Girlish Grimoire Littlewitch Romanesque: Editio Perfecta

Four moons illuminate the sky in an alternate world governed by swords, magic, and monsters. This realm, known as Stellamund, transitioned from the tumultuous "Age of Tower" to the flourishing "Age of Crown." During the bygone era, wizards who ignited a catastrophic war have since lost their influence and now quietly delve into arcane studies at the Grimoire Academy.

This narrative unfolds over three years, centering on an exceptionally gifted wizard born in this era, his female protégés, a relic from ancient times called the "Black Tower," where they reside, and the individuals drawn to them.

The protagonist, Domino, earned the distinction of becoming the ninth preeminent wizard at Grimoire Academy. His rapid ascent in the wizarding world was unprecedented for one so young, yet he soon grew disillusioned with the academy. The other eminent wizards viewed magic merely as a ladder to personal gain, neglecting its research for power struggles.

Seeking solitude, Domino relocated to the remote Black Tower, once inhabited by a legendary wizard from the Age of Tower. However, his peers disapproved and imposed a challenge upon him.

This challenge was to mentor a fully competent wizard within three years—a feat typically spanning decades. Adding to the difficulty, his two wards, Aria Vancliff and Kaya Xavier, were among the academy's most challenging students. Will Domino be able to complete this difficult task...?

There's a mouthful of a title for you. Is that even English (or Japanese, as the case may be)?

I dare somebody to say it three times fast.

That's the official English title that JAST chose.

Japanese title was "少女魔法学 リトルウィッチロマネスク editio perfecta" and means roughly the same ( they use "magic school" instead of "spellbook" ).

"grimoire" comes from old French and roughly translates to "spellbook".

"editio perfecta" is direct Latin translation for "complete edition"

A lot of magic-themed works use language like that to sound "edgy", mysterious and pick up the interest. Just take a look at Umineko anime OP with it's pseudo-Latin chorus, or even title of "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" series - they could've just use "Mahou Shoujo Madoka" title ( "Puella Magi" means "magical girl/virgin" in Latin) and it'd mean the same, but they wanted to "stand out".

Steam greenlight version of this game (not the one that I posted here), without h-scenes will be named "Editio Acturi" ( Latin again, translates directly to "edition for everyone", or more natural "all-ages version".

Surprisingly good. Dice + adorable/funny characters + quests. Just finished my first playthrough. Definitely going to need to actually strategize second time around. Also, star shaped missions indicate endings I think, so better save before doing those if you want to get the afterward from the final test.

Pretty fantastic so far. Just wish the art style wasn't so.... flowery? I don't really know how to explain it. Hopefully it starts to grow on me as i play

    • As their first year together at Amadronia Academy comes to an end, Lisha and Sable make plans to spend their upcoming break together in her home. An elven village far away from their noisy classmates, where they can enjoy the break in peace, and be alone together at last.

What awaits them at their destination, however, is not the holiday they had planned. Their time away is soon spoiled by news of recent kidnappings and graves being robbed. To make matters worse, these crimes are alleged to have been committed by a dark elf.

Keen to investigate these incidents, Sable and Lisha move from town to town as they encounter one shocking revelation after another: mind control, forbidden magic, a human town where magic is the norm, and another side to her father's past which Lisha knew nothing about.

With all of the chaos going on around them, is a tender moment between man and elf too much to wish for?
