In other news, trial patch for Rance VI is out. It just covers a short portion of the game, but it's amusing and already has a comedic rape scene.

Someone's translating Rance 6 and plans to release a short teaser patch soon (He won't do any other partials, but I can understand that). And by soon, I mean this weekend, not a few months.

They are all doujin visual novels, so they're all probably short. I wouldn't expect anything longer than 10 hours.

There, there. Someone has to take the fall then recommend the good ones to us. Personally, I don't care what the premise is, it's the execution that matters. No use having a unique premise if you can't execute it decently. At the same time, if you have a familiar premise, you have to execute it pretty damn well. KS is an example of the latter disability aspect of it aside. I can't think of an example of the former in the Western VN development though that's because I barely dabble in them. While nukige is very popular in Japan and keeps localization companies afloat (though that's more because they are cheap rather than because they sell well) many of us here don't care too much about them. Not to mention that translating sex scenes one after another can get dull and boring. Well, I heard Eroge was a legitimately good nukige. I'm a bit interested in its hilarious and absurd premise.

It has a different translator though so it depends on how fast he works. Same thing goes for Baldr Sky.

It's not a nukige and Ixrec did like it (8/10). It's just not good enough for him to bother translating. Speaking of which, I wonder what he's going to translate after Rewrite. I hope it's a WAB.

I've played some of Lilith's games (out of curiosiy). I still think that they were at least better than Milk Pot, but that's just me.

On one hand, it looks awful. On the other hand, it can't POSSIBLY be worse than Milk Pot...

I'm patiently waiting for the day the whole Rance series is translated. And if it's not by the time I am fluent enough in Japanese to read a Liar-soft VN without a sweat, I'll do it myself.

Let's see then, Daa Daa Daa, Kara No Kyoukai, Great Teacher Onizuka, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Busou Renkin, Hatsukoi Limited, Welcome to the NHK, Hen Zemi, Card Captor Sakura, Chobits and Kodomo no Jikan are all memorable anime that fit one or more of your categories. Of course, it goes without saying that the original manga versions are better (or the original novel in the case of Kara no Kyoukai).

Huh, I can't think of one that fits all of those genres at once. Psychological and fantasy just don't go hand in hand.

Let's face it. Most people interested in that game only care about the Sora route. In any case, as long as he does a decent job, he can take as long as he needs too. It's not like he's charging anything.
