anything aside from vanilla sex. I'm actually quite amazed at how squicked out other women are when I tell them what is in the games I play because not much bothers me at all anymore. ... then again, I like Monster Girl Quest... I am glad I have never shared that information with another woman. -

Acually, I have to agree with Red Panda. Let's see if someone can make a list and send it to her. I don't think she is underage, that is too much to automatically assume. Maybe she just doesn't like it? I don't like scat. That doesn't make me not liking games with it in it a prude or underage. That just means I don't like scat. She's just pickier than most. I DO understand how that could offend though, quite easily in fact. But I am not the type to jump to harsh conclusions. I do agree, that post was written poorly. But now that we can see what she most likely meant it doesn't seem like she meant harm by it. (Nah, they stopped after 7 anons. Go ahead and forgo everything else in it now that they're bored) -

^Just as I edit that post to clarify too! XD Edited bit up there: (I sent you a PM thinking it was her but it is quite clear that it was one of her FANS instead taking the ordeal too far.) Hence -Link Redacted- I didn't want to make her look worse than she is, she is actually very nice. End edited bit. I think she was getting at "this is what I PERSONALLY want, not what I think should happen", as she elaborated to me a bit more. She really isn't that bad, just zealous. Nothing wrong with that, and while I highly disagree with her I respect her opinions. She isn't saying they shouldn't exist, she just wants OTHER KINDS that she can't find to exist as well, as she stated to me. I don't think she is prudish, just really annoyed and kinda picky (again, nothing wrong with that), but I see where you might get that meaning from the quote then. I wish I had the conversation we had saved, Tumblr doesn't save asks when you answer them privately, and I know my word on its own is rather weak. I think most of this is just a large amount of misinterpretation of a poorly worded blog post. -

No no no, originally I had a link there and was replying to the original poster off forum, since she had read this and I couldn't get hold of her elsewhere, (of course someone who knows my Tumblr then sent me hate asks, but it wasn't her, she was very nice about the ordeal when I DID get hold of her. I sent you a PM thinking it was her but it is quite clear that it was one of her FANS instead taking the ordeal too far) that was not aimed at you or anyone else in this thread. Hence -Link Redacted- I didn't want to make her look worse than she is, she is actually very nice. This is the sexist comment I was referring to. 8| No matter how you look at it, that's... that is sexist. Even if it was made as a joke. -

-Link Redacted_ -I- am a girl. And I know what -I- would like in an 18+ otome game. We're not all guys here. You can have your opinion honey, that is fine. But not all girls agree with you. Don't assume we will, please? For the record, since you brought the game up, I love Hakuoki. Though, reading over this topic, I don't think some of these comments are called for. Especially the sexist ones. But I am outnumbered here, I won't fight what I am going to be buried in. -
You might have a virus or something else because that does not happen to me when I go to any of the links on MaW!2 or... any other link. I always get taken to either adfly or directly to the mediafire account.

The only things I really (sort of) agree with are: 1) Rape subtext when it isn't rape. I know it is a cultural thing, but that sounds kinda... creepy to me. It comes with the territory though, what does she expect? Not going into rape fantasies, that's just fine to me, and rape is common in nearly every 18+ game from Japan so I have learned to cope. Heck, this doesn't even bother me at this point, I am used to it. 2) The girl being louder than the guys. I am playing a game and fucking guys as a girl, I wanna hear the guys NOT "ME"! This sounds like her only logical and real complaint, I mean, eroge for guys has female voices and no male usually for sex scenes, why it is not reversed for otome games? I don't expect them to be loud and screaming, but I don't want to not hear them and to hear my character screaming in my ear. It kinda... breaks the mood. I won't comment on anything else. -
Futsuno Fantasy It just looks so COOL even though it isn't out yet. Ahhh... I'll just have to wait and see if it is any good before hopeing for a translation in the first place.

Not ALL of the games are gone, most of the newer one are still up. Looks like he's on his way rather quickly, and now with some sort of "unlock" feature too. Should be useful, if a bit annoying for us, but it will be worth it.
