killerinsidee 14
As usual - new game, new problems \o/ I'll update the thread as I find stuff and the members can post the issues they have. Also be sure to post if you find a solution to some unresolved one. If you're reporting a new issue, please write in detail. Don't write stuff like "my game crashes, please help", provide more details and/or a screenshot of the error. Issue #1: Movie02.gpk and Movie03.gpk installation error - Some people reported that their installation gets stuck when installing these files. This is a workaround - you need to mount Disc 1 and 2 (with Daemon Tools) and find a folder called "packs", copy (and overwrite them if needed) what's inside that folder to - C:\Overflow\SchoolDays HQ\packs (that's the default installation path, it will be located somewhere else if you choose to install the game in some other location). After that you need to add some stings to the registry (because the game creates them at the end of the installation, which didn't complete for you), otherwise you will get an error "Script version doesn’t match". Info and instructions how to add those can be found - HERE. Solution updated: Registry fix after manually moving the files added, credit goes to Smileynator and Snowbell. Issue #2: No sound after closing/restarting the game - If you have no sound after closing the game and starting it again, there are 2 things you can do. They are similar, choose which ever is more convenient for you. Solution #1 - go to your game folder (default install folder is "C:\Overflow\SCHOOLDAYS HQ"), find and delete a file called "config.dat". You need to do this every time you start the game or the sound will be gone again. Note that you will need to re-do your in-game settings every time you start the game. Solution #2 - go to your game folder (default install folder is "C:\Overflow\SCHOOLDAYS HQ"), find a file called "config.dat". Right click on it and choose Open, a new window will pop up, choose "Select a program from a list of installed programs" and choose Notepad. It will be open up as a text file, delete all the text there and save it (File -> Save). You also need to set the config file to read-only (Right click on config.dat -> check Read-only). Note that the only thing that varies from Solution #1 is that you won't need to delete the file every time you start the game, but you will need to re-do your in-game settings each time. Update: No longer relevant, the v1.01 patch fixes this issue. Issue #3: Game freezing in full screen mode - Some people have a problem running the game in full screen mode, it freezes frequently and they are forced to restart the game. The only workaround for now is to just play the game in windowed mode and it will run fine. Untested - Someone said that it's because of the .NET Framework 3.5 . You can find it on Disc 1 and install it, but there should be much need to do it on Windows 7 since it has it installed by default (unless you turned it off for some reason. If you did, go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> on the left side click "Turn Windows features on and off" and see if Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 is checked). After that, delete the config.dat file inside your game folder, run it again and see if it freezes in full screen again. Update: Reinstalling/turning on .NET Framework 3.5 does not solve the problem. Update #2: This issue may possibly be solved by installing the v1.01 patch (didn't test it yet). Issue #4: Black screen when opening the game - If you get a black screen when you launch the game (it may also not respond and close), you need to update your graphics drivers and it will work fine. Issue #4a: Black screen when opening the game (with sound) - Similar problem as Issue #4, only difference is that the game doesn't crash right away and you hear the sound from the title screen. Solution - you need to mount Disc 2 and start the game with it. It should work fine with that. Issue #5: Script version doesn’t match error when loading a save - The game freezes when trying to load a save. No solution as of yet. Note: This issue seems to occur when you copy the files manually to the game folder (if your installation freezes). Update: This is no longer relevant, solution for it is combined into Issue #1 (following those instructions will prevent it from occuring). Issue #6: Video turns black on some parts of the game - Microsoft is to blame for this one if you've installed the latest Windows Updates. More info and solution HERE. JAST released a v1.01 patch for School Days: it fixes a number of issues, more info about it here - School Days HQ Version 1.01 Patch Update: JAST released a v1.02 patch for School Days: it fixes a bug that was causing widescreen mode to use the wrong resolution. Maou 12
No sound after restart: delete "config.dat" located in "Overflow\SCHOOLDAYS HQ" every time you play.Tested and confirmed by others users. Installation stuck problem: 1-Windows xp sp3 compatibility mode, AV turned off, admin rights. If don´t work try the 2. 2- Finish the installation manually: Close the installer with taskmanager, copy and paste the files from Disks manually "packs folder" to installation directory folder "Overflow\SCHOOLDAYS HQ\Packs".Create a shortcut for "SCHOOLDAYS HQ.exe", play the game. This is just a draft.
Brincamian 10
My game randomly freezes every 5-10 minutes and has to be closed via CTRL ALT DEL whenever I'm running it in full screen. Windowed works fine so far, but if anyone figures out a fix for this problem I'd love to hear it. Tried a couple things, but haven't found anything that works yet aside from staying in windowed mode. Shadyren 10
Well, if you play this one on LAPTOP, it wont work well.
zerut 10
When opening up the School Days HQ.exe, I would get a black screen and when I tried to click on the screen it would say its not responding and close. I updated my drivers, and now School Days is running with no problems.
Brincamian 10
What operating system do you have ? I have Windows 7 64-bit running in Japanese locale (I know School Days doesn't require the region being set to Japanese, but I'm also pretty sure it's not what's causing the freezing) One post said to install a 3.5 framework that's on the first game disc, and that didn't do anything for me. Another says to remove codecs, but I sort of need those, so I haven't tried that yet. It's a nice gaming desktop, not a netbook or anything like that, so the specs are definitely fine. I doubt it will fix it, but the good news is that I can still play it in windowed mode. I'll keep messing around with stuff and post back if I find anything that fixes it, in case other people run into the same problem.

Yuriman 10
I have similar issue with #2, but instead of no sound, when I restart the game to continue where I left off I get "Graphicbase initialisation error. Failed to load DX3D device." First time works, but it's when I close and restart the game that I encounter this. Thnx

Sinai 10
Hey guys so despite the freezing issue I get rare game crashes by pressing the save or load button ingame (seems totally random). Error is "Schooldays hq stopped working" and the game closes. Problem is if I restart the game every single one of my save files is unloadable, error is "Script version does not match" so basically I have to start from scratch over and over again or I could play without saving or loading but thats just not doable without a guide (I dont want to use one) at least not for me. So am I the only one with this issue or has anybody read something about this or maybe got an solution? every help is really appreciated

Tried a couple times with the compatibility troubleshooting, and it doesn't display the problem I'm having anywhere. There's stuff like "Unable to switch to full screen" and stuff like that, but nothing related to the problem I'm having. I'm not gonna worry about it for now, I'll probably just play in windowed mode or perhaps test it on another computer at some point. I know some other people were only able to fix it by staying in windowed mode as well.

Now thats odd the game doesn't even start (llittle black window pops up but nothing happens) with compability mode while choosing service pack 2. I tried different combinations aswell as check all like u suggested.
Maou 12
Thanks ultimecea, but already tried everything before posting my complains. Compatibility mode, admin rights, codecs reinstall, directx reinstall, netframework reinstall, etc, etc... Have windows 7 x64 and x86 neither of then works "two computers", i´m being trolled by this game Let´s go install windows xp on my third computer!
Brincamian 10
programs running in small screen are refering to unable to start up in full screen =.=" It can switch to full screen, and run in full screen, it just freezes after 5-10 minutes. It's another thing to try, but that troubleshooting option appears to be for people who flat out can't get it into full screen. I went ahead and ticked it to see what happens, and all it does is sets my computer resolution to something really low, and then when I put it in full screen I could no longer select widescreen. It still froze up 10 or so minutes later, so it's just a completely different issue. It seems to freeze sooner when I'm trying to jump between scenes using the skip buttons. I'll just stick to windowed mode for now.

Thnx That is a graphics card related issue, so try to uninstall your graphics driver and install the new one. Let me know if it fixed it. Also, just to be clear, you're getting that error when loading a save? Edit: Got a question for all the people that have the "Script version doesn’t match" error when loading saves. Did any of you install the game properly or the installation failed and you just copied the files manually? Asking so I can rule that one out if it's not in common for everyone. Edit2: People that have problems with the game freezing in full screen, please what what codecs you are using (CCCP, K-lite, etc.). Had to copy the files manually cause the installation refused to accept the iso of disc 2 even if it was mounted.
