  1. Eh, woulden't know - I havent tried reading a MT in a looong time; I suspect I might be able to make more sense of it now, with a firmer understanding of their speech and grammer style (solely based off of years of llistening to verbal japanese - compared to prior when I didnt even understand the diferences in their sentence constructions). But I see your point, it really would be patchy guess-work if they rely on a english MT as a source. Now, a question - what if it was MT'd from traditional symbols to romanji (instead of english)? I suspect even novices would have an easier time grasping
  2. Exactly - that's why I dont "completely" dispise MTs, it's a decent starting block for TLrs (as I've heard it's a easier starting point then straight Kana/Kanji), though I question how much gets lost in translation (does a MT accurately TL the symbols/strokes?). Of course Japanese to english involves some context creation and creativity no matter what, but that more jsut the nature of the beast~
  3. Wonder how they would manage a all-ages Higurashi? I can't see it being a effective tale by snipping any of the darker stuff - in fact, that's what made the story so chilling~ And I don't recall much sexual content at all in it (other than some jokes and inuendo). And completely agree with you - a VN like Grisaia on STEAM could end up being serious business by sparking interest in the genre overseas, it is a well told tale and doesn't embaress the genre at all (some concerns about if/how they will water down the more traumatic parts (such as most of Amane's story, etc) I don't know how S
  4. Nice - I hadn't noticed that - I already have tthe full set using the patched ps2 art, but be interesting to see what they do (or VO's, too much to hope for, but still!). Eh, I get that it's a good story regardless of the art - hell, when I first read Tskuhime I cringed at the artstyle - but it kinda grows on you. I guess with the Hirugashi/Umeniko series it's jsut too far out there - kinda like the protag from Accel World - no matter how serious the series tries to be, the mood is destroyed with his overly cartoony appearnce~ I'd rather have Meikyuu, but that's still seriously awesom
  5. Yeah, yeah I am well aware of his notoriety, it not what I was going for here, lol
  6. I admit I took "Translation Progress: 34%" for granted; I did not bother d/ling a partial back then, because I can't stand partials. HOWEVER, I might not have tried the patch myself - but I am aware the commen route was fully TL'd; the reason for the machine TL you reffered to is explained in a old post during the TL project: Source: http://visualnovelaer.fuwanovel.org/2013/03/da-capo-iii-common-route-fully-translated-now-playable/ Thus impliying it required the proper hooking with Visual Novel Reader. Perhaps you were one of those few that had the patch and/or text hooker setu
  7. Didn't NNL do that tactic as well with EF? Honestly I still thinks it's bonkers that a C&D can be issued for just TRANSLATING a story - I get the whole piracy aspect, that just obvious - but if someone bought a legit copy of the VN overseas, it jsut doesnt make sense they cannot use a fan patch to TL it, lol. Even if a localization group like MG has a vested interest - woulden't be "whoever finishes it first, wins"? Ah well, maybe I'm just still bitter about DC3, esp. at the retardly slow TL rate of MG compared to the original TL pace. I can't speak for Gerard directly - but it'
  8. Poking around afew of my bookmarked projects - noticed a tweet earlier this month over at Kohaku Translations that apparantly they are halfway done translating the first of the 3 Ley Line titles (Tokeijikake no Ley Line). Source: exciting news if i am not misinterpreting it.
  9. I've actually been looking forward to swords of Edo since I noticed it on Steam's greenlight - I'm going to buy it directly from the devs though, as I dont want some overly censored version due to Steams rules. Honestly, I think the VNDB people ripped into it abit harshly - From what I've seen iof it, it looks liek it will be a solid read. Hmm, despite that - I suspect that's before editing, but we'll see - Amaratsu has always been good about delivery time. EDIT: Suzu = my waifu, sweet cute kitsune.
  10. Gotta give you props for pointing out loe Quality - I didn't even think about it 'till you mentioned it - that guy does good work, and is pretty fast too compared to other TL teams. Didn't know about Oneji Sora, so that abit more fodder for me to review. ========================================= Also, as someone posted over at VNDB (regarding Dracu-riot): Slightly rage inducing, but on the postive aspect, it may mean someone is picking up the project - but from scratch. if it's real or not can't be verified though, hell it might just be a fake email, but I'm willing to fool mysel
  11. Assuming that chatlog isn't them trolling, it's a wonder how they only realized the state of the TL now. Time will tell I guess.
  12. So, I thought I'd hold my voice on this one... but given the rumors going around this month - can it even be called real anymore? Or is the plan to be very wishful and maybe bold/italic the "has A LOT of work ahead of him". lol
  13. Woulden't bother with the unofficial Fate/Hollow patch - some real drama behind it, and the patch is 28% machine translation (or various versions, pretty sure I read pirate lingo in there at some point - and even a version of ermahgurd-speak). Reading through Beast's Lair gives the impression they are washing their hands of the project, but i'm being stupidly hopeful they'll just wait for this false patch hype to die down and go back to working on it (hey, a guy can dream - i've waited since '09 to read this vn, I can wait longer). Sad thing is, this is the second time they've been naile
