Valdis Story Abyssal City Valdis Story: Abyssal City on Steam First Indie game to really impress me, it's like a 2d Darksouls - was a really fun game and leaves you wanting more. (oh and the music is epic for a indie title)

I jsut leave my non-unicode to japanese 99% of the time; as i have yet to see it conflict with any english games/programs. The one thing I can say I learnt over time was to "shave down" folders and folder names: I used to have my VN collection buried down like 6 sub dir's - obviously that started cuasing weird errors. I also try and rename folders to short and concise names rather then some long name or japanese symbols. Stuff like that has always worked for me to get pretty much any VN to run. then of course there's compatibilty mode - but i've only needed that for the really old ones~

in all honesty I wouldent even consider Staircase anymore, Insem has not really made any attempts to refute the claims circulating across the web, nor showed interest in communicating the intentions of the group. The pessamist in me thinks he just gets kicks from being ambigous, and the realist in me assumes the lack of communication means there is no intention to continue. Sure, the whole "not saying anything might mean he will suprise everyone" is a nice thought, but I'm a far too jaded of a person to be that wishful

Looking good - though we can probably expect the skirt to be lengthened by the time it goes live on Steam, its abit short for a girl of that depicted age. (Or at least, I can presume that's what Steam will assume if it wants to avoid ruffling too many feathers out there in the publics eye) MY only complaint is the hair - I kinda prefer it the other way - straight and plain, just fits her better~

I bought it awhile back. it's "o.k." for a OELVN. It's about a days worth of playthrough. Writing is abit weak, but makes up that shortcoming with all the branching possibilities (based on choices and skills). Honestly, if I were to hazard a guess I would aim for 2016 tbh - assuming he doesn't get sick of TLing. It really depends on the pace his current project is going at, and whatever life events happen between now and it's completion. Might be sooner if Meikyuu has more then one person manning the TL role, but dunno. So far in the future I'm not even going to worry about it.

2014-06-29 Was the last update at VNDB's history list (for updated English release info), of course, that doesn't mean anything - as anyone can update the database - but given he started it Dec 2012, and his last update was this past April - I think it's still okay to assume he hasent dropped it. If I remember right isn't it May or so when univeristy/college student finish school? Could be he just wants to chill for abit.

Gotta admit Sankarea was a unique story - I havent poked around the web yet, but I presume it will have more seasons~ I liked some aspects of it but not others, a complicated feeling. It'll sound strange, due to the premise - but I wish it had taken itself alittle more seriously at the "key" moments instead of humor, but I admit i was mildly suprised at the dark undertones the anime at times hinted at (rea's family stuff, Ranko's possesive nature, etc) Thanks for the recco, i'll have to keep my eye out for more of it if/when it comes out. oh and:

While I agree with you in the sense H-scenes are not the lifeblood of a good story, they do still express a mental/emotional aspect that cannot be depicted by any other means; and if you bothered to think about what he wrote, he did make some reasonable points regarding Amane's personality. Sure, I can see easy ways to move away from H-scenes and still maintain the character development - but that doesn't mean he was wrong either. How about we keep on topic somewhat?

That version is sexy in it's own way too, I don't feel any loss tbh. I suspect the thing that bogs it down is determining localization b.s. - after all, anywhere Steam is active, it has to meet the legal requirements of said area, and block/allow/modify sale of a given product. A good example is Australia with their tight grip on censorship - some games sold in NA/Canada/other-parts-of-world are banned over there, or the games are modified so as to meet the regulations~ honestly just a bunch of legal hoops that not even steam wants probably.

I'll have to check out Sankarea, haven't heard of it before. Wasen't sure what to think about Corpse Party series - I've heard it's decent but I can't get past the oldschool approach (the overhead jrpg thing - used to love them 10 years ago - but that was 10 years ago, lol), but I should maybe give it a chance. As for Another, heh it's basically Final Destination in anime format - and just as unfulfilling (though it had its good moments). Thanks! Just finished watching it - nicely adapted from the manga, mostly. Put me in the mood for more ghosty-drama-lulz-romance-tears. Anyone able to list off anything that comes close? (VN, anime, and/or manga?)
