There's a way to bypass that error but it doesn't work on everything. Regardless though, you can try this out. Open your command prompt with admin privileges. Once the command window appears, drag the installer icon into the window, hit Space and type /NCRC. Hit Enter and the installer should hopefully start.

From what I've read so far, Seiha Translations is currently having some difficulty translating the game due to a "double width character issue" while attempting to translate the game. They are putting the translation on hold while they try to solve this problem first.

Regarding the Shiny Days patch: Based from what I've read with regards to the direct download link, it is unconfirmed whether it has malware or not. As the others previously mentioned, this site's VNs don't have viruses. If ever your anti-virus detects a "virus" from a game you downloaded from this site, it is most likely a false positive. Some games here use cracks in order for them to work properly. Those cracks are usually the ones that trigger your anti-virus. These are false positives.

What are your preferences (genre, etc.) ? I'll give you some recommendations based on it.

None that I know of so far. Only time I've seen jumpscare pop ups were in flash games but not VNs.
