  1. I'll have to consider giving Clannad a second read-through, now have a sharper eye for those kinds of things, having had more experience with various translation styles. COuld be I waved it off back then as just humorous mumbojumbo, that was often scattered throughout~ Still, "Are you pretty dog? I am pretty dog too." still cracks me up~ EDIT: Though, my final thought - even if it turns out it was a bad TL (and I discover such when I re-read it), I cried when it wanted you to cry, and I laughed when it wanted you to laugh - I consider that at least a partial success, if nothing else.
  2. ^I call shinanigans - there's no way a desktop can ever be that clean (but aweome wanko-esque background)
  3. Wha? seriously? Did I stumble across a different copy from anyone else? lol I honestly swear I did not notice any machine TL in it - I'm abit absentminded at times - but I pride myself on my literacy - I can't think of any MT'd parts tbh, unless it was the bad ends or the "extra" routes (such as the softball thing) in which I ignored/avoided. Mind you I got my copy pre-patched with the voiceovers included, so maybe some random anon that seeded it made adjustments? idk. EDIT: If someone can point me to a scene as an example - I'd actually like to compare it to my copy, I'm geuninely curiou
  4. If anyone knows, it'd help out. I can't ask there for help becuase - well, it says: Right on account creation, before I can even receive a email verification to activate the account, lol. Thoughts on the cause? And if it's temporary or permanent? Tried to make another account through a proxy, just in the wierd case it was a region/IP thing, still the same nonsense~ With Fuwa's scratchpads effectively locked, I figured I'd start poking around there forums abit more directly; but in the current state...
  5. I never really saw the big deal with Clannad's TL - I can't read Japanese, so I don;t know the details - but I understand the spoken word fairly well, and it came across as fairly accurate. (And it certainly didn't lack feeling or context). Unless it's a Nasu-style problem where people cried about it not being pretentious enough. Thing is, some things just can't be translated well into english without sounding like well... Shikkoku no Sharnoth (Good VN, but heavy on the "artsy" speak - over-convoluted too much of the dialoge in my personal opinion).
  6. My only problem (so far, until Higurashi/Grisaia come out) with Steam is they pump out the embaressingly BAD VNs - making the genre as a whole look worse then it actually is. I'm still really bitter about half-assed projects like Fading Hearts, or overly-sexualized, poorly written fluff like Sakura Spirit. Don't get me wrong - the VN scene is almost always incorperates a form of sexualization - it's stupid to think otherwise; but if presenting to a "Mainstream" crowd - you need to put on the kidgloves, so to speak~ (story>sexytime, etc) Speaking of Steam - Swords of Edo got greenlit,
  7. Ah I didnt know about that - that actually does sound pretty bad tbh. Either they aren't hitting sales (in general) enough to reach the goal, and in turn is a desprate ploy to bring more attention - or it hopes to waive off piracy. Typically MG has "always" charged based on length of a title - so its either short, or they done goofed. EDIT: Eden* - Short (2 - 10 hours) - VNDB That would be my guess on the pricing, tbh. If they think people will pay more then that for a title of that length, when Steam sells (terrible) VNs at the 15 - 20 range, then they would be kidding themselves. The
  8. People will buy almost anything if it's on sale - even if they don't really know what they are buying. If it's marketed right, and catch a persons eye - ie: front page on Steam. EDIT: Why do you think so many broken/terrible games manage to make it onto Steam? Becuase if you sell something, there will always be a buyer.
  9. http://i.imgur.com/aNEJwab.jpg Say what you will about SAO; it had some great scenes visually~
  10. Just finished watching the series - all I can say is "wow". Only the ending bugged me, but ah well.
  11. Cool, i'm down with that - obviously I won't find a serious, developed plot to satisfy my mind - but the idea of animation in a VN (that sticks to a mostly 2-d feel unlike Lovedeath series, and avoids movie-esque attempts like Schooldays) has appeal. plus its cute
  12. When it first came out (at least on Steam in early august, not sure when the psp release date was), I went over to XSeed to learn about the other chapters, they had a launch post saying they were excited to bring the next one in by around November - but I suspect they backpedaled on that, as that post vanished, and the general word on Steam forums is next year. =/
  13. http://i.imgur.com/1TlBqM8.jpg "In the place of a Dark Lord you would have a Queen! Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morn! Treacherous as the Seas! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair!" Coulden't help but think of that line from LoTR when I see this image of Corrupt Saber.
  14. Last update by their team claimed to have picked up another editor to help it along - been quiet since, but hopefully meaning progress has been made.
  15. Just finished up Comyu. It was meh; I was expecting more then it gave, and imo the two "light" arcs took away from the overall setting (not even the loli could save it). Best arc imo was the quiet transfer girl; it was dark and gritty, and felt like it was given the most depth. Kogome would be a close 2nd - but they didnt give me a genuine "dere" moment so it loses points. Ayakashibito was this years best for me, hands down. Because Suzu is just awesome.
  16. nah just a cocktease. =/ And switch - Lolis are not eye-cancer, they are just so awesome people go blind from it
  17. Rin, hands down. (Illya would be runner-up). Maybe it's because you explore her personality as the very first aspect of the VN during the intro, but she just feels like the most fleshed-out character; and a decent personailty without a over-done habit (such as a tsundere being TOO tsun all the time etc). She a hard woman, but has a good heart.
  18. You know what that's from? Looks like it could have interesting context.
  19. Glad to see that one coming along - I dont think I can re-read it again, but I will definatly go through the two new arcs. Setting aside LB hype - and a few small project releases lately - it feels awfully quiet on the "big" releases that are sopposedly near completion - it's been alittle frustrating. Guess it's that time of year (as a large percentage of people that TL/edit seem to still be in some form of school etc, so the fall is like progress-killer). Still waiting on Koichoco as my next big "hopeful" title. Witch on the Holy night has become my new "Fate/Hollow will never be done" tit
  20. Dust is actually a pretty decent game, loved the music in it.
